What is your relationship with TNDC and the Tahltan Nation? How long have you had your joint venture (or other relationship) with TNDC? Hy-Tech Drilling is committed to building positive and ongoing relationships with Indigenous people and local communities in the regions that we operate. Hy-Tech has promoted training and employment opportunities in the Tahltan area through OnTrack and has taken part in various career fairs throughout the years. Where there is sufficient ongoing demand for drilling by Hy-Tech, business partnerships can be developed and as such the Tahltan Hy-Tech Drilling partnership was established in 2021 and subsequently launched in 2022.
What employment and training opportunities are available to Tahltan members? How do you communicate these opportunities? Hy-Tech has opportunities in all areas of the business from field operations (drillers, helper, foreman) to field support (human resources, safety, finance, shop, warehouse, etc.) at the branch location in Smithers. Opportunities for training and employment are advertised on the Hy-Tech website, social media accounts, OnTrack and on various other employment search websites.

What training opportunities do you provide for Tahltan members? Hy-Tech offers an in-house Drillers Helper Training Program multiple times throughout the year. The course provides new recruits with no previous experience in the Diamond Drilling Industry with an introduction to the drillers’ helpers’ roles, responsibilities, and tasks.
