Specimen Preparation In accordance with international standards, Instron® offers an extensive range of machines designed to cut out specimens from thin and soft plastic materials. The manual and motorized notching machines are linear notching machines, designed to quickly and accurately prepare notched specimens for impact tests according to Izod, Charpy and tensile impact methods. The CEAST AN50 is designed for laboratories performing impact tests in high quantities. In a single cycle, the system can notch 50 specimens each 4 mm thick, storing the key parameters for later use. Die punch systems are built to punch specimens by using hollow dies of different contour and size. These are commonly used for rubber, elastomer, plastic, leather, cloth, plasticized cloth, paper, cellular materials, and films.
