IMPACT TESTING SYSTEMS

Impact Systems

Impact resistance is one of the most important properties for component designers to consider, as well as the most difficult to quantify. Impact resistance is a critical measure of service life, and more importantly, it involves the perplexing problem of product safety and liability. With the combined experience of Dynatup® and CEAST, Instron® has more than 80 years’ experience in designing impact testing systems to simulate real-life impact conditions.

CEAST 9400 Series Drop Towers

The CEAST 9400 Series is built to test a wide range of materials from specimens to finished products. These drop tower impact systems are equipped with instrumentation to fit your application needs from a basic pass-fail result to an automated calculation and visual curve display. The 9400 Series is designed to deliver an energy range of 1J - 1800J with velocities up to 24 m/s.

CEAST 9000 Series Pendulums

The CEAST 9000 Series is designed to perform your Charpy, Izod, tensile impact, and Dynstat tests in accordance with specific standards on a wide range of samples including bars, dumbbells, and pipes. Our pendulum systems use hammer energies ranging from 0.5J - 50J and velocities from 1 - 3.80 m/s.

MPX Series Motorized Pendulum

MPX Series motorized pendulum impact testing systems were developed for metals testing to Charpy and Izod impact standards. Available in capacities from 300 to 900 Joules, each system includes an integrated guard, safety control system, and Fracta™ software for simple data acquisition and reporting of absorbed energy. The system features automatic test start at door closure for efficient testing and adherence to standards for non-ambient impact testing.
