National news about “the” real estate market often has little to do with what’s happening in each local and regional housing market and various sectors of commercial property. Hartford College for Women began as Mount Holyoke in Hartford, a “noble experiment” in 1933. The strength and potential for the college to grow was rooted in the belief that women’s education and an empowering community were the perfect foundation for success. Marion Abraham is a painter who investigates inner workings of the self. Embracing a fiercely tangible approach to the medium, Abraham infuses subversive qualities with traditional painting techniques to execute dynamic compositions, focussing on romantic renderings of the body and the landscape. Guided by feminist instinct and a dark sense of humour, she melds quixotic and escapist notions, familiar clichés and suggestive language with the muddiness of the natural world. Through these thematic touchstones, she navigates ideas of the soul, reimagines power structures and centres the valorising of care.

When it comes to my home water, Österdalälven, it’s mostly known for its large population of grayling, which, as we all know, is a great fish to chase with the fly rod. Also, they are quite willing to rise to a well-presented dry fly, which most fly fishers appreciate. The excellent grayling fishing has pushed the trout a bit in the background. The trout population has been under pressure by a big dam and timber rafting. However, they have survived, and the population has grown strong and offers high-quality fishing.

Dating back more than 1,000 years, Stobo Castle was purchased by the Winyards in 1975, opening as one of the UK’s first health farms in 1978. Gaynor ‘Granny’ Winyard, a trained beauty therapist, had one aim: for every guest to leave “utterly relaxed, looking trim, feeling vibrantly alive and superbly fit, and radiating good health”.
