Viaggiare in inverno ha un fascino particolare. Dopo aver atteso nel mese di dicembre la neve, ecco che le piste si colorano di bianco per gli appassionati dello sci. A loro abbiamo dedicato una piccola guida alle località preferite dai campioni, sedi di gare internazionali, dove è possibile con un po’ di prudenza mettersi alla prova come una Sofia Goggia o un Christof Innerhofer. Abbiamo fatto anche un salto in Finlandia, dove il freddo è freddo sul serio. Ma naturalmente non mancano anche le località e le destinazioni calde per quanti vogliono invece ritemprarsi con una vacanza esotica. Aldilà di questo, ci permettiamo di consigliare però anche due mete meno tradizionali e facilmente raggiungibili. Sono due città spesso fuori dagli itinerari classici, ma non per questo meno interessanti e ricche di attrazioni artistiche in questo nuovo 2023. Che è l’anno di Bergamo e Brescia, nominate in coppia Capitali italiane della Cultura. La scelta è avvenuta nel luglio del 2020, il Governo italiano ha voluto così rispondere a una proposta avanzata dalle due città “illuminandole” del titolo come luce di speranza e cura in seguito al difficile periodo vissuto dai territori durante la pandemia. Il tema attorno a cui si articolano le tante iniziative in programma è proprio quello della “Città Illuminata”, un percorso attraverso cultura e bellezza che vuole incrementare la valorizzazione e la fruizione del patrimonio culturale materiale e immateriale.

THERE ARE ALSO BERGAMO AND BRESCIA

Traveling in winter has a special charm. After waiting for snow in December, the slopes turn white for ski enthusiasts. We have dedicated a small guide to them to the places preferred by champions, venues for international competitions, where it is possible, with a little prudence, to put yourself to the test like a Sofia Goggia or a Christof Innerhofer. We also made a trip to Finland, where the cold is really cold. But of course there are also hot spots and destinations for those who want to unwind with an exotic vacation. Beyond this, however, we also take the liberty of recommending two less traditional and easily accessible destinations. They are two cities often off the beaten track, but no less interesting and full of artistic attractions in this new 2023. Which is the year of Bergamo and Brescia, nominated together as Italian Capitals of Culture. The choice took place in July 2020, the Italian Government thus wanted to respond to a proposal made by the two cities by “illuminating” them with the title as a light of hope and cure following the difficult period experienced by the territories during the pandemic. The theme around which the many planned initiatives are structured is precisely that of the “Illuminated City”, a journey through culture and beauty that aims to increase the valorisation and use of the tangible and intangible cultural heritage.

CAPODANNO CINESE 2023

Arriva l’anno del Coniglio e la comunità cinese di Milano torna a festeggiare insieme a tutta la città. Il Capodanno Cinese, anche detto Capodanno Lunare o Festa di Primavera, è una delle feste più importanti del calendario cinese, ed è un’occasione per augurarsi prosperità e fortuna per l’anno in arrivo.

Festeggia all’Arco della Pace. L’evento della comunità cinese. Domenica 22 gennaio 2023, all’Arco della Pace (e non più in via Paolo Sarpi, la Chinatown Milanese) si terranno le celebrazioni, dalle 14:00 in poi. L’evento, festoso e gioioso, sarà animato dalla tradizionale esibizione di danza del drago e del leone, dimostrazioni di arti marziali, lanterne e altri spettacoli culturali.

During Fashion Week, some of the city’s most important destinations, including exhibition spaces and showrooms, are animated by fashion shows, presentations and reserved events featuring top Italian designers.

Il Mudec di Milano omaggia, a 110 anni dalla nascita, il grande fotografo ungherese Robert Capa con una mostra in programma dall’11 novembre 2022 al 19 marzo 2023.

Il percorso espositivo ripercorre attraverso oltre 80 stampe originali i principali reportage di guerra e di viaggio realizzati dal fotografo in un periodo storico particolarmente ricco di eventi che hanno segnato il Novecento. Alcuni scatti mai esposti prima in una mostra italiana, dagli esordi del fotografo a Berlino e Parigi (1932-1936) alla guerra civile spagnola (1936-1939); dall’invasione giapponese in Cina (1938) alla seconda guerra mondiale (1941-1945); dal reportage di viaggio in Unione Sovietica (1947) a quello sulla nascita di Israele (1948-1950), fino all’ultimo incarico come fotografo di guerra in Indocina (1954), dove troverà la morte. Circa vent’anni di carriera che l’han portato a raccontare la storia dal periodo tra le due guerre mondiali all’inizio della guerra fredda. The Mudec of Milan pays homage, 110 years after its birth, to the great Hungarian photographer Robert Capa with an exhibition scheduled from 11 November 2022 to 19 March 2023.

The exhibition itinerary retraces through over 80 prints the main war and travel reports made are original by the photographer in a particularly rich historical period of events that marked the twentieth century. Some shots never exhibited before in an Italian exhibition, from the beginning of photographer in Berlin and Paris (1932-1936) to the civil war Spanish (1936-1939); since the Japanese invasion of China (1938) to World War II (1941-1945); from the travel report to the Soviet Union (1947) to that on the birth of Israel (1948-1950), up to the last assignment as a war photographer in Indochina (1954), where he will findthe death. About twenty years of career that led him to tell the story from the period between the two world wars at the beginning of the cold war.

CURIOSITIES AND ODDITIES UNDER THE MOLE!

La città di Torino è ricca di attrazioni turistiche da poter visitare: i musei, le chiese, le piazze e tanto altro. Se siete però alla ricerca di qualcosa di più particolare da scoprire, oltre ai grandi classici, abbiamo stilato una lista delle cose più curiose e completamente gratuite da poter vedere nella città sabauda Alcune di queste curiosità sono legate a storie, aneddoti e leggende su Torino e su alcuni importanti personaggi che vi hanno abitato. Quindi, se volete fare un tour un po’ diverso della città, non perdete queste piccole chicche nascoste nel capoluogo piemontese.

LA FETTA DI POLENTA

Casa Scaccabarozzi, questo il vero nome dell’edificio, è meglio conosciuto dai torinesi con il nome di “Fetta di Polenta” per la sua strana struttura ed il caratteristico colore giallo. Lo strano edificio ideato da Alessandro

Antonelli misura nel suo lato più stretto solo 54 centimetri. Si trattò di una vera e propria scommessa dell’architetto della Mole Antonelliana, il quale, per dimostrare la sicurezza dell’edificio, vi abitò con la moglie per alcuni anni.

IL TORO CHE ESCE DAL MURO

Si tratta di un’opera d’arte contemporanea dell’artista Richi Ferrero posizionata sul muro di Quadrato, il Relais Urbano realizzato dal Gruppo Building nel complesso dell’antico convento di Sant’Agostino. L’opera, che ritrae il simbolo cittadino, ritrae l’animale nell’atto di sfondare la parete quasi a voler uscire da un momento all’altro per conquistarsi piazzetta Visitazione su cui l’immobile si affaccia.

IL SOTTOMARINO NEL PARCO

Non tutti sanno che all’interno del Parco del Valentino si trova uno dei pochi reperti storiconavali di importanti dimensioni rimasti in Italia. Si tratta del sottomarino Andrea Provana, così chiamato in onore dell’Ammiraglio piemontese che partecipò alla battaglia di Lepanto nel 1571. Potete osservarlo dall’esterno oppure provare a prenotare telefonicamente una visita guidata con un socio dell’Associazione Marinai.

IL PALAZZO COL PIERCING

Ebbene sì, avete capito bene si tratta proprio di un palazzo con un piercing. Si trova nel centro di Torino e si tratta di una installazione artistica che doveva essere temporanea e che invece, amata dal pubblico, è diventata permanente. L’opera, che si chiama in realtà “Baci Urbani”, è stata ideata dall’architetto Corrado Levi in collaborazione con il gruppo di artisti Cliostraat.

IL PORTONE DEL DIAVOLO

Torino è una città magica, per le sue bellezze architettoniche, artistiche e culinarie secondo alcuni, perché è al centro dei due triangoli della magia nera e magia bianca secondo altri. Se siete appassionati di esoterismo o se solo volete vedere qualcosa di particolare in città, vi consigliamo la porta di Palazzo Trucchi di Levaldigi, detto anche Portone del Diavolo per tutte le storie e le leggende ad esso legate.

IL DITO DI COLOMBO

Se siete alla ricerca di un po’ di fortuna potete passare da Piazza Castello per sfregare la mano sul dito di Cristoforo Colombo. Gli studenti torinesi lo

fanno prima di un esame. L’Altorilievo, inaugurato nel 1923, che raffigura il celebre navigatore è opera dell’artista Dino Somà. Nel corso degli anni, il dito si è assottigliato talmente tanto a causa di questa tradizione, che è stato necessario sostituirlo.

LA PANCHINA DEGLI INNAMORATI

Il Giardino Roccioso, splendida area verde nel Parco del Valentino, ospita la Panchina Innamorata, una scultura raffigurante una panchina su cui sono seduti due lampioni che sembrano abbracciati. L’opera è stata realizzata da Rodolfo Marasciuolo, il giardiniere-artista che da anni rende ancora più belli giardini e aree verdi del capoluogo piemontese con le sue opere. Oltre alla panchina, nel giardino troverete numerose altre sculture assolutamente da scoprire.

A SLICE OF POLENTA

Casa Scaccabarozzi, the real name of the building, is better known to the Turinese by the name of “Fetta di Polenta” due to its strange structure and characteristic yellow colour. The strange building designed by Alessandro Antonelli measures only 54 centimeters on its narrowest side. It was an actual bet by the architect of the Mole Antonelliana, who, to demonstrate the safety of the building, lived there with his wife for a few years.

THE BULL COMING OUT OF THE WALL

A contemporary work of art by the artist Richi Ferrero positioned on the wall of Quadrato, the Relais Urbano created by Gruppo Building in the complex of the ancient convent of Sant’Agostino. The work, which portrays the city symbol, features the animal in the act of breaking through the wall as if it wants to leave at any moment to conquer the little square Visitazione, which the building overlooks.

