Annual: Trinity 2016

Chaplain It is that time of the year, in which we can stop and look back and reflect on the journey of life so far. Fra Oscar M Aguilera Chaplain

This year has been very special for me, as my first year at Trinity was with the incoming Year 4s who are now the graduating Class of 2016. It is like ‘in the blink of an eye’ that those years have passed. The old Romans used to call it ‘tempus fugit’ (time flies). They weren’t wrong! So many faces and names ...so many adventures ...so many tears and laughter ...so much love. Sometimes we do not realise how far we have come or even how short the distance we have covered. I would like to quote part of the homily from the graduating Class of 2016. It summarises what this year and the journey with this special year has been for me. For some of us the journey started at the same time — Year 4 at the Junior School. Some friendships are forged in fire and in the words of Mr Jim Morrison, “baby, light my fire!” and these friendships span a life time. Time stops for no one and then there is graduation day … How exciting, particularly for you guys, with your future before you and looking superb and beaming on this special day, surrounded by your family and friends.

Today, we speak plainly to you as well. No more telling you to tuck in your shirt — your boss may mention it once. No more asking to hand in late assignments — at work they won’t tolerate it. No more reminders to get up otherwise you will be late—the company will expect you to be on time. No more nagging about school work—out there in the world, if you don’t work no one will nag you, you just get sacked. “It’s a funny thing about stories. It doesn’t feel like you make them up, more like you find them.” – Doctor Who Just like real friendships, you don’t go looking for them, they find you! Finally, some words/advice/counsel from ‘The Doctor’ and me: “One day we shall meet again. Yes, we shall meet. Until then, there must be no regrets, no tears, and no anxieties. Just go forward in all your beliefs and prove to me that I am not mistaken in mine.” Safe life journey and may God bless! Fra Oscar M Aguilera, OSM Chaplain

“It’s time to go, remember what you’re leaving. Remember the best.” – Doctor Who A new year begins and a new chapter in the life commences. Therefore, select your friends carefully — do they like to work or not? Because otherwise you will be doing all the caring! Really, good advice ...I sound more and more like a parent — exactly what I said I wouldn’t do — back then! And yet when I looked back I wish someone would have said this to me. Maybe someone did, I just paid no attention ...typical teenager.
