Electrics and electronics 9 9.3 Auto Start Stop function

All 911 Carrera (991) models feature an Auto Start Stop function as standard. This switches off the engine automatically when the vehicle has come to a standstill, e.g. when waiting at traffic lights, and the brake is held. On vehicles with manual transmission, this takes place when the shift lever is neutral and the clutch pedal is not pressed. The tachometer falls to zero and the driver is informed about activation of the Auto Start Stop function by a symbol in the multi-function display (TFT display) of the instrument cluster. The audio and communication systems remain switched on despite the engine being switched off and the climate control also maintains the selected temperature level. In the NEDC, this makes it possible to achieve a reduction in fuel consumption. For the first time, the 911 Carrera models also feature the Auto Start Stop function in combination with the 7-speed manual transmission. Other functions related to the Auto Start Stop system are described in Group 2 (DME).
