9.6 Rear-end electronics control unit The rear-end electronics control unit communicates with the gateway via CAN Comfort. The rear-end electronics control unit includes several function groups and functions. These will be explained in more detail below.
Lighting function group The daytime running lights (front left/right) are controlled by way of a CAN signal from the front-end electronics control unit. The rear left and right brake lights and the high-level brake light are controlled by a hard-wired signal from the brake light 9_59_11
switch and via a CAN signal (redundant). The back-up lights are activated by a switch on vehicles with manual transmission and by a CAN signal from the selector lever in the case of automatic transmissions. The tail lights, rear fog lights and license plate lighting are also connected to this control unit.