THE SUBMARINE IN THE PARK

Not everyone knows that inside the Parco del Valentino there is one of few historical-naval relics of important dimensions left in Italy. The Andrea Provana submarine, named in honor of the Piedmontese admiral who participated in the battle of Lepanto in 1571. You can observe it from the outside or book a guided tour by telephone with a member of the Sailors’ Association.

THE PALACE WITH A PIERCING

Well yes, you read right, it is really a building with a piercing. It is located in the center of Turin and it is an art installation that was supposed to be temporary but instead, loved by the public, has become permanent. The work, which is actually called “Baci Urbani”, was conceived by architect Corrado Levi in collaboration with the Cliostraat group of artists.

THE DEVIL’S DOOR

Turin is a magical city, for its architectural, artistic and culinary beauty according to some since it is at the center of the two triangles of black magic and white magic, according to many. If you are passionate about esotericism or if you just want to see something special in the city, we recommend the gate of Palazzo Trucchi in Levaldigi, also known as the Devil’s Gate for all the stories and legends associated with it.

COLUMBUS’ FINGER

If you are looking for a little luck you can go to Piazza Castello to rub your hand on the finger of Christopher Columbus. Turin students do it before an exam. The high relief, inaugurated in 1923, which depicts the famous navigator is the work of the artist Dino Somà. Over the years, the finger has shrunk so much due to this tradition that it has had to be replaced.

THE BENCH OF LOVERS

The Rocky Garden, a splendid green area in the Valentino Park, houses the Panchina Innamorata, a sculpture depicting a bench on which two lampposts are sitting, seemingly to embrace each other. The work was created by Rodolfo Marasciuolo, the gardener-artist who for years has been making the gardens and green areas of the Piedmontese capital even more beautiful with his works. In addition to the bench, in the garden you will find numerous other sculptures that are absolutely worth discovering.

VALLE D’AOSTA CERVINIA: LA VENTINA

Una pista che vale una giornata intera sugli sci. La pista Ventina è il gioiello di Cervinia, un interminabile tracciato con neve sempre impeccabile e che metterà alla prova la vostra resistenza. Qualche numero? 11 km di lunghezza dalla straordinaria quota di 3476 metri del Plateau Rosà giù fino al paese a 2026 metri. Un dislivello impressionante per una pista tutta in campo aperto, ampia, con vari tratti con pendenze severe, curvoni, vari tipi di terreno. Tutto quello che uno sciatore esperto può volere da una giornata sugli sci.

LOMBARDIA STELVIO, IL GIOIELLO DI BORMIO

Una pista unica, varia, tecnica, estenuante. Per rendersi conto di cosa sia la pista Stelvio di Bormio basta andare ad assistere alla discesa di Coppa del mondo di fine anno e vedere le smorfie di fatica dei campioni che arrivano al traguardo dopo una gara estenuante. 1000 metri di dislivello e oltre 3 chilometri di emozioni allo stato puro su un tracciato largo, con cambi di pendenza, dossi, curve che sembrano essere stati disegnati a tavolino per creare la pista perfetta.

PONTE DI LEGNO: LA PISTA PARADISO

Sul versante esposto a nord del Passo del Tonale la pista Paradiso è uno degli highligts del comprensorio sciistico che comprende anche Ponte di Legno. 4 chilometri di lunghezza e una caratteristica particolare, un muro pendente ma non eccessivo ma lunghissimo e a pendenza costante che sembra voglia regalarti confidenza ma in realtà va gestito. Perché gli sci prendono progressivamente velocità e preso l’acido lattico indolenzisce le game. Un tornante a sinistra e si tira il fiato allungando le curve giù fino al Passo che si raggiunge dopo aver coperto un dislivello di oltre 700 metri.

CORTINA: L’OLIMPIA DELLE TOFANE

La spina dorsale del comprensorio sciistico di Cortina d’Ampezzo. L’Olympia delle Tofane è una pista che ha fatto la storia dello sci e che lo farà nei prossimi anni visto che ospiterà i Mondiali di

sci alpino di Cortina 2021 e le gare femminili delle Olimpiadi di Milano Cortina del 2026. Partenza a quota 2350 metri, un salto iconico nel bel mezzo di due faraglioni dolomitici con un muro vertiginoso e 700 metri di dislivello con pendenze che vanno addolcendosi man mano che si scivola verso valle. Il panorama è impagabile, oltre 2,6 chilometri di curve in velocità lo sono altrettanto.

MALGA CIAPELA, SULLA MARMOLADA

Una pista entusiasmante in uno degli angoli più affascinanti delle Dolomiti ovvero sulla Marmolada. Prima di partire non perdere una foto dalla terrazza panoramica della stazione della funivia a Punta Rocca, una vista indimenticabile. Poi preparati a goderti la neve croccante (si parte da 3269 metri di quota) su un tracciato che discende la montagna tra muri, alcuni davvero impegnativi, e tratti più stretti e dolci che seguono la morfologia della montagna. Dopo 12 chilometri e dopo aver superato il Passo Fedaia potrete riposarvi sul lungo falsopiano che riporta al primo tronco della Funivia della Marmolda.

ALTO ADIGE

SANTA CRISTINA, IL SASLONG

La celebre pista di Coppa del mondo della Val Gardena è uno dei tracciati da fare almeno una volta nella vita. Più volte è meglio, mai, non lo si può perdonare a uno sci addicted. Il tracciato sovrasta Santa Cristina, si parte in campo aperto con una pendenza docile e poi si fa sul serio quando ci si incunea nel bosco. I salti che si vedono fare agli atleti in tv a velocità umane sono divertenti cambi di pendenza che portano in picchiata da 2246 metri fino ai 1400 dell’arrivo.

ALTO ADIGE

ALTA BADIA: LA GRAN RISA

Una classicissima del circuito di Coppa del mondo. La pista Gran Risa è la pista da gigante praticamente per antonomasia. Muri vertiginosi, cambi di pendenza, zero tregua dall’inizio alla fine. Una pista nera comunque sciabile e praticamente tarata su misura sugli sciatori esperti che vogliono difficoltà tecniche ma pur collegando una curva all’altra. Emozioni per oltre 600 metri di dislivello giù fino a La Villa. Vi sentirete campioni.

ALTO ADIGE

PLAN DE CORONES: LA TERRIBILE NERA

Quasi 5 chilometri di sviluppo per più di 1200 metri di dislivello. La pista Sylvester di Plan de Corones è una delle black 5, le “terribili” piste nere del comprensorio di Kronplatz. Un tracciato “spaccagambe” con muri a ripetizione e un lungo falsopiano finale in cui si può - finalmente - prendere fiato. La partenza è in campo aperto, poi ci si tuffa nei boschi e si finisce a Brunico al di sotto dei 1000 metri ma non preoccupatevi, esposizione e cura maniacale dei tracciati rendono la neve sulla Sylvester (quasi) sempre compatta e aggressiva.

TOSCANA ABETONE: LE CURVE DI ZENO COLÒ

La Zeno 3 è una delle tre varianti della pista disegnata da Zeno Colò che scende dal Monte Gomito all’Abetone. Si parte in campo aperto a 2000 metri di quota, il pendio è largo, di difficoltà intermedia e con neve perfetta fino a stagione inoltrata. Si entra nel bosco e si possono apprezzare cambi di pendenza e curve che portano fino alla stazione di partenza della cabinovia, cuore del comprensorio pistoiese. Da fare e rifare apprezzandone le varianti ed entrando nello spirito di questo luogo magico per lo sci italiano.

ABRUZZO

ROCCARASO: IL MONTE PRATELLO

La pista Direttissima del Monte Pratello è una delle più tecniche del comprensorio dell’Alto Sangro, un must di chi si reca a sciare a Roccaraso - Rivisondoli, il più importante comprensorio sciistico dell’Abruzzo e di tutto il centro sud Italia. E’ una pista omologata per le competizioni Fis, 1,7 chilometri di lunghezza per 600 metri di dislivello, numeri importanti, soprattutto per le ski area appenniniche. Un tracciato da intenditori che si incunea in un anfiteatro naturale partendo in campo aperto con un muro imponente per poi continuare nel bosco fino al fondovalle.

In order to understand what the Stelvio slope in Bormio is all about, just go watch the World Cup downhill at the end of the year and see the fatigued grimaces of the champions who reach the finish line after an exhausting race. It’s 1,000 meters in altitude and over 3 kilometers of pure emotion on a wide track, with gradient changes, and bumps and curves that seem to have been designed to create the perfect slope.

WOODEN BRIDGE: THE PARADISE TRACK

On the north-facing side of Passo del Tonale, the Paradiso slope is one of the highlights of the ski area which also includes Ponte di Legno. 4 kilometers long and particularly featuring a slightly leaning and very long wall with a constant slope that seems to beg to give you confidence while in reality it must be finessed. Skis gradually pick up speed and lactic acid makes your game sore. A hairpin bend to the left while you catch your breath as you lengthen the curves down to the Pass which you reach after covering a difference in height of over 700 metres.

VENETO CORTINA: THE OLYMPIA OF THE TOFANE

The backbone of the Cortina d’Ampezzo ski area, the Olympia delle Tofane is a slope that has made history in skiing and will continue to do so in the coming years as it will host the Cortina 2021 Alpine Ski World Championships and the women’s competitions of the Milan Cortina 2026 Olympics. Departing at an altitude of 2350 meters , experience an iconic leap in the middle of two Dolomite

stacks with a vertiginous wall and 700 meters in altitude with slopes that gradually soften as you slide towards the valley. The view is priceless and over 2.6 kilometers of fast bends are just as good.

CIAPELA, ON THE MARMOLADA

An exciting slope in one of the most fascinating corners of the Dolomites, or on the Marmolada. Before leaving, don’t miss a photo op from the panoramic terrace of the Punta Rocca cable car station, an unforgettable view.

