Junior School Music The Junior School Music program has been thriving with many different ensembles and performance groups this year. Mrs Ann Clarke Music Specialist
The Year 6 Wind Ensemble began its second year with the boys learning a brass or woodwind instrument. Pleasingly, the students have gradually improved over the year. Their first performance was at the Junior/Middle School Music Night, closely followed by performances at the Catholic Performing Arts Festival and finally, Presentation Night in December. These boys will join the Senior School ensembles in 2017. The Junior String Ensemble recorded high numbers of participating boys this year, with many Year 5s joining the ensemble for the first time. The three Junior School choirs performed at both the Junior/Middle School Music Night and Catholic Performing Arts Festival and were rewarded with Honourable Mentions for each performance. The Junior Vocal Ensemble also won the Brigidine Sisters’ Shield for their Non-Sacred Choral Singing. Many of the Junior School boys also performed, using their own instrument, or in small groups. Congratulations to Gabriel Pereira (4G) in winning the Primary School Solo Performance Shield for his solo piano performance.
