REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS Starter Magnetic Relay Removal
4. Remove the capscrews retaining the starter magnetic relay bracket to the cylinder block, and then, remove the starter magnetic relay and bracket.
To remove the starter magnetic relay: 1. If not already done, disconnect the key switch harness wire at the starter magnetic relay.

2. Remove the nut and washer securing the positive battery cable to the starter magnetic relay. 3. Loosen the nuts and screws securing the starter magnetic relay to the relay bracket.
Loosening the nuts and screws with the relay bracket still attached to the engine block, makes it easier to remove the nuts, screws and relay at the bench, if replacement of the relay becomes necessary. 57

If it becomes necessary to replace the starter magnetic relay, remove the nuts and screws securing the relay to the relay bracket. Replace the starter magnetic relay, install the nuts and screws and tighten to specification.
