The oil pan used on the MackPower™ M-E7 marine engine has a special nickel coating applied before being painted. Do not replace this oil pan with the automotive version of the pan. Do not use heavy abrasives to clean or remove the finish of this pan. Heavy abrasives can remove the nickel coating and cause subsequent oil pan corrosion.

Refer to Figure 141.

1.Remove the two studs securing the oil pan to the timing gear cover.

2.Remove the two studs securing the oil pan to the flywheel housing.

3.Remove the remaining six studs securing the sides of the oil pan to the cylinder block.

4.Remove the remaining shouldered bolts securing the oil pan to the pan rails and remove the oil pan.
