Our first whole band event was leading the students for the Head of the River assembly followed by the lone piper playing for the traditional 1st VIII row past.

The Anzac Day parade in the city is an event we usually enjoy but on 25 April 2016 it was an experience we will not forget as we were saturated through from the heavy downpour of rain before the march had even started.
The Pipes & Drums band attended the Armadale Highland Gathering in September and competed in the juvenile section contest and the massed band. We gained a first place certificate and received a monetary reward for taking part. This was an enjoyable day and the students experienced some Scottish culture.
The band’s first competition for the year was the Fremantle Highland Gathering held at The Fremantle Sailing Club in May. There were a few nervous moments for some of the students, as they approached the judges for their solo events. The band performed well and we were pleased that we gained a first place in piping in the march set and second place in piping in the medley set. We certainly appreciated the great support from parents and friends on the day.

The Indigenous Veterans Commemoration Service at the State War Memorial in Kings Park was an opportunity for Trinity Pipes & Drums to add a sense of occasion to the event with pipers, Daniel Fitzgerald (10.2), Zachary Hayward (10.2) and drummer Alasdair Cooper (10.8) playing for the wreath laying ceremony. This was appreciated by the many dignitaries and members of the public who attended. Vietnam Veterans Day held in August celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan. The Pipes & Drums travelled to North Beach RSL Club to perform at the request of Mr Chris Rampant who was the coordinator of
Senior Presentation Night always brings some anxious anticipation but the students performed well to an appreciative audience. Trinity Pipes & Drums staff and students congratulate Pipe Major, Nicholas Ellison (11.5), on receiving the honour of Head Prefect for 2017. To enable the Pipes & Drums to continue its tradition we urgently need new students who are not currently learning a musical instrument to seriously consider learning to play the bagpipes and joining the band. Being a member of the band provides an opportunity to be involved in a traditional music experience, learn about teamwork, develop confidence, have fun and meet new friends. We perform for the College, community and the public and there is an opportunity to travel on tour. Thank you to the staff, parents and students for an enjoyable 2016.
