1 Sensor magnet fitted in the cover: The sensor magnet scans the Hall element. The change in the magnetic field lines is detected through the shift cover. 2 Sensor magnet visible: The sensor magnet is permanently moulded onto the locking lever. This means there can be no change in its position over its service life.

3 Neutral detection sensor

3b.10 Neutral detection sensor

The neutral detection sensor is used to detect the neutral position of the transmission. Auto Start Stop can only be activated when no gear is engaged.

The change in the direction of the magnetic field is detected by way of a Hall-effect sensor. The electronics integrated in the sensor convert the detected signal into a pulse-width-modulated (PWM) signal and output it to the engine control module.
