orica.com What is your relationship with TNDC and the Tahltan Nation? How long have you had your joint venture (or other relationship) with TNDC?

Orica and TNDC have had a formal agreement since 2014.

What employment and training opportunities are available to Tahltan members? How do you communicate these opportunities?

Orica has employment opportunities throughout Western Canada. These positions are comprised of explosives truck operators, plant personnel, certified blasters, and blasters helpers for both surface and underground mining operations. Orica provides employment opportunities for people that want to join the Orica team. Opportunities are forwarded to TNDC through the TCG Employment & Contracting Director and posted electronically.

What training opportunities do you provide for Tahltan members?

Orica provides training opportunities for people that want to join the Orica team including:

• Blaster helper training; • Bulk underground explosives loading technician; • Bulk explosives truck operator; and, • Bulk explosives plant operator.

What philanthropic contributions have you made to the Tahltan Nation?

Charitable contributions are an important reflection of Orica’s commitment to the communities where we operate around the world. We measure our business performance through engaged employees, satisfied customers and in the communities where we operate.

Corporate giving is one important way Orica works to enrich the hundreds of communities where we conduct business. Through our charitable contributions, we provide funds to organizations serving communities where Orica operates in North America. We focus this funding into five pillars: Youth, Education, Environment Safety and Innovation Orica is a Gold Sponsor for the Healthy Active Tahltans (HATs) initiative. In addition, Orica offers scholarships for Tahltan Nation members to attend collegiate programs in Earth Sciences based on TNDC nomination and recommendations.

How do you communicate contracting processes when you are looking for services providers?

Contracting opportunities are communicated through TNDC senior management based on opportunities as they arise or during quarterly business review meetings.

What is your approach to including Tahltan businesses in your operations?

Orica is constantly exploring opportunities to work with Tahltan members and companies. We are also working with our customers to facilitate and integrate Tahltan members and companies in our provision of services operations at their sites.

Anything else you would like to share with the Tahltan Nation?

Orica believes that by working alongside members of the Tahltan community to promote educational and employment opportunities in our field, we can strengthen local ties and ensure the success of mining, quarry, and construction projects for generations to come.
