Hydraulic Equipment Hydrostatic Pump Input Shaft Seal Replacement NOTE: Replacement of the drive shaft seal (A, Fig. 509) on Eaton hydrostatic pumps requires Shaft Seal Install Kit [Manitou part # 50290619]. NOTE: Early machines pumps are shown; input shaft seal replacement on later machines is similar.
Input Shaft Seal Removal 1. Use a retaining ring pliers to remove retaining ring (B, Fig. 510). 2. Punch a starter hole in shaft seal using a hammer and punch (C). 3. Blunt the point of a 3” sheet metal screw (D), and thread the screw into the hole made in the shaft seal during the previous step. 4. Use a pliers to pull shaft seal out just far enough to pull it out of it’s pocket (E). 5. Carefully insert the blade of a screwdriver behind the seal (F), and gently work the seal out. IMPORTANT: Use care not to damage the drive

shaft and/or the seal bore. Damage to the shaft and/ or seal bore will prevent proper sealing of the pump.
