In 2016 we completed the Multi-purpose Facility now known as the Sports Centre as the first stage of the Master Plan development. Planning has also commenced on the development of the Link Building which will link the Sports Centre with the Foley Centre. These buildings would not be possible without the assistance of families who commit to the Building Fund Donation program: thank you.

Affordability became the major focus for 2016 and was highlighted with the growing number of families who needed assistance due to the financial climate of our economy.

Within the tuition fee there is a small contribution towards assisting other parents to meet the financial demands of having a student at the College. In a small way, this helps the College to remain diverse in its community population, which is a good aspect about Trinity.

This year the tuition fee concession contribution to parents who are having difficulty increased to $601,000, while the scholarship and bursary program grew to $688,000. The Trinity College Foundation also increased its commitment with the addition of another refugee student bursary. They now support six Aboriginal students and seven refugee students. The funding from the Trinity College Foundation comes from partnerships with organisations such as Programmed, OfficeMax, TOBA, Colibri Pty Ltd, some private individuals and the contribution made by parents at the start of their son’s enrolment.

Marketing continued to be a major activity this year with an expanded social media platform, the use of video content and advertising on the back of buses and billboards. People have often asked me why we advertise given the strength of our enrolments. The answer is that we cannot rest on our laurels and we must always let people know of our existence and our readiness to enrol students from a diverse range of cultures. Thank you to the team; Ms Natasha Spykerman, Mrs Kelli Pala, Miss Karyn Pickering and the TOBA Executive Officer, Ms Diane Millar.

Thank you to all the administration, grounds and maintenance, canteen and clothing shop staff and volunteers who work together to make Trinity College the place it is and who support the academic staff in educating your son/sons. I would like to especially thank the Manager of Buildings & Services, Mr John Braby who retires this year after 30 years with the College—we all wish him well in retirement.

For 2016 the income and expenditure of the College remained very tight as we look to the future and the realisation of the Master Plan. In this regard the Link Building will be the next development in 2018 and will complete the building program in the entrance area.
