UNIVERSAL SPHERICAL TENSION ADAPTER (USTA)

The USTA is a versatile device that connects a wide number of tension accessories to an Instron test machine, provides a smooth spherical seat, and requires few or no additional adapters. The USTA threads into a standard machine interface from the direction of the test space and connects to the machine thread on one end and directly to the accessory on the other, all-in-one compact device.

The USTA consists of a sleeve component that is threaded for the test machine and a shank component that is threaded for tension accessories. The two components mate on matching spherical surfaces that allow flexibility during alignment and sustain the load during a test. A nut holds the assembly together and a polymer washer allows flexibility without looseness.