Then get ready to enjoy the crunchy snow (starting from 3269 meters above sea level) on a route that descends the mountain between walls, some of which are really demanding, with narrower and gentler sections that follow the morphology of the mountain.

After 12 kilometers and after having passed the Fedaia Pass, you can rest on the long slight slope that takes you back to the first section of the Marmolda cableway.

The famous Val Gardena World Cup slope is one of the must do paths at least once in a lifetime. Even more than once is better, you can’t forgive a ski addict. The route overlooks Santa Cristina where it starts in an open field with a gentle slope and then gets serious when wedged into the woods. The jumps that you see athletes doing on TV at human speeds are amusing changes that lead from 2246 meters up to the 1400 of the finish line.

Dal momento che il paese nordico è celebre anche per i suoi eccezionali atleti sportivi, quale modo migliore di coniugare le due cose se non con una maratona in calzini su sentieri innevati immersi nei boschi? L’annuale campionato finlandese Woolsock Run prevede diverse gare (da 3 a 6 e 12 km), adatte a grandi e piccini.

JÄMSÄ CAMPIONATO MONDIALE DI KICKSLED, 10-11 MARZO

Lo slittino in stile nordico. Il Campionato mondiale di kicksled - la classica versione finlandese della slitta composta da una sedia di legno e da lunghi sci – è un altro appuntamento imperdibile. In Finlandia il kicksled è uno sport molto praticato e seguito, per questo in occasione dell’evento annuale, che quest’anno segna il 32° anniversario, vengono organizzate tante altre attività, come pattinaggio su ghiaccio e campeggio invernale, per arricchire il weekend all’insegna dell’attività fisica e del divertimento sulla neve.

MULTIA GARA DI RENNE IN LAPPONIA, 25-26 MARZO

Nella Lapponia finlandese ci sono tante persone quante renne, circa 180.000 esemplari, ormai divenuti parte integrante della vita e della cultura dell’area artica. Per questo l’annuale campionato locale di gara di renne, che si tiene a Inari fin dal 1950, è un appuntamento attesissimo. In occasione di questa competizione gli spettatori provano l’emozione di vedere i concorrenti sugli sci e le renne sfrecciare lungo il tracciato di 1.000 metri previsto per la gara. Una sfida molto impegnativa che richiede grande abilità e molta preparazione, tanto che molti fantini esperti si esercitano fin da bambini.

Potete arrivare in aereo, in nave o in auto. Anche in treno da San Pietroburgo, in Russia. In aereo l’aeroporto di Helsinki-Vantaa (HEL), vicino alla capitale, è il più grande aeroporto del Paese e offre numerosi collegamenti da e per altre parti del Paese, nonché con l’estero. QUAL È IL PERIODO DELL’ANNO MIGLIORE PER VISITARE LA FINLANDIA?

HOW TO REACH FINLAND?

Agrigento, Valle dei Templi Valley of the Temples

Ovviamente l’isola è vasta e meriterebbe di essere visitata tutta – e sicuramente lo si può fare avendone il tempo e le possibilità –ma c’è una parte di questo affascinante territorio di cui vogliamo parlarvi in modo più approfondito: l’agrigentino.

Partiamo, quindi, con la città che dà il nome a questa zona: Agrigento, città collinare sulla costa sudoccidentale. Fondata intorno al 581 a. C., Agrigento sorge in un territorio in cui si insediarono i vari popoli che lasciarono traccia nell’isola. È nota come Città dei templi per la sua distesa di templi dorici dell’antica città greca posti nella cosiddetta Valle dei Templi, inserita, nel 1997, tra i patrimoni dell’umanità dall’UNESCO. Il tour a piedi della valle dei Templi – che non potete non fareha una durata di circa due ore e trenta, contando il tragitto da un’estremità della valle all’altra e per coloro che lo desiderano o che hanno problemi di deambulazione, è disponibile anche un servizio navetta.

Già che siete in zona, vale la pena visitare anche il Giardino della Kolymbethra con il Tempio di Efesto e gli antichi ipogei, un’area archeologica dove storia e natura si fondono. Prende il nome dalla kolymbethra, una piscina creata convogliando l’acqua che trasudava dalla pietra porosa. Lo spazio nacque come luogo di vacanza per i tiranni di Akgragas e punto di incontro dei cittadini. Oggi è curato dal FAI e ospita un giardino mediterraneo con alberi di agrumi, pistacchi e mandorle. Una volta giunti in città potete visitare il monastero del Santo Spirito, Costruito durante il medioevo, nel XIII secolo, il monastero è stato la dimora delle suore benedettine fino a metà dell’Ottocento. In seguito, ebbe anche altre funzioni, dapprima come mensa per

i pover e in seguito come deposito d’armi nel corso della seconda guerra mondiale. Dal dopoguerra ad oggi il monastero è diventato un museo civico, sotto la guida delle stesse suore benedettine. Non mancate di assaggiare i dolci di mandorle di produzione propria, fatti direttamente dalle suore: saranno anche un ottimo souvenir. Sempre in tema di chiese, c’è la cattedrale di San Gerlando dedicata al patrono di Agrigento. Come spesso accade, l’edificio fu costruito sui resti di precedenti luoghi di culto: in questo caso del tempio di Atena Lindia e Zeus Atabyrios, di epoca greca. Successivamente vi sono tracce di catacombe di epoca romana tra il II e il III secolo, fino alla costruzione della chiesa in epoca bizantina con la caratteristica pianta a forma di croce latina. Visitando la chiesa fate caso a un particolare fenomeno acustico: parlando a bassa voce all’ingresso della cattedrale, infatti, la voce viene trasmessa fino all’abside. A pochi passi dalla cattedrale troverete anche la Scalinata degli Artisti: si tratta della scalinata più colorata di Agrigento, in cui gli scalini sono stati dipinti e decorati con scritte e disegni. Questa piccola opera d’arte è stata anche inserita tra le scale più colorate al mondo. Prima di lasciare il cuore della città un’altra tappa è d’obbligo visto che la città è stata la patria di Luigi Pirandello, uno dei più grandi drammaturghi e poeti italiani, vincitore del premio Nobel per la letteratura nel 1934. A pochi chilometri dal centro storico è possibile visitare la sua casa natale, oggi riconvertita in museo. La struttura risale alla fine del Settecento, e subì gravi danni durante il secondo conflitto mondiale a causa dell’esplosione di un vicino deposito di munizioni. Il piano terra della casamuseo ospita periodicamente mostre temporanee dedicate a Pirandello, mentre al piano superiore sono esposte prime edizioni delle sue opere, fotografie, manoscritti e oggetti personali dell’autore. Ma ora spostiamoci dalla città vera e propria per esplorare un monumento naturale conosciuto in tutto il mondo: la Scala dei Turchi. Situata a circa 13 km da Agrigento, a Realmonte, la Scala dei Turchi è uno dei luoghi più fotografati di tutta la Sicilia, grazie alla sua incredibile conformazione dalle linee morbide e al suo colore bianco candido. Si tratta di una enorme falesia in marna bianca che digrada come una grande scala verso il mare blu, splendendo sotto i sole grazie al suo colore bianco. È composta da roccia sedimentaria argillosa e calcarea, e tra i gradoni di questa scala ci si accomoda per prendere il sole e scattare incredibili foto. Il suo nome deriva delle scorribande dei pirati saraceni (apostrofati come “Turchi”) che, approdati in questi lidi, approfittavano della conformazione a scala per salire fino al centro e saccheggiare. Negli ultimi anni la Scala è diventata un’attrazione turistica anche per la popolarità ottenuta in seguito ai romanzi dell’ispettore Montalbano scritti da Andrea Camilleri che la fa diventare protagonista in una scena de “La prima indagine di Montalbano”. Nella via principale del vicino paese Porto Empedocle (via Roma) campeggia inoltre anche un murales intitolato

“la via verso casa” realizzato dall’artista Salvo Ligama che rappresenta lo sguardo magnetico di Camilleri che sporge la testa da una persiana. E già che vi trovate presso Realmonte, vi consigliamo di far visita a Capo Rosso, una spiaggia sabbiosa molto bella. Sulla parte destra, potrete fare una camminata che vi porterà presso un piccolo porto con delle formazioni rocciose perfette per essere oggetto di una veloce sessione fotografica. Sicuramente meno affollata della Scala dei Turchi, è anche un luogo ideale per nuotare e riposarsi, oltre che per ammirare uno splendido tramonto. Altro luogo dell’agrigentino che affascinerà soprattutto gli amanti del mare, della natura e del birdwatching è la Riserva Naturale Orientata di Torre Salsa, che si trova tra Siculiana Marina ed Eraclea Minoa. Una costa incontaminata dove le falesie di gesso si alternano alle marne calcaree ricoperte talvolta da strati di argilla. Il territorio della Riserva, esteso per 761,62 ettari, è caratterizzato da una vegetazione erbacea e cespugliosa che ricopre l’ambiente e talvolta consente l’accesso alla splendida spiaggia dove il mare è limpidissimo, i fondali rigogliosi di flora e ricchi di fauna. La Torre Salsa, antica torre di avvistamento, si trova nel cuore di questa oasi e domina la sommità di un piccolo promontorio d’argilla. Sul mare un frastagliato tavolato roccioso crea una miriade di sentieri, dove i pesciolini guizzano veloci tra le alghe e i crostacei trovano rifugio. In questo bellissimo tratto di costa siciliana, è inoltre possibile scorgere l’alternarsi di ripide falesie, immense dune di sabbia e solitarie spiagge, meta degli amanti del mare limpido e delle aree poco

affollate. Già che siete in zona, se vi avanzano un paio d’ore, non perdetevi la pittoresca cittadina di Siculiana dove visitare il Castello Chiaramonte, il Santuario del Santissimo Crocefisso, la Torre dell’Orologio e il Museo della Memoria e del Territorio con le sue installazioni a cielo aperto.

