2.9 Ignition system

The components and functions of the ignition system such as • spark plugs • individual ignition coils with integral driver • 2 knock sensors are the same as on the previous model.

The country-specific change intervals for the spark plugs, plug type, heat rating and tightening torques can be found in the PIWIS information system/maintenance schedule.

Differential Hall-effect sensor

Similar to the Panamera and Cayenne with Auto Start Stop function, the differential Hall-effect system is used to determine the engine speed instead of the previous inductive pick-up. In addition to detecting the engine speed and reference mark, the new multiple Hall-effect sensor also detects the direction of rotation of the engine. This function enables the engine to be started very quickly. The speed sensor, which is installed on the transmission bell housing, features three integrated Halleffect sensors (A - B - C).
