COMPUTER HARDWARE AND DIGITAL INTERFACES

Software has become an integral part of many modern materials testing systems. When the time comes to take that first step in computerizing your system or to update your existing PC hardware we recommend that you contact us to discuss the best route forward. There are software and hardware compatibility issues that need careful consideration to ensure successful installation.

All PC systems supplied by Instron® come with a full Instron warranty and have been thoroughly checked for software and hardware compatibility. When ordered with the PC, interface cards are also installed and checked.

Computer hardware develops so quickly that it is not possible to include technical details of available PC platforms since they rapidly become inaccurate. Please contact your nearest Instron office to find out about the latest PC offerings available from Instron.

Electronic interfaces are required in the PC to allow communication with the testing system. The interface type required depends on the type of controller fitted to your system.

Principle of Operation

Dedicated high-speed interfaces provide the best possible communications for the complex process of controlling a testing system and transmitting data. The interface card is installed in the PC and provides the link to the testing instrument via a suitable cable.

1. An interface is also required in the test instrument. Some models feature built-in interfaces but others are optional. Refer to your system documentation or call us for confirmation.
