5.4 Slide/tilt roof

General

The new optional slide/tilt roof is available for the first time with an external design in the 911 Carrera models. This means that in contrast to the previous models, on which the sliding roof moved into the body between the outer skin and roof liner, it now opens by sliding over the outer skin. This has two advantages. Firstly, the opening area is increased by approximately 30%. And secondly, there are no headroom restrictions as the roof lining no longer has to be lowered to make room for the slide/tilt roof when this option is selected. The newly developed net-type wind deflector provides optimum wind protection and comfort. It retracts in several stages, depending on the speed. The roof can be opened at speeds up to 124 mph (200 km/h)and closed up to the top speed.

Emergency closing if the roof drive fails
