7_05_11 The buttons are combined into function groups. They have been arranged in such a way as to allow fast, uncomplicated and intuitive operation for the driver.

The combination control stalk allows the driver to control the wiper and washer system, direction indicators, cruise control and functions of the multi-function display without taking the hands off the steering wheel.

The five round instruments, which are typical of the 911, provide all the important information about the operating condition of the vehicle. As on previous models, the central tachometer - as the most important element for the driver - contains all the main information, such a speed, rpm, selected gear and warning and indicator lights.

7.3 Steering wheel

The sports steering wheel, with a steering wheel rim in smooth-finish leather, is standard for all models and includes mechanical steering column adjustment. The adjustment travel for steering wheel reach adjustment has been increased by 0.39˝ (10 mm). This enhances operating comfort and driver’s seat ergonomics for sporty driving.

Models equipped with PDK can be shifted manually using shift buttons on the steering wheel. The shift buttons themselves have a high-quality finish. The steering wheel can be adjusted electrically for the first time in conjunction with the fully electric sports seats (14-way) and the Adaptive Sports seats Plus (18-way).

In contrast to the previous model, the steering wheel trim and airbag module are now always finished in the interior color. Steering wheel heating is available as an option. The SportDesign steering wheel continues to be available as an option. Shift paddles made of light alloy are used in combination with PDK. With the multi-function steering wheel in leather, the driver can quickly and easily operate a variety of functions by means of multi-function buttons and thumb rollers, e.g. audio/communication, on-board computer and telephone, even while driving.

The multi-function steering wheel with trim elements is available in Mahogany, Aluminum Look and Carbon. In such cases, the steering wheel rim includes decorative inlays. The functions are the same as those of the leather multi-function steering wheel. The multi-function steering wheel with trim elements is always equipped with steering wheel heating.
