Bandstra is a regional transportation service provider in BC and Alberta. We provide a wide variety of trucking related services including less-than truckload, truckload, port drayage, warehousing, trans-load, and load brokerage services. Our customers include many of the mines and other industrial facilities operating throughout Northwestern BC.

What is your relationship with TNDC and the Tahltan Nation? How long have you had your joint venture (or other relationship) with TNDC?
Bandstra has had a long working relationship with the TNDC and the Tahltan Nation including providing scheduled service to Iskut, Dease Lake, and Telegraph Creek since the 1980's. Our relationship with TNDC was formalized in 2015.
What employment and training opportunities are available to Tahltan members? How do you communicate these opportunities?
Bandstra has employment and training opportunities available for Tahltan members. We normally participate in the annual Job Fair and share open job postings with the Tahltan employment office. Positions for drivers and mechanics are typically available. Other positions open periodically. Interested candidates should apply to careers@bandstra.com
Why should Tahltan members want to work for you?
Bandstra is a stable employer with more than 65 years’ experience operating in Northern BC. We are now part of the Mullen Group which further expands our capabilities and geographic reach. We also understand that our continued growth and success depends on the growth and success of our customers and employees. Therefore, we try to treat them as we would want to be treated ourselves. We typically pay above market rates in our industry and, unlike many competitors in the trucking industry, provide employee medical and RRSP benefits. We also try to promote from within where possible. We have a diverse range of work and work throughout the Provinces of British Columbia and Alberta, which provides our employees with a lot of flexibility for change whether it be new types of work or a new location to call home.
What training opportunities do you provide for Tahltan members?
We are more than happy to invest in training suitable candidates and can provide financial support for formal training programs (i.e., air brakes / Class 1) where appropriate.
What philanthropic contributions have you made to the Tahltan Nation?
We support many Tahltan community initiatives with donations of in-kind transportation services.
Do you have any Tahltan contractors working for your company? If yes, who?
Yes. Kluachon Store, TNDC, and Keda Propane.
How do you communicate contracting processes when you are looking for services providers?
We typically reach out to suitable contractors and invite them to participate in contracting opportunities. We encourage any Tahltan businesses to introduce themselves to us at any time if they are interested in participating in any future contracting opportunities.
What is your approach to including Tahltan businesses in your operations?
We have enjoyed a healthy and productive working relationship with Tahltan members and businesses for 40 plus years and look forward to continuing to develop that relationship as we move into the future. We welcome any opportunity to work with Tahltan businesses on opportunities or projects of mutual interest whether in Northern BC or elsewhere.
