Visual Arts In 2016 the Visual Arts Department has provided opportunities for students to experience dynamic learning through involving professional artists with specialist knowledge on their individual art forms. Amanda Shelsher, a Perth based ceramicist, worked with a select group of senior boys during Term 1 and shared with students, details of her artistic practice, the style of her work and her unique clay sculpting and hand building techniques. A group of Years 11 and 12 students also visited Edith Cowan University where they experienced a university art education. They participated in activities led by visual artist and university lecturer, Marie Haass. On both occasions the boys enjoyed interacting and working with a specialist within their field. Involving these artists and the community, has enriched the students' learning and appreciation of art, helping them to develop their own relationship and responses to contemporary art and art making.

and supported our talented and budding artists. It was a pleasant evening with drinks and light refreshments adding to the lovely experience. Undoubtedly, one of the highlights of the exhibition was artwork produced by the Year 12s. The winner of the prestigious Year 12 Signum Fidei Art Award was Joshua Foti for his artwork entitled Ciccio. This award is given to the most outstanding artwork produced by a Year 12 student. The runner up prize was awarded to Henry Malkovic (12.6) for his artwork entitled We Need to Talk. Henry was also the recipient of the People’s Choice Art Award. Congratulations to these deserving prize winners. Ms Rita Basilio Art Coordinator

The Year 10 sculpture class attended an excursion to Sculpture by the Sea Exhibition at Cottesloe Beach. This excursion was an invaluable learning experience for the boys who were developing their understanding and appreciation of the sculptural art form. The Year 10s also engaged in drawing mechanical subject matter and this work was submitted for entry into the Adelphe King Prize for Drawing. This esteemed award is sponsored by former Art teacher of the College, Mrs Adelphe King, and is awarded for the most outstanding drawing produced by a Year 10 student. Adelphe recently nominated former Art student Lance Taylor (’82) to take over the honour of judging this prestigious award. Congratulations to the winner of the 2016 Adelphe King Prize for Drawing, Joshua Nguyen (10.5) and to the runner up prize winners Alistair Hunt (10.6) and Max Thorniley (10.5).

A number of other art awards have been presented for outstanding achievement including the Auxiliary Art Award. As the name suggests, this prize is sponsored by the College Auxiliary and aims to encourage and support Middle School students in their artistic pursuits. This year the winner of the Auxiliary Art Award was Jayden Egitto (9.3). Several Trinity boys had their artwork selected for the prestigious Angelico Art Exhibition which showcases outstanding artworks produced by students in Catholic schools. Among the individual student achievements, Thomas Payne (10.3) won a Highly Commended prize in the Angelico Art Exhibition. Other talented students with artwork in this prestigious art exhibition included Joshua Foti (12.4), Jesse Pigram (12.7), Wynton Galloway (11.6), Kyron Milosavljevic (10.7), Anders Phan (7.5), Miguel Lopes (7.4) and Nehemiah Reuben (7.8). The Student Art Exhibition held at the College from 17–21 October, provided an opportunity for us to observe the artistic skills and knowledge of our talented students. A Parents & Friends viewing evening was held on Tuesday 18 October, where our College community came together
