Mr Corey Miskiewicz

Coach

The likes of Taylor Hannah, Oliver Cranny and Finn Gismondi all featured with the bat each game whilst Preston Campbell, Noah Egitto, Spencer Bluntish and Mitchell McGrath were often our best bowlers each week with disciplined and consistent areas. If there was a game you wanted to win each term, it had to be against Aquinas College which the boys managed to do at Waterford setting a respectable 8/87 and keeping Aquinas to 5/71. Batting MVP Oliver Cranny Bowling MVP Noah Egitto Fielding MVP Mitchell McGrath

Mr Cody Leggett (’13)

Coach

This group was by far the best group of students I have coached. Their willingness to learn and listen was outstanding. We didn't lose a game and it wasn't just the talent but the way they bonded together as a team. Even with the changes to the side on a weekly basis, the cooperation between players was maintained. Batting MVP Antonio Galipo Bowling MVP Max Pola Fielding MVP Timothy Robinson

Mr Nicholas Marciano (’14)

Coach

It was a pleasure to coach the 7Cs and I was impressed by the way they collaborated as a team. Their commitment to each other was a major factor in the team’s success. After losing the first game to Aquinas, they rebounded impressively to remain undefeated for the rest of the season. Thanks to Mr Rod Rainer, Mr Steve Leahy (’78) and Mr David Hankin for their support. Thanks to Nick Moulton (’15) for making sure the kit was always stocked. Batting MVP Brad Lawrence Bowling MVP Thomas Gavin Fielding MVP Gabriel Hamilton

Mr Fraser Hay (‘13)

Coach

Our bowling attack was led by fast bowler Jonathan Slater, who always set the standard from ball one. He rarely missed his line length and always had the batsmen under pressure, which was highlighted by his best figures of 3/5 off 2.2 overs. The batting was held together by Jesse McQuillan. It was humbling to sit back and watch this group of boys never once argue about batting last or not bowling as much as someone else and uphold their team spirit for the season. We had a record of three wins and three losses. They were a pleasure to coach. The best performance was when we were batting second, chasing 125 against a strong Wesley College team. Trinity was in trouble at 5/43 after 13 over, but a 77 run partnership between Tom Murray and Reece Gerrand put the team in a strong position. A collapse of 4/2 left us in a precarious position still needing four runs with only one wicket in hand. Sri Dharmapuri calmly strode to the crease and confidently pushed his first ball through the covers for two and then Reece hit the winning runs in the last over to bring up his 50. Batting MVP Riley Mattingley Bowling MVP Tom Murray Fielding MVP Finn Moloney

8B CRICKET

Mr Daniel Bateman

Coach

In every game the 8Bs played their hearts out, putting in a lion’s effort week in and week out. In a game against Guildford Grammar School, the boys came agonisingly close to chasing down a massive 99 off just 20 overs, falling short by just seven runs after some brilliant hitting by Griffin Woodhouse, Harry McHardie and Michael Boffey. Although ending in a draw, the last fixture against Wesley was a game to remember for the boys, where we had some batting cameos by the usual bowlers and brilliant bowling performances by the usual top order. Batting MVP Griffin Woodhouse Bowling MVP Michael Tassone Fielding MVP Nicholas Cooley

8/9C CRICKET

Mr Chris Allanson (‘91)

Coach

The 8/9C cricket team produced some mixed results, however we finished with three wins and three losses, an improvement from 2015. Half centuries to Fynn Langer and Seyha Robertson-Zurzolo were highlights as was the way we played against Guildford in scorching hot conditions at Lilac Hill. Amal Subi has taken one of the best reflex catches you are ever likely to see against Guildford. Our bowling improved across the course of the season. This was most likely attributable to time spent bowling in the nets. Batting MVP Fynn Langer Bowling MVP Amal Subi Fielding MVP Daniel Santelli

9A CRICKET

Mr Anthony Lunt

Coach

A consistent bowling line-up led by Ayden Wedge, Griffen Binning and Victor Le Tessier has controlled opposition run-rates and a powerful top five produced some excellent totals reached by the batsmen. Matthew French and Harry Zimmerman both scored close to 200 runs in the six games and contributed greatly in the field. All-rounders Lachlan Sibosado, Callum Reader, Jayden Egitto and Louis Tot provided plenty of runs and wickets and useful contributions from Wil Shackles, Callum Clayton, Simon Homsany and Michael Thomas meant that depth of talent was never a problem. Batting MVP Matthew French Bowling MVP Victor Le Tessier Fielding MVP Michael Thomas

9B CRICKET

Mr Andrew Bottega (’14)

Coach

It was a mostly successful season for the 9Bs. Starting off, we put up a fairly disappointing performance against Hale School and went away with a 40 run loss. Big wins were recorded against Guildford, Scotch, Wesley and Christ Church, with some standout individual performances including three wicket hauls and 50s. An impressive victory came against Aquinas where they were in control for the better part of the game, but a 65 run flogging from 20 balls by Louis Tot took us over the line. Batting MVP James Breust Bowling MVP Max Mistilis Fielding MVP Nicholas Campagna

Mr Andrew Jenkin

Coach

Very narrow losses to Scotch and Guildford meant that the side was not far away from much greater success and I hope this can be used as a source of motivation. Jesse Messere (180 not out) and Brendan McPhee (120) are deserving of special mention for delivering efforts with the bat as good as I have seen at this level. I commend Liam Dellamarta and David Cain on their determination with the bat and ball respectively and for leading the team. Mr Ben Mitchell