Obviously the island is vast and deserves to be visited in its entirety - and certainly, it can be done if you have the time and the possibilities - but there is a part of this fascinating area that we want to tell you about in more detail: the Agrigento area.

So let’s start with the city that gives its name to this area: Agrigento, a hilly city on the southwest coast. Founded around 581 BC. C., Agrigento rises in an area where various peoples who left traces on the island settled. It is known as the City of Temples for its expanse of ancient Greek Doric temples located in the so-called Valley of the Temples, deemed a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. The walking tour of the valley of the Temples - which you must not miss - lasts about two and a half hours, counting the journey from one end of the valley to the other. A shuttle service is also available for those who desire, or who have walking problems.

While you are in the area, it is also worth visiting the Garden of Kolymbethra with the Temple of Hephaestus and the ancient hypogea, an archaeological area where history and nature merge. It takes its name from the kolymbethra, a pool created by channeling water that oozed from the

porous stone. The space was born as a vacation spot for the tyrants of Akgragas and a meeting point for the citizens. Today it is looked after by the FAI and hosts a Mediterranean garden with citrus, pistachio and almond trees. Once in the city you can visit the monastery of the Holy Spirit. Built during the Middle Ages, in the thirteenth century, the monastery was home to the Benedictine nuns until the midnineteenth century. Later, it had other functions; first as a soup kitchen and later as an arms depot during the Second World War. Since the post-war period, the monastery has become a civic museum under the guidance of the Benedictine nuns themselves. Do not miss the homemade almond sweets, made directly by the nuns: they are also an excellent souvenir. Keeping on the subject of churches, there is the cathedral of San Gerlando dedicated to the patron saint of Agrigento. As often happens, the building was built on the remains of previous places of worship: in this case the temple of Athena Lindia and Zeus Atabyrios, from the Greek era. Subsequently there are traces of catacombs from the Roman era between the 2nd and 3rd century, up to the construction of the church in the Byzantine era with the characteristic plan in the shape of a Latin cross. When visiting the church, notice a particular acoustic phenomenon: speaking in a low voice at the entrance to the cathedral, in fact, the voice is transmitted up to the apse. A few steps from the cathedral you will also find the Scalinata degli Artisti: it is the most colorful staircase in Agrigento, where the steps have been painted and decorated with writing and drawings. This little work of art has also been listed among the most colorful stairs in the world. Before leaving the heart of the city, another stop is a must since the city was the birthplace

of Luigi Pirandello, one of the greatest Italian playwrights and poets, and winner of the Nobel Prize for literature in 1934. A few kilometers from historic center it is possible to visit his birthplace, now converted into a museum. The structure dates back to the end of the eighteenth century, and suffered serious damage during the Second World War due to the explosion of a nearby ammunition depot. The ground floor of the house-museum periodically hosts temporary exhibitions dedicated to Pirandello, while the first editions of his works, photographs, manuscripts and the author’s personal objects are exhibited on the upper floor. But now let’s move from the city itself to explore a natural monument known throughout the world: the Scala dei Turchi. Located about 13 km from Agrigento, in Realmonte, the Scala dei Turchi is one of the most photographed places in all of Sicily, thanks to its incredible conformation with soft lines and its pure white color. It is a huge white marl cliff that slopes down like a large staircase towards the blue sea, shining under the sun thanks to its white color. It is composed of clay and limestone sedimentary rock, and among the steps of this staircase you can sit down to sunbathe and take incredible photos. Its name derives from the raids of the Saracen pirates (apostrophes as “Turks”) who, having landed on these shores, took advantage of the ladder conformation to climb up to the center and plunder. In recent years, the Scala has become a tourist attraction also due to its popularity following

A TAVOLA UN APPUNTAMENTO INDIMENTICABILE

La cucina della zona di Agrigento è il risultato delle numerose influenze delle diverse dominazioni straniere che hanno avuto un peso differente nelle varie zone dell’isola. Sia costiera che montana, come il suo territorio, la cucina di Agrigento condivide infatti alcuni piatti dei dintorni di Enna e Caltanissetta che si trovano nell’entroterra siciliano e piatti a base di pesce delle altre zone costiere dell’isola. Un piatto tipico di origine contadina è Il maccu di fave. Si tratta di una minestra di fave che durante la cottura vengono schiacciate fino a farle diventare una golosa crema. Da provare poi i cavatelli al cartoccio che ricordano la famosa pasta alla Norma e vengono preparati con melanzane, pomodoro, basilico, ricotta salata e caciocavallo e messi al forno all’interno di un foglio di alluminio. Tra le cose da mangiare ad Agrigento e dintorni non possiamo non citare i dolci, molti dei quali a base di pasta di mandorle e pistacchi. Uno di questi è il cciarduni, dolce tipico farcito con crema di ricotta e ricoperto di mandorle tritate, e il couscous dolce, inventato dalle monache cistercensi del convento di Santo Spirito di Agrigento.

Tutt’oggi lo preparano in grandi pentole di terracotta con pistacchi, frutta candita e cioccolato. Dove assaggiare queste e altre specialità della tradizione? Una sosta è consigliata da Kalos, piccolo ristorante in piazzetta San Calogero nel cuore di Agrigento. Carciofi ripieni, tortino di patate e baccalà o spaghetti con gambero rosso e pistacchi vi trasmetteranno il cuore della Sicilia. Con un panorama mozzafiato sulla Valle dei Templi, c’è poi Nuovo Rustichello, dove potrete gustare ottimi primi piatti e un menù di pesce freschissimo con un ottimo rapporto qualità/prezzo. D’obbligo, poi, una sosta all’Aguglia Persa, famosissimo ristorante che propone una cucina tradizionale in un ambiente accogliente con un piccolo giardino interno ricco di profumi della Sicilia.

The cuisine of the Agrigento area is the result of the numerous influences of the various foreign dominations which have had a different weight in the various areas of the island. Both coastal and mountainous, like its territory, the cuisine of Agrigento in fact shares some dishes from the surroundings of Enna and Caltanissetta which are found in the Sicilian hinterland and fish-based dishes from the other coastal areas of the island. A typical dish of peasant origin is the maccu di fave. It is a soup of broad beans which are crushed during cooking until they become a delicious cream. Then try the cavatelli al cartoccio which recall the famous pasta alla Norma and are prepared with aubergines, tomatoes, basil, salted ricotta and caciocavallo and baked in the oven inside an aluminum sheet. Among the things to eat in Agrigento and its surroundings we cannot fail to mention the desserts, many of which are based on almond paste and pistachios. One of these is the cciarduni, a typical dessert filled with ricotta cream and covered with ground almonds, and the sweet couscous, invented by the Cistercian nuns of the convent of Santo Spirito in Agrigento. Even today they prepare it in large terracotta pots with pistachios, candied fruit and chocolate. Where to taste these and other traditional specialties? A stop is recommended by Kalos, a small restaurant in Piazzetta San Calogero in the heart of Agrigento. lovers of the sea, nature and birdwatching is the Torre Salsa Oriented Nature Reserve, which is located between Siculiana Marina and Eraclea Minoa. The Torre Salsa, an ancient watchtower, is located in the heart of this oasis and dominates the top of a small clay promontory. «Cinecittà e il MoMA di New York mi hanno dedicato uno splendido omaggio: sentire che sono ancora nei pensieri degli spettatori di tutto il mondo, mi emoziona e mi dona gioia e energia. Non c’è un film preferito, tra i tantissimi che ho girato, sarebbe come scegliere tra i propri figli, ma di certo La Ragazza di Bube rappresenta in maniera evidente quel lato “indomabile” del mio carattere a cui ho sempre voluto dare ascolto e che mi ha permesso di vivere emozioni grandissime».

Non nasconde l’emozione Claudia Cardinale, la diva nata a Tunisi nel 1938 di origini siciliane, protagonista di una retrospettiva che si terrà dal 3 al 21 febbraio al MoMA di New York in collaborazione con il Film Department. Al centro anche di un libro, “Claudia Cardinale L’Indomabile” (edito da Cinecittà ed Electa), curato da Claudia Squitieri, figlia dell’attrice e del regista Pasquale Squitieri. La retrospettiva è composta di 20 titoli, e tra restauri realizzati da Cinecittà per l’occasione: “La ragazza di Bube”, il film di Luigi Comencini, prodotto da Franco Cristaldi nel 1963 con una Cardinale dalla voce graffiante, in un ruolo che le valse il suo primo importante riconoscimento, il Nastro d’Argento come Migliore Attrice, “L’Udienza” di Marco Ferreri e “Atto di dolore” di Pasquale Squitieri. E poi ci sono “Il gattopardo”, “C’era una volta il West”, “La ragazza con la valigia”, “Rocco e i suoi fratelli”, “8 e ½” e “Il giorno della civetta”. Sguardo fiero su un viso magnetico, Claudia Cardinale ha incarnato una sensualità selvaggia, come le donne che ha fatto vivere al cinema per grandi e visionari registi come Fellini, Visconti, Leone, Damiani, Monicelli, Comencini, Zurlini, Bolognini e Ferreri. E ancora Blake Edwards e Manoel de Oliveira.

Un volume, che racconta la donna e il personaggio attraverso memorabili scatti in bianco e nero, impreziosito da testimonianze, testi e ricordi: da Giorgio Armani che l’ha vestita definendo il suo stile libero, a Caterina d’Amico passando per René de Ceccatty e Jean A. Gili. «Per me è stato un lavoro a tantissimi livelli - spiega Claudia Squitieri che ha accompagnato e indirizzato la narrazione dai molti risvolti - c’è una parte intima ma c’è anche una parte da spettatrice». Il tema dell’indomabilità, una caratteristica che raccontava la sua vita intera quanto la sua carriera, «questa versatilità mi ha aiutato a capire meglio mia madre - continua -. L’indomabilità è stata una forma di intuito, un fil rouge che può essere rintracciato nel corso di tutta la sua vita, a volte è filo sottile – cucito nei rivestimenti interni dei suoi abiti su misura – altre volte è dirompente come la risata di Angelica in “Il gattopardo”.

