Trinity College Parent Council

The Parent Council aims to have social inclusiveness across all parent groups and the wider Trinity College community as well as acting as an advisory body to the College leadership team.

In its 23rd year and with the assistance of many parents and staff, the Parent Council hosted the Parent Sundowner and Parent Ball. The Sundowner, to welcome new and returning parents to the new school year, was held in the wonderful McCabe Court on a warm Friday evening in February. The refreshing easterly, added to the high spirits and enjoyment of some good food, drinks and music from the Trinity Saxophone Quartet.

In true Hollywood blockbuster style, the Star Wars themed Parent Ball was a stunning event and a magnificent reflection of the work put in by the Year 12 parents, staff, committee and ball coordinators. We also had the opportunity to welcome new and continuing parents of the Class of 2022 at their Year 7 Orientation night on Monday 14 November.

Thank you to the Council members for your efforts and commitment in adding to the education experience of Trinity College students and the development of the community spirit. This included the councillors who retired in August: Mrs Deborah Hogg, Mrs Sally John, Mrs Stacey Kannis, Mrs Sara MacMillan, the new members Mrs Andrea Dodo-Balu, Mrs Suzanne Lawrence, Mrs Michelle Rapkoch, Mr Nathan White and to the continuing members Mrs Cate Bertram, Mrs Bronwyn Meldrum, Mr Anthony Olivieri (’70), Mr Steve Salvia, Mr Paul Spadoni, Deputy Headmaster, Mr Peter Norman and Secretary, Mrs Beverly Martinez. The College Auxiliary and TOBA are also significant contributors to the Parent Council events.

Finally, my thanks to Mr Gordon Taylor for his ongoing leadership and work, after acting as the Chairperson for the past three years, and willingness to continue with his long stint on the Council.

The legacies of past councillors and the ongoing work of the Council will see a number of new and exciting initiatives in 2017 in addition to the established events.