Coach

With a lift in training standards and commitment, there was a dramatic shift in effort and performance. We had an impressive win against Guildford, with Daniel Smith and Ashwyn Menon withstanding a bowling attack to make the winning runs. Sam Peirce and Dan Smith shared captaincy duties as the rollercoasterlike season continued. The win against Wesley was made even more impressive by twin half-centuries to Tom Jansen and Will Parkin within a delivery of another. Brody Fowles held down the keeping duties manfully, throughout much of the season. Batting MVP Tom Jansen Bowling MVP Daniel Smith Fielding MVP Toby Robertson

4TH XI CRICKET

Mr Cooper Isailovic (’14)

Coach

The 2015-16 season was full of ups and downs. Although we fought hard in all our games, we often failed to match the skill of our opposition. Although we had many losses we had some great performances. Commendation goes to Shaun Correa who displayed his inner ‘Virat Kohli’ to hit a quick-fire 30 in two overs, featuring four mighty sixes. We may not have been the team who came out on top, but no one could match our spirit and love for the game. Batting MVP Wynton Galloway Bowling MVP Matt Taylor Fielding MVP Tom Starcevich

3RD XI CRICKET

Mr John Montagu (’74)

Coach

The 3rd XI cricket season for 2016, despite not getting as many wins as we would have liked, can be labelled a success. There were plenty of boys putting their hands up for selection — sometimes in excess of 15. The 3rd XI managed wins against Aquinas and Scotch. The highlight of the season was the game against Scotch, where we managed to make 301 runs in a 30 over game. Batting MVP Callum Lovegrove Bowling MVP Ethan Lee Fielding MVP Jack Damir

2ND XI CRICKET

Mr Dayne Whalan

Coach

The 2nd XI cricket team had some very convincing wins against Guildford, Christ Church and Wesley. The boys finished the season very well with an excellent game against Wesley, setting them 261 off the required 55 overs and then bowling them out for 118. Special mention to Luke McPherson and Jasper Sirr-Davis for their efforts as co-captains. Congratulations to Jordan Alvaro and Ben Gianatti on their century innings and Jasper Sirr-Davis and Simon Lees on their five wicket hauls. Batting MVP Jordan Alvaro Bowling MVP Simon Lee Fielding MVP Jasper Sirr-Davis

Christian Brothers Cricket Week 2016 In January 2016 Trinity College undertook its 11th tour to Christian Brothers Cricket Week which is hosted by St Joseph’s College in Brisbane, which is a biennial event that has been held at St Joseph’s College since the late 1970s. Its aims include providing students with a quality playing experience as well as bringing together members of the Edmund Rice community from Australia and New Zealand. The carnival consisted of a formal competitive structure of limited overs fixtures within three divisions: shield, cup and plate. It is the largest gathering of Edmund Rice schools in Australasia for a sporting event. There were 19 schools represented by 29 teams competing across the different divisions.

Trinity College had two teams competing, one in the shield and one in the cup. The 2nd XI won four of their five qualifying games to just miss the cup final on run quotient. The 1st XI won three out of their first four games with the highlight being a last over victory, over the highly fancied Gregory Terrace. However, this win was overshadowed by a disappointing loss in their final game to St Patrick’s Shorncliffe — a result which cost the side a place in the final against hosts Nudgee College.

At the end of the carnival, 12 players from approximately 250 participating players, were selected in an honorary Australasian representative team. Kai Hickey, William Starkie and Travis Austen were all selected after impressive performances throughout the week.

The tour provided a wonderful opportunity for the players to complete their preparation for the Darlot Cup season of 2016. I thank Mr Andrew Jenkin, Mr Michael Murphy and Mr Dayne Whalan for fulfilling the roles of coach and manager for their respective team.

Darlot Cup 2016 This seasons Darlot Cup campaign can be summed up as one of missed opportunity. Having ended the season with three wins and three losses the side finished middle of the table; however, such was the tightness of the competition that three other sides also finished with the same win-loss ratio.

The season started with a disappointing loss to Hale, a game where Trinity outplayed from the outset of the fixture. This was followed by an agonising one wicket loss to eventual winners Aquinas. After being sent into bat, Trinity were reduced to 5/30; however, some late order hitting from Eoghan McElwee, Brandon Starcevich and Travis Austen helped Trinity to a competitive total of 154. After lunch, Trinity had played themselves into a commanding position with Aquinas requiring 24 runs with just one wicket in hand. Unfortunately, it wasn’t to be, with Aquinas pulling off an improbable victory and leaving Trinity with back to back losses.

Strong performances against both Guildford and Scotch, a match which Trinity chased down an incredible 264 off just 67 overs, followed to leave the side needing to win their final two matches to be any chance of winning the Darlot. Notable performances included Joseph Costa taking 6/32 on debut against Guildford Grammar School whilst Captain Kai Hickey made an outstanding 91 to lead the team to victory against Scotch.

In the penultimate game of the season, Trinity bowled superbly well to dismiss Christ Church for just 103. However, after starting the run chase positively, things dramatically changed and the side was dismissed for a dismal 99. Whilst a strong win over the much improved Wesley College followed, it was this four run loss, combined with an agonising one wicket loss to Aquinas which proved to be the difference between winning and losing the Darlot Cup.

My special thanks goes to the outgoing members of the committee for their contribution to Trinity cricket and the great effort by those involved in the preparation and presentation of meals throughout the season. Batting MVP Kai Hickey Bowling MVP Brandon Starcevich Fielding MVP Travis Austen

Individual Darlot Cup vs Guildford Grammar Joseph Costa six wickets for 32 runs

I thank the Friends of Trinity Cricket Committee for their support this season. Their efforts in catering, fundraising and conducting the annual awards presentation has been invaluable. This is one of the main factors in ensuring we have the best possible cricket environment for our players.