Lo si può ritrovare nelle scelte della sua vita come nei suoi personaggi, quasi un gioco di rimbalzo. Infatti, pur non mescolandosi del tutto, Claudia attrice e Claudia donna si anticipano, si rincorrono, si sovrappongono e si sorreggono a vicenda. A seconda delle possibilità di espressione». Nelle pagine, che immortalano oltre sessant’anni di straordinaria carriera, anche l’apporto fondamentale del produttore Franco Cristaldi che l’ha creata. «Ci tenevo in questo libro a fargli

onore e a non approdarlo dal punto di vista della figlia di Squinteri», ma omaggia anche il lavoro di Pasquale Squinteri inserendo aspetti intimi e privati. «Papà nelle ultime ora di vita, in un momento di piccole forze - ricorda - mi ha consegnato un messaggio per mia madre: “Dì a Claudia che noi veniamo dal Sud”. Per lui il Sud era questa scioltezza, quel senso di libertà che hanno le persone cresciute per la strada. Mamma ha attraversato la vita sempre sul vento caldo con grande adattabilità. Papà mi voleva dire: “Noi abbiamo questa cosa in comune: le stesse radici. Una dignità che appartiene ai popoli calpestati”.

Era una visione che condividevano. Si sono influenzati a vicenda ma erano come l’acqua e l’olio. Il modo in cui

sono ispirati è stato molto sottile.» Si porta sempre dietro un clima caldo l’iconica Angelica, come quando in una storica foto danza sorridente e scalza sui tetti di Roma, nel 1959. «Oggi mamma è ancora indomabile, quella parte non si è mai spenta - sottolinea -. E’ legata a tutto, ai racconti di quando era in Tunisia, con mia nonna Jolanda e nonno Francesco: lì accadde la coincidenza temporale per cui il cinema ‘chiamò’ mamma nel momento in cui ci fu la liberazione e quindi bisognava andarsene, ma noi portiamo sempre nel cuore quella terra, in cui lei era già una donna abbastanza libera e indipendente. Nonna faceva il couscous, piantava i fichi d’India. Continuava le tradizioni.» Il prossimo progetto dell’attrice, condiviso con i figli Claudia e Patrick, è la Fondazione Claudia Cardinale che vuole dedicarsi agli artisti provenienti da tutto il mondo: «Mamma ha sempre difeso i diritti degli omosessuali, è contro

la pena di morte, ha prestato la sua immagine di attrice per sensibilizzare anche i diritti delle donne e delle bambine. Più tardi è subentrata anche l’attenzione all’ecologia. Così è nata spontanea questa Associazione, diretta a continuare le sue battaglie: un modo, attraverso l’arte, per continuare a contribuire a grandi tematiche». Oggi che vive in campagna fuori Parigi, e compirà 85 anni il prossimo 15 aprile, Claudia Cardinale resta ancora una ragazza libera, che ha consegnato la sua personalità e il suo destino solo a se stessa. E ha attraversato la settima arte con una grinta fuori dal comune.

«Cinecittà and the MoMA in New York have dedicated a splendid tribute to me: knowing that I am still in the thoughts of spectators from all over the world moves me and gives me joy and energy. In the pages, which immortalize her over sixty years of an extraordinary career, there is also the fundamental contribution of the producer Franco Cristaldi who created it. «I wanted to honor him in this book and not approach it from the point of view of Squinteri’s daughter», but it also pays homage to Pasquale Squinteri’s work by inserting intimate and private aspects. «Dad in the last hours of his life, in a moment of little strength - he remembersgave me a message for my mother: “Tell Claudia that we come from the South”. For him, the South was this ease, that sense of freedom that people who grew up on the street have. Mom has always gone through life on a warm wind with great adaptability. Dad wanted to tell me: “We have this thing in common: the same roots. A dignity that belongs to downtrodden peoples”.

It was a vision they shared. They influenced each other but were like oil and water. The way they were inspired was very subtle.” The iconic Angelica always carried with her a warm climate, as when in a historic photo she dances smiling barefoot on the roofs of Rome, in 1959. «Today, mum is still

indomitable, that part has never faded away - she underlines -. It is linked to everything, to the stories of when she was in Tunisia, with my grandmother Jolanda and grandfather Francesco: there was the coincidence in time that the cinema ‘called’ mother at the moment in which there was liberation and therefore we had to leave, but we we always carry that land in our hearts, in which she was already a fairly free and independent woman. Grandma made couscous, she planted prickly pears. She continued the traditions.” The next project by the actress, shared with her children Claudia and Patrick, is the Claudia Cardinale Foundation which devotes itself to artists from all over the world: «Mamma has always defended the rights of homosexuals, she is against the death penalty, she has lent her image as an actress to raise awareness of the rights of women and girls as well. Later she also took over the focus on ecology. That is how this Association was born spontaneously, aimed at continuing its battles: a way, through art, to continue to contribute to major issues”. Now that she lives in the countryside outside Paris, and she will be 85 on April 15th, Claudia Cardinale is still a free girl, who has handed over her personality and her destiny only to herself. And she crossed the seventh art with an uncommon grit.

«Portare in scena il Quartetto Cetra è un atto di amore profondo nei loro confronti. Mi hanno insegnato a giocare con la musica, con grande divertimento e rispetto», esordisce Stefano Fresi. Interprete di ruoli drammatici, comici e doppiatore, tra l’altro di Pumbaa nel live action de “Il re leone”, ma in pochi sanno che in realtà nasce come musicista, compositore e cantante. Classe 1974, l’artista romano, celebra la leggendaria formazione musicale della tv italiana - in tournée per i teatri fino ad aprile - con lo spettacolo «Cetra… Una volta reloaded», diretto da Augusto Fornari. Protagonista, insieme alla sorella Emanuela e a Toni Fornari, di un viaggio musicale tra swing e rock and roll. Sul palco il Trio vocale canta le canzoni, imita, recita e ripropone parodie memorabili, scatenandosi in un grande varietà di luci: da Baciami Piccina a Che Centrattacco, dai Ricordi della Sera all’immancabile Nella Vecchia Fattoria.

Proponete uno show di successo, già collaudato negli anni in una versione ampliata e rivista. Quali sono le novità?

«Il live è totalmente rinnovato e rimodernato. Ci sono nuovi arrangiamenti, costumi e smoking bellissimi. Saremo accompagnati anche dal sassofono di mia moglie Cristiana Polegri. In scaletta i brani che abbiamo

fatto alla “maniera di”, ricalcando lo stile comicoparodistico dei Cetra con le loro memorabili parodie. Faremo anche l’Otello di Shakespeare con canzoni moderne. Ci divertiremo molto, sorretti dal loro spirito esplosivo».

Qual è l’eredità che il quartetto ha lasciato?

«Hanno rotto gli schemi per primi. Sapevano osare. Sono stati il punto d’incontro perfetto tra spettacolo, teatro e musica. E rappresentato un modello di amore e dedizione totale verso l’arte. Erano strumentisti di talento con un’approfondita conoscenza musicale che non si prendevano troppo sul serio. Avevano uno spirito burlone, appassionati di note e swing si divertivano a fare il verso alle canzoni».

Favete Linguis, è il nome del trio comico-musicale composto con Toni Fornari e sua sorella, Emanuela Fresi, fin dall’inizio della vostra carriera, vi siete ispirati al Quartetto Cetra. Come vi siete formati?

«Nasco come musicista, poi ho iniziato a recitare. A 16 anni ci siamo trasferiti a Marcellina, un paesino vicino Tivoli, che ha un coro polifonico meraviglioso con un repertorio sacro del 500 e canzoni popolari. Con mia sorella Emanuela ci iscriviamo per conoscere qualcuno

e incontriamo Toni Fornari. Nasce così il Trio, e la passione per la melodia a più voci ci ha fatto scoprire, ormai 30 anni fa, i Cetra. Un vero colpo al cuore. Sin dai 17 anni ci siamo esibiti in locali e matrimoni».

Ha realizzato musiche anche per gli spettacoli di Gigi Proietti, quale ricordo conserva?

«Il mio primo lavoro come musicista di scena è stato con Proietti. Ho composto io le musiche di Romeo e Giulietta quando ha inaugurato il Globe Theatre. Gigi non dava mai lezioni. Bastava, semplicemente, osservarlo all’opera. Vederlo dirigere, muoversi sul palco, prendere decisioni e lavorare con gli attori era un’accademia di vita. Ho scritto musiche per una novantina di spettacoli, per tantissimi jingle e sigle per la Rai e per uno spot per Giuseppe Tornatore.»

Quanto è importante la musica nella sua vita?

«Ho iniziato a suonare il pianoforte a 5 anni. La musica è il sottofondo costante della mia vita, dalla mattina alla sera. Non ne potrei fare a meno, accompagna ogni momento bello o brutto. E’ pura emozione».

Si è fatto conoscere come attore grazie al ruolo di Secco in “Romanzo criminale”. Il grande successo arriva nella parte del chimico in “Smetto quando voglio” di Sydney Sibilia, che le valse la candidatura al David di Donatello come miglior attore non protagonista. Qual è ora il valore della risata attraverso la commedia?

«La commedia parla della vita, è drammaticamente reale. Deve farti sorridere sui mali del tuo tempo. Sui difetti, non sui pregi. Si può ridere di qualunque cosa, se fatto con gusto.».

Oggi si sente più vicino alla musica o alla recitazione?

«Sono multitasking, faccio più cose e fortunatamente mi piacciono tutte. Sono fortunato a fare quella che è la mia passione. E vivere di questa. E’ un privilegio che

mi mette in uno stato di grandissima serenità. Anche se per l’ultimo film ho già perso 30 chili. Mi muovo con il personal trainer e mangio come Gandhi da sei mesi (ride!)».

