REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS 6. Remove all coolant tubes, ground straps, vent lines, fuel lines, transmission oil cooler hoses, throttle linkage and electrical wiring harnesses that are attached to the engine and would prevent its removal.

7. Disconnect any electrical cables or wires still connected to the starter and starter magnetic relay. 8. Remove the retaining bolts that secure the transmission bell housing to the flywheel housing.

2. Using the drain hose attached to drain plug area of the engine oil pan, pump the oil out of the oil pan and into a suitable waste container 3. Remove the clamps that retain the coolant overflow tank. Remove tank. 4. Disconnect the pipe connecting the exhaust pipe/mixer with the hull of the vessel. The exhaust pipe/mixer connection at the turbocharger may be removed with engine or separated at this time depending on vessel application. 5. Disconnect the raw water inlet hose to the raw water pump.
9. Obtain the appropriate lifting equipment (bar or chain) and attach to the proper lift points on the engine. 10. Position and attach the engine hoist to the lift bar or chain and place tension on the bar or chain by operating the hoist. 11. Remove torque converter access panel and remove capscrews that secure the transmission flywheel adapter to the engine flywheel. Support the forward portion of the transmission. 12. Remove the retaining bolts that secure the engine mounts to the engine or hull. 13. Obtain assistance for removal of the engine. Remove engine while watching for obstructions that interfere with its removal such as engine or hull components, brackets, clamps or other parts still attached to the engine. 14. Refer to “Mounting Engine in Stand” on page 81 for procedures for mounting the engine on an engine stand.
