COMPANY OVERVIEW
Summit Camps is based in Smithers, BC. We are a turn-key workforce camp provider to a wide array of industries including mining, forestry, energy, construction and government. We provide camp services across Canada. Summit offers high quality catering services, tailored to meet the needs of our diverse clients. We provide camps for up to 1,500 residents and own a large fleet of high-quality camp structures. We conduct full camp installation and do light construction on site. Summit also provides remediation services for camp equipment owned by our clients.
What is your relationship with TNDC and the Tahltan Nation? How long have you had your joint venture (or other relationship) with TNDC?
Summit Camps and the TNDC have entered into a Collaboration Agreement to work together on projects in Tahltan Territory. We began our first projects together in 2021. Together we offer facilities management, camp catering, facilities maintenance, camp construction, camp structures and remediation.
What employment and training opportunities are available to Tahltan members? How do you communicate these opportunities?
Summit Camps encourages Tahltan and associated Tahltan members to apply for employment with us. We offer positions such as head cook/camp manager, preparation cook, housekeeper, janitor facilities, maintenance, construction, carpenters, and others depending on the location. You can find our positions through the TCG OnTrack site, TNDC’s website and Indeed.

What training opportunities do you provide for Tahltan members?
Summit Camps does not require prior academic qualifications for most positions, although there are some required certificates such as Food Safe. We appreciate the hands-on learning and the experience that comes with working in camps. We train new employees on the job. We train existing employees at work to develop new skills and progress to new positions. We are proud to have camp managers who began as sandwich makers and head cooks who began as general helpers. We believe everyone can learn and grow in their career. We also offer opportunities for apprentices to gain their hours towards their Red Seal Certification for cooking and carpentry.
What philanthropic contributions have you made to the Tahltan Nation?
Summit makes an annual financial contribution to the Dease Lake Food Bank.
Do you have any Tahltan contractors working for your company? If yes, who?
Yes, Keda Propane Ltd., TNDC.
How do you communicate contracting processes when you are looking for services providers?
We would work with TNDC and TCG to identify Tahltan contractors and contact them directly.
What is your approach to including Tahltan businesses in your operations?
We prioritize qualified Tahltan businesses for opportunities with Summit Camps.
Anything else you would like to share with the Tahltan Nation?
We are excited to work with our Tahltan neighbours and look forward to non-pandemic times so we will be able to visit communities, attend job fairs and meet in person!