E’ in sala nel film corale I migliori giorni di Edoardo Leo e Massimiliano Bruno, ed è tornato in tv nei nuovi episodi dei Delitti del BarLume, e dopo?

«Ho appena partecipato al disco di mia moglie sul compositore Henry Mancini, autore di brani come “Moon River” e il tema della Pantera Rosa. A teatro racconterò la sua storia, tra vita, aneddoti e curiosità dei suoi brani, insieme a un ensemble di dieci musicisti, e Cristiana al sassofono».

Innamoratissimo di sua moglie con la quale divide casa e palco, ne parla come Romeo . E’ consapevole di essere uno degli uomini più apprezzati dalle donne?

«Ma ho detto “sì, lo voglio” a una e mi sono fregato per sempre!».

«Bringing the Quartetto Cetra on stage is an act of profound love. They taught me to play music with great fun and respect», begins Stefano Fresi. Interpreter of dramatic, comic and voice actor roles, among them Pumbaa in the live action version of “The Lion King”, but few know that he was actually born as a musician, composer and singer. Born in 1974, the Roman artist celebrates the legendary musical formation of Italian TV - on tour in theaters until April - with the show “Cetra... Una Volta Reloaded”, directed by Augusto Fornari. Protagonist, together with his sister Emanuela and Toni Fornari, of a musical journey between swing and rock and roll. On stage the vocal trio sings the songs, imitates, recites and re-proposes memorable parodies, unleashing themselves in a great variety of lights: from Baciami Piccina to Che Centrattacco, from Ricordi della Sera to the unmissable Nella Vecchia Fattoria.

A successful show already proven over the years but now in an expanded and revised version. What’s new?

«The live is totally renewed and modernized. There are new, beautiful arrangements, costumes and tuxedos. We are also accompanied by the saxophone played by my wife Cristiana Polegri. We made the lineup of songs in the “manner of”, tracing the comic-parody style of Cetra with memorable parodies. We also do Shakespeare’s Othello with modern songs. We have a lot of fun, supported by explosive spirit ».

What legacy has the quartet left?

“They broke the mold first. They knew how to dare. They were the perfect meeting point between entertainment, theater and music. They represented a model of love and total dedication to art. They were talented instrumentalists with an in-depth musical knowledge who didn’t take themselves too seriously. They had a playful spirit, were fans of notes and swing and enjoyed making the verse to the songs.

From the beginning of your career, you have been inspired by the Quartetto Cetra. How did you form Favete Linguis, the comic-musical trio composed with Toni Fornari and your sister, Emanuela Fresi?

«I was born as a musician, then I started acting. At the age of 16 we moved to Marcellina, a small village near Tivoli, which had a wonderful polyphonic choir with a sacred repertoire from the 1500s and popular songs. My sister Emanuela and I signed up to meet people and we

met Toni Fornari. That is how the Trio was born, and the passion for multi-voiced melody allowed us to discover the Cetra of 30 years ago. It really captured our hearts. We started performing in clubs and weddings at the age of 17 ».

Yuo also created music for Gigi Proietti’s shows. What memories do you have?

«My first job as a stage musician was with Proietti. I composed the music for Romeo and Juliet when he opened the Globe Theater. Gigi never gave lessons. It was simply enough to observe him at work. Watching him direct, move around the stage, make decisions and work with the actors was an academy in itself. I wrote music for about ninety shows, for many jingles and theme songs for Rai and for a commercial for Giuseppe Tornatore.»

How important is music in your life?

«I started playing the piano when I was 5 years old. Music is the constant throughline in my life, from morning to night. I couldn’t live without it. It accompanies every good and bad moment. It’s pure emotion.”

You made yourself known as an actor thanks to the role of Secco in “Romanzo criminale”. Your great success came in the role of the chemist in “Smetto quando voglio” by Sydney Sibilia, which earned you a David di Donatello award nomination for best supporting actor. What is the value of laughter in comedy now?

«Comedy speaks of life. It is dramatically real. It must make you smile about the ills of your time. About flaws, not merits. You can laugh at anything, if done with gusto.».

Do you feel closer to music or acting today?

«I’m multitasking. I do multiple things and fortunately I like them all. I am lucky to do my passion. And live by it. It is a privilege that puts me in a state of great serenity. Although for the last film I lost 30 kilos. I trained with a personal trainer and I ate like Gandhi for six months (laughs!)».

you’re back on TV in the new episodes of Delitti del BarLume. What’s next?

«I just finished working on my wife’s record dedicated to the composer Henry Mancini, author of songs like “Moon River” and the theme of the Pink Panther. At the theater I tell his story between life, anecdotes and curiosities of his pieces together with an ensemble of ten musicians, and with Cristiana on the saxophone».

In love with your wife with whom you shares your home and stage, you sound like Romeo. Are you aware that you are one of men most appreciated by women? “But, I said ‘yes, I do’ to the one and now I am screwed forever!”

L’impegno del Gruppo Aeroporti di Roma per la sostenibilità, soprattutto nell’ambito dell’Agenda 2030 e degli obiettivi di sviluppo sostenibile dell’ONU (i famosi SDG) è ormai ben noto, ed è stato portato avanti, nel corso degli ultimi anni, attraverso diverse priorità strategiche, tra cui la lotta al cambiamento climatico attraverso un programma che permetta ai passeggeri di compensare le emissioni di CO2 relative al proprio viaggio, lo sviluppo dell’economia circolare e di conseguenza il recupero e la diminuzione dei rifiuti. Nell’ambito dell’impegno alla sostenibilità, nel corso del 2022 si sono effettuate diverse iniziative importanti, che continueranno a essere perseguite anche nel nuovo anno. Eccone alcune di particolare importanza.

LA NUOVA AREA D’IMBARCO A: ECCELLENZA ITALIANA

A maggio dello scorso anno è stata inaugurata la nuova area d’imbarco A dell’Aeroporto Leonardo da Vinci, destinata ai voli Schengen e domestici. I suoi 37.000 metri quadrati sono una vera e propria testimonianza dell’eccellenza italiana dal punto di vista ingegneristico e architettonico, e l’infrastruttura è completamente “green”. È stata completata impiegando con massima efficienza il sedime aeroportuale (quindi senza consumo di suolo aggiuntivo) e realizzata facendo ricorso alle migliori competenze del Paese. Si tratta di un’infrastruttura all’avanguardia per soluzioni innovative e di tutela ambientale che potrà ospitare presso lo scalo di Fiumicino ulteriori 6 milioni di passeggeri, grazie ai 23 nuovi gate, di cui 13 dotati di pontili per l’imbarco. anni difficili della pandemia, si inquadra in un percorso di sviluppo aeroportuale orientato alla sostenibilità e all’innovazione, per garantire la transizione energetica dell’aeroporto, attivando al tempo stesso il suo upgrade tecnologico.

L’opera si compone del molo innovativo che consente l’attracco dei più moderni aerei disponibili, e di una esclusiva galleria commerciale di oltre 6.000 metri quadri: due grandi strutture tra loro connesse mediante un corpo di collegamento lungo il quale sono esposti 7 capolavori originali provenienti dal Parco archeologico di Ostia antica per promuovere la classicità romana e la conoscenza del valore storico-artistico del territorio dove opera l’aeroporto di Fiumicino. Questa nuova area di imbarco fa parte di un più ampio programma di investimenti per sostenere la connettività internazionale italiana e continuare ad alimentare l’indotto socio-economico, garantendo la necessaria transizione ecologica.

GLI ACCORDI PER LA MOBILITÀ AEREA AVANZATA

Di recente è stato siglato un protocollo di intesa tra Enel X Way, società di Enel dedicata alla mobilità, e UrbanV, società specializzata nella Advanced Air Mobility, per sviluppare sinergie atte a realizzare infrastrutture elettriche integrate nei vertiporti, cioè gli hub dedicati agli eVTOL (i velivoli elettrici a decollo e atterraggio verticale), a partire da Roma Fiumicino. L’accordo consentirà in un prossimo futuro la realizzazione di un trasporto pubblico veloce, completamente green e su grande scala, con soluzioni integrate di ricarica innovative e sostenibili. Dopo una prima fase di test (inaugurata di recente proprio a Fiumicino, con il primo volo di un eVTOL con pilota), il servizio sarà operativo già dal 2024, consentendo ai passeggeri di salire su questi “taxi volanti” effettuando voli rapidi ed ecologici in contesti urbani, e sfruttando così un’alternativa economica e sostenibile al trasporto su gomma.

LA SECONDA “CALL FOR IDEAS” DEDICATA ALL’INNOVAZIONE

Dopo il successo della prima edizione di “Call for Ideas” e l’inaugurazione dell’Innovation Hub, Aeroporti di Roma ha lanciato la seconda edizione del progetto, per selezionare 8 nuove startup provenienti da tutto il mondo, che avranno la possibilità di sviluppare i loro progetti direttamente nell’Innovation Hub, il primo acceleratore industriale nel cuore di uno scalo aeroportuale, con caratteristiche uniche in Europa e un taglio internazionale, dove le startup possono lavorare a contatto con esperti aeroportuali e passeggeri. Il sostegno economico sarà fino a 105mila euro, e in più le startup con esito positivo dei progetti potranno contare su potenziali opportunità commerciali fino a 2 milioni di euro. Le proposte di idee e progetti per ridefinire l’utilizzo dell’infrastruttura aeroportuale da parte dei passeggeri, con un percorso sempre più orientato all’Open Innovation, potranno essere presentate fino al 16 febbraio, e tra gli ambiti di lavoro indicati risultano in particolare le soluzioni che puntano a ridurre l’impatto ambientale e i consumi energetici, quelle che creino valore per il territorio, le comunità locali e l’ambiente, e quelle che consentano maggiore efficienza ed efficacia dei processi.

