Careers

YEAR 10

Throughout 2016, all Year 10 students explored future employment in the Personal Development and Wellbeing classes offered. Students initially completed a career assessment tool which highlighted individual strengths and produced a list of possible jobs. Students explored these further to gain an understanding of the educational and personal requirements for employment. Throughout the four-week course students completed Occupational Health and Safety modules and received a Trinity portfolio aimed at assisting students to prepare for part-time work.

CAREER CAROUSEL

On Wednesday 25 May, we had our annual Year 10 Careers Carousel. Students had the opportunity to select from a variety of talks and listen to many successful professionals. Before selecting subjects for Year 11, the Carousel is a great opportunity to listen to people working in occupations that many students consider entering once they finish school. Presenters included Australian Defence Force personnel, paramedics from St John Ambulance, lawyers, engineers, Members of Parliament, accountants and members of the Western Australian Police. A big thank you goes to the following Old Boys of the College who gave up their time to share their experience and expertise with our current students: Jamie Falzon (‘84), Troy Zafer (‘91), Olivier Marion (‘00), Marco Russo (‘00), Joseph Brierty (‘06) and Kaleb McKenna (‘07).

CERTIFICATE IV BUSINESS

The second cohort of Trinity students in 2016 successfully completed the Certificate IV Business. The competencies covered in this course are recognised by Curtin University, Edith Cowan University (ECU) and Murdoch University as meeting the minimum university entrance requirements. This year, all 22 students successfully obtained the qualification, which many will use for direct entry into university for 2017.

YEAR 12

Throughout Terms 1 and 2, students were presented with information about what to expect at university. The University of Notre Dame, University of Western Australia and the Tertiary Institutions Service Centre (TISC) each made presentations to the Year 12s about university enrolment, courses and employment prospects. Many Year 12 students took the opportunity to apply for scholarships. The following students were successful in their applications:
