I am a year into the Director of Employment & Contracting role and we are making strides with both our OnTrack employment and our OnTrack business registry. Having the industry contacts that I obtained over the years in previous employment has been a huge asset in this role to assist our Tahltan people.

We have 397 registered Tahltans on the OnTrack platform and since this will be our preferential hire site, we encourage all Tahltans and Associates to register at ontrack.tahltan.org. This will be the platform you want to be set up on for up-to-date job postings from the TCG, Tahltan Nation Development Corporation (TNDC), our industry partners, and more. The industry partners with Impact Benefit Agreements (IBAs) and any full time hire positions are being posted to this site for review. Members are encouraged to apply directly from OnTrack. It does take a few business days for approval and as stated requires membership with the TCG prior to this approval to OnTrack. The business policy is progressing, and we are getting closer to a Tahltan business public meeting and TCG family meetings regarding the policy as an updated presentation of the draft policy will be brought forth. We want to ensure that the process is fair and transparent, and several different options have been researched throughout this process. This process will make the system fair and transparent to all Tahltan businesses, and yes, competition amongst themselves may get busier in the future as more Tahltans are venturing into entrepreneurship.

We are anticipating a very busy exploration season and are still gathering the statistics on how many Tahltans were hired on each site with companies. Along with that, statistics on how many Tahltan businesses were hired. This will be the first year that we have sent a smaller version of our statistics form to our own Tahltan businesses for information on Tahltan hires, where they received contracts from with industry partners, and if they are working together with others in any areas of their businesses.

We are also looking into upgrades of our current OnTrack platform and into the development of a new database for the Tahltan businesses in which industry partners will have the contracting opportunities posted on the site and our registered Tahltan businesses can review opportunities that they believe they are qualified to bid on.