NASCE QPASS, IL NUOVO SERVIZIO AI CONTROLLI DI SICUREZZA

Alla fine dell’anno, è stato inaugurato sullo scalo di Fiumicino il nuovo servizio gratuito QPass, che consente ai passeggeri di prenotare un

appuntamento ai varchi di sicurezza per usufruire di un ingresso e di un percorso dedicati. Accedere al servizio è semplicissimo e non richiede nessuna registrazione: il passeggero può effettuare la prenotazione comodamente da casa oppure in aeroporto, a partire da 7 giorni prima del volo, attraverso il sito web www.adr.it/ qpass, alla pagina di prenotazione, dove inserire il volo, il numero di persone in partenza e l’indirizzo e-mail. Il passeggero potrà scegliere tra gli orari di appuntamento disponibili per il suo volo prenotando quello che meglio si addice alle sue esigenze. Completata la prenotazione, riceverà un QR Code e una e-mail di conferma recante le informazioni relative al terminal e all’orario dell’appuntamento. Sarà sufficiente presentarsi all’ora di prenotazione presso l’ingresso QPass del varco di sicurezza, mostrare il QR Code per accedere all’ingresso e alla fila dedicati per effettuare i controlli di sicurezza in modo facile e veloce. L’Aeroporto Leonardo da Vinci di Roma Fiumicino è il primo scalo in Italia a offrire questo servizio, in funzione sia al Terminal 1 che al Terminal 3.

THE NEW EMBARKATION AREA A: ITALIAN EXCELLENCE

In May of last year, the new boarding area A of Leonardo da Vinci Airport was inaugurated, intended for Schengen and domestic flights. Its 37,000 square meters are a true testimony of Italian excellence from an engineering and architectural point of view, to the completely “green” infrastructure. It was completed using maximum efficiency of the airport grounds (without additional land consumption) and built using the best skills in the country. This is a cutting-edge infrastructure of innovative solutions and environmental protection that will be able to accommodate 6 million passengers at Fiumicino airport, thanks to the 23 new gates, 13 of which equipped with boarding piers. The infrastructure, built despite the difficult years of the pandemic, is part of an airport development path oriented towards sustainability and innovation, in order to guarantee the airport’s energy transition, while at the same time activating its technological upgrade.

The work consists of an innovative pier which allows the docking of the most modern aircrafts available, and an exclusive shopping gallery of over 6,000 square metres: two large structures connected to each other via a connecting body along which 7 original masterpieces are exhibited from the Ostia Antica Archaeological Park to promote Roman classicism and knowledge of the historical-artistic value of the area where Fiumicino airport operates. This new boarding area is part of a larger investment program to support Italian international connectivity and continue to feed the socio-economic related industries, guaranteeing a necessary ecological transition.

THE AGREEMENTS FOR ADVANCED AIR MOBILITY

A memorandum of understanding was recently signed between Enel X Way, an Enel company dedicated to mobility, and UrbanV, a company specializing in Advanced Air Mobility, to develop synergies aimed at creating integrated electricity infrastructures in vertiports, i.e. the hubs dedicated to eVTOLs (electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft), starting from Rome Fiumicino. In the near future, the agreement will allow for the creation of fast, completely green and large-scale public transport, with integrated innovative and sustainable charging solutions. After an initial test phase (recently inaugurated at Fiumicino, with the first flight of an eVTOL with a pilot), the service will be operational as early as 2024, allowing passengers to board these “flying taxis” by making rapid and ecological flights in urban contexts, and thus exploiting an economic and sustainable alternative to road transport.

THE SECOND “CALL FOR IDEAS” DEDICATED TO INNOVATION

QPASS, THE NEW SERVICE FOR SECURITY CHECKS, IS BORN

At the end of the year, the new free QPass service was inaugurated at Fiumicino airport, which allows passengers to book an appointment at the security checkpoints to take advantage of a dedicated entrance and route. Accessing the service is very

simple and does not require any registration: the passenger can make the reservation from the comfort of home or at the airport, starting 7 days before the flight, through the website www.adr. it/qpass, on the booking page, where you can enter the flight, the number of people departing and the e-mail address. The passenger can choose from the appointment times available for his flight by booking the one that best suits his needs. Once the booking is complete, you receive a QR Code and a confirmation e-mail containing information relating to the terminal and the appointment time. Next, you simply show up at the booking time at the QPass entrance of the security gate, show the QR Code to access the dedicated entrance and queue to carry out the security checks quickly and easily. Rome Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci Airport is the first airport in Italy to offer this service, operating at both Terminal 1 and Terminal 3.

Frappe e soprattutto castagnole, che rimandano all’antica Roma: ecco dove assaggiare i migliori dolci carnevaleschi nella Capitale

The Frappe and most of all the castagnole are the best carnival sweets, notably from ancient Roman times. Here is where you can taste them around the capital.

Se le frappe, che prendono in effetti molti altri nomi a seconda della regione in cui ci si sposta, sono un dolce tradizionale del periodo carnevalesco in tutto il Bel Paese, le castagnole possono vantarsi di aver avuto origine addirittura nell’antica Roma. Infatti, le tipiche palline fritte venivano servite e offerte in occasione delle feste dedicate al dio Bacco. Oggi possono essere servite sia “vuote”, quindi semplicemente fritte, che con vari ripieni, per esempio crema pasticciera o chantilly, cioccolato oppure ricotta. Dalle castagnole romane derivano sia gli struffoli napoletani, sia le zeppole di San Giuseppe, sia anche le “fritole” rinascimentali, arricchite di uva passa, pinoli e canditi, che oggi vengono servite tipicamente nel Carnevale di Venezia. Per festeggiare degnamente il Carnevale a Roma (ricordiamo che quest’anno andrà dal 5 al 21 di febbraio), abbiamo selezionato per voi alcuni dei locali della Capitale dove assaggiare le migliori frappe e castagnole.

ROSCIOLI

Famoso forno in Via dei Chiavari, a pochi passi da Campo de’ Fiori (vi consigliamo di provare anche il suo delizioso pane fresco), vi stupirà per la frittura leggerissima con cui presenta sia le frappe che le castagnole, che hanno anche un impasto perfetto, assolutamente secondo la tradizione. I dolci vengono sfornati fin dal mattino presto, e vale assolutamente la pena farci un salto per goderseli appena fatti. In particolare, le castagnole semplici possono essere aromatizzate all’alchermes o al limone, mentre tra quelle farcite troviamo, oltre alla classica crema pasticciera, anche ricotta e cioccolato.

GRUÈ

In Viale Regina Margherita, non lontano dal centro e dal bellissimo quartiere Coppedè, potete trovare la pasticceria Gruè, dove Marta Boccanera e Felice Venanzi fanno della qualità il loro punto fermo da sempre. Per quanto riguarda i dolci di Carnevale, la frittura è fatta davvero a regola d’arte, e le frappe sono sempre sottili e croccanti. Si trovano in due versioni differenti, con zucchero a velo oppure con una decorazione di cioccolato fondente. Quanto alle castagnole, qui troverete un’ampia varietà di ripieni, che soddisferanno anche i più golosi: si va dalla classica crema pasticciera a quella chantilly, ma non mancano varianti sorprendenti, come la crema al cioccolato fondente, quella al pistacchio di Bronte, oppure quella al tiramisù. Se volete cambiare rispetto alla tradizione, nel periodo carnevalesco qui troverete anche delle deliziose ciambelline fritte, senza ripieno o farcite con crema pasticciera.

CINQUE LUNE

Andiamo davanti al Senato, a Corso Rinascimento, per assaggiare i dolci della tradizione carnevalesca in un posto che di tradizione se ne intende: la pasticceria Cinque Lune è a Roma dal 1902, e si è occupata del rinfresco servito alla firma dei Patti Lateranensi nel 1929. Frappe e castagnole, qui, sono delle vere e proprie opere d’arte: leggerissime eppure gustose, in entrambi i casi saranno una delizia per il palato, assolutamente da non perdere.

CASTAGNOLE, FACCIAMOLE IN CASA

Con questa ricetta, potrete preparare in casa la versione originale delle castagnole romane, ottenendone circa 40. Cominciate facendo ammorbidire 60 g di burro in una ciotola, a cui unirete 80 g di zucchero e 3 uova, amalgamando bene. Unite al composto la scorza grattugiata di un limone biologico, un pizzico di sale e circa 370 g di farina, comunque quanto basta per ottenere un impasto morbido e liscio. Unite un cucchiaino di lievito vanigliato. Formate delle palline con l’impasto e friggetele in olio bollente, fino a doratura. Scolatele, lasciatele raffreddare e spolveratele con zucchero a velo.

CASTAGNOLE, LET’S MAKE THEM AT HOME

With this recipe, you can prepare the original version of the Roman castagnole at home, yielding around 40. Start by softening 60 g of butter in a bowl, then add 80 g of sugar and 3 eggs, mixing well. Add the grated rind of an organic lemon to the mixture, a pinch of salt and about 370 g of flour, just enough to obtain a soft and smooth dough. Add a teaspoon of vanilla yeast. Form balls with the dough and fry them in hot oil until golden brown. Drain them, let them cool and dust them with icing sugar.

LA DELIZIOSA

Questa piccola ma celeberrima pasticceria, che si trova in Vicolo Savelli, alle spalle di Piazza Navona, ha costruito la sua fama grazie a una delle sue torte, con ricotta e pinoli, considerata una delle più buone di Roma, ma tutte le golosità che propone sono sempre di altissima qualità, in più a prezzi sorprendentemente modici. Nel periodo del Carnevale, ottime sono le frappe tradizionali, ma ancora di più vale la pena di assaggiare le loro castagnole, in particolare quelle al rhum e quelle al cioccolato, di rara bontà.

If frappe, known by various names depending on the region, is considered to be the most traditional sweet during the carnival period throughout this beautiful country, then castagnole gets to boast its origin from ancient Rome. Famous bakery in Via dei Chiavari, a few steps from Campo de’ Fiori (we also recommend trying its delicious fresh bread), will amaze you with its very light frying method for both the frappe and castagnole featuring perfect dough and absolutely according to tradition. The desserts are baked early in the morning, and it’s worth popping in to enjoy them freshly made. In particular, the simple castagnole is flavored with alchermes or lemon, while stuffed ones offer classic custard as well as ricotta and chocolate.

In Viale Regina Margherita, not far from the center and the beautiful Coppedè district, you can find the Gruè pastry shop, where Marta Boccanera and Felice Venanzi have always made quality their cornerstone. As for the Carnival desserts, the frying is done to perfection, and the frappe are always thin and crunchy. They are found in two different versions, one with icing sugar or the other with a dark chocolate decoration. LA DELIZIOSA

This small but very famous pastry shop, located in Vicolo Savelli behind Piazza Navona, built its fame thanks to one of its cakes with ricotta and pine nuts, considered to be one of the best in Rome. In Italy, Venice is not the only Carnival! Did you know that even in Lazio there are important traditions for this ancient festival? Here are some of the celebrations not to be missed.

A Roma e nel Lazio, il periodo del Carnevale è sempre particolarmente sentito e ricco di eventi, con sfilate in maschera e tradizionali carri allegorici, tipici di un po’ tutte le manifestazioni carnevalesche della Penisola, ma con qualche tradizione particolare in più, che rimanda ai simboli antichissimi di riti pagani risalenti all’antica Roma. Ad esempio, in diverse cittadine c’è il classico rituale in cui si brucia il “Re Carnevale”, in tante e suggestive varianti, e i festeggiamenti del Carnevale si fanno risalire agli antichi Saturnali, le feste in onore del dio Saturno, che avvenivano proprio in questo periodo dell’anno, per festeggiare la fine del vecchio anno e salutare con gioia l’inizio di quello nuovo. Erano festeggiamenti in cui il popolo si abbandonava a eccessi di ogni genere, ma non mancavano anche riti religiosi e sacrifici. Il Carnevale romano come lo conosciamo oggi, celebrato a Trastevere e nel centro storico con maschere famose come il tipico Meo Patacca e la sua innamorata Nina, o l’altrettanto noto Rugantino, ha avuto origine in tempi medievali. Andando avanti nella storia, è tra il XVII e il XVIII secolo che troviamo l’origine di alcune delle rappresentazioni più sfarzose e sorprendenti del Carnevale laziale, in diversi comuni della regione. E ancora oggi, oltre ai festeggiamenti di Roma (date un’occhiata, tra l’altro, ai migliori forni e pasticcerie della Capitale che abbiamo selezionato per voi in queste pagine, dove andare ad assaggiare frappe e castagnole a regola d’arte), alcune cittadine del Lazio sono particolarmente piacevoli da visitare nel periodo carnevalesco. Se borghi come Sora, Veroli e Pontecorvo sono ben noti per le loro sfilate di carri allegorici, due in particolare sono i Carnevali da non perdere: quello di Frosinone e quello di Ronciglione.

IL CARNEVALE DI FROSINONE

Se vi trovate a Roma in concomitanza del martedì grasso, potrebbe valere la pena fare un salto a Frosinone (a meno di un’ora dalla Capitale) per partecipare ai tradizionali e simbolici festeggiamenti della cittadina ciociara. Si tratta infatti di una delle manifestazioni più importanti del Carnevale laziale. Particolarmente

suggestiva, questa manifestazione ha origine ben prima dell’età cristiana, ed è collegata alla tradizione contadina della regione, collegata ovviamente ad antichi culti di fecondità della terra, da cui derivarono i famosi Lupercali romani, celebrati a febbraio, mese di purificazione. Resta ancora oggi, di questi riti tradizionali, la Festa della Radeca, che si celebra il martedì grasso, a cui partecipano i quattro rioni storici della città. La “radeca” altro non è che la foglia dell’agave, che è simbolo antichissimo di fertilità. In realtà, la festa, pur essendo legata ai riti pagani propiziatori di fecondità, è anche e soprattutto collegata a un particolare evento storico: la rivolta dei frusinati contro le truppe francesi, tra il 1798 e il 1799. Per questo motivo, a Frosinone il martedì grasso, conclusione del Carnevale, culmina con il rogo del “Re Carnevale”, che qui però è rappresentato da un fantoccio di cartapesta con le fattezze e gli abiti del generale francese Jean Antoine Etienne Vachier, detto Championnet, e che viene condotto a essere bruciato da una tradizionale sfilata. Ad aprirla c’è un carretto con sopra una botte di vino, dietro il quale procedono i “radicari”, e i rappresentanti, vestiti con gli abiti tradizionali, dei rioni storici, ovvero il Giardino, il Centro Storico, la Pescara e la Madonna della Neve. Chiude la sfilata il carro con il fantoccio del generale Championnet. Per i turisti che vengono a vedere la famosa sfilata, ci sono però alcune regole da seguire: innanzitutto, bisogna avere in mano una foglia di agave (la radeca, appunto), o si rischierebbe di incorrere in una punizione, che consiste nel

subire delle “radecate” (colpi di radeca); se siete nuovi alla manifestazione, bisogna farsi toccare dalla radeca sulla schiena, gesto che “battezza” i forestieri; infine, c’è il divieto assoluto di portare cappelli duri in testa, perché ricordano quelli dei soldati francesi.

IL CARNEVALE DI RONCIGLIONE

Altro Carnevale che affonda le sue radici nella tradizione antica, ma che è nato in tutto il suo sfarzo tra Rinascimento e Barocco, è quello di Ronciglione, piccolo e piacevole borgo tra i più suggestivi della Tuscia, in provincia di Viterbo. Anche in questo caso, la tradizione comprende la sfilata di carri allegorici e l’uccisione del Re Carnevale, ma manifestazioni e festeggiamenti prendono un’originalità suggestiva che attira in zona tanti turisti ogni anno.

Il Carnevale ronciglionese si apre con la classica Cavalcata degli Ussari, in cui i cavalieri, vestiti con i costumi d’epoca, attraversano le vie del borgo in sella a destrieri altrettanto bardati. La sfilata si ricollega a un evento dell’epoca napoleonica, in cui Ronciglione era sotto il dominio francese: sembra infatti che al tempo, un capitano degli Ussari si fosse innamorato di una fanciulla locale, e per conquistarla avesse fatto sfilare tutto il suo battaglione per il paese.

Non mancano poi le altrettanto famose “corse a vuoto”, cioè con i cavalli senza fantino: dette anche “corse dei barberi”, ebbero origine nel 1400, ai tempi del Papa

Paolo III. Nove sono le scuderie che si contendono ogni anno il Palio della Manna, e corrispondono alle rispettive contrade del paese.

Famosi a Ronciglione sono anche i cosiddetti “nasi rossi”, maschera caratteristica degli amanti del vino e dei devoti di Bacco, che, con le loro tuniche bianche e i nasi rubizzi, si radunano nella piazza principale del paese il lunedì di Carnevale, per poi sfilare per tutto il paese offrendo maccheroni fumanti ai cittadini dentro a vasi da notte, e arrampicandosi, per farlo, fin sui balconi delle case. Il culmine dei festeggiamenti avviene con il martedì grasso, quando il Re Carnevale entra in città, elegantissimo nel suo frac, e il sindaco gli consegna le chiavi di Ronciglione.

In Rome and Lazio, the Carnival period is always particularly heartfelt and full of events, featuring masked parades and traditional allegorical floats, typical of almost all the Carnival events of the peninsula but with more particular traditions marked with ancient symbols of pagan rites dating back to ancient Rome. For example, in various towns there is the classic ritual in which the “Carnival King” is burned in many suggestive variations. The Carnival celebrations date back to the ancient Saturnalia, the festivals in honor of the god Saturn, which took place at this time of the year to celebrate the end of the old year and joyfully greet the beginning of the new one. They were celebrations in which the people indulged in excesses of all kinds, but there were also religious rites and sacrifices. The Roman Carnival as we know it today is celebrated in Trastevere and in the historic center with famous masks such as the typical Meo Patacca and his lover Nina, or the equally well-known Rugantino, originating in medieval times. Going forward in history, between the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries we find the origin of some of the most sumptuous and surprising representations of the Lazio Carnival in different municipalities of the region. And still today, in addition to the celebrations in Rome (take a look, among other things, at the best bakeries and pastry shops in the capital that we have selected for you in these pages on where to go and taste state-of-the-art frappe and castagnole), some towns in Lazio are particularly pleasant

to visit during the carnival period. Villages such as Sora, Veroli and Pontecorvo are well known for their parades of allegorical floats, and two towns in particular are for the “not to be missed” Carnival celebrations; Frosinone and Ronciglione.

THE FROSINONE CARNIVAL

If you are in Rome on Shrove Tuesday, it might be worth making a trip to Frosinone (less than an hour from the capital) to take part in the traditional and symbolic celebrations of the Ciociaria town. It is in fact one of the most important events of the Lazio Carnival. Particularly suggestive, this event originates well before the Christian age, and is connected to the peasant tradition of the region, obviously connected to ancient cults of fertility of the earth from which the famous Roman Lupercali, celebrated in February, the month of purification, derived. Still today, of these traditional rites, the Festa della Radeca remains, which is celebrated on Shrove Tuesday, where the four historic districts of the city participate. The “radeca” is nothing more than the agave leaf, which is an ancient symbol of fertility. In reality, although the festival is linked to pagan rites propitiating fertility, it is also and above all linked to a particular historical event: the revolt of the Frusinati against the French troops between 1798 and 1799. For this reason, in Frosinone Shrove Tuesday and the conclusion of the Carnival, culminates with the burning of the “Carnival King”, who is represented by a papier-mâché puppet with the features and clothes of the French general Jean Antoine Etienne Vachier, known as Championnet, and who is led to be burned by a traditional parade. To open it there is a cart with a wine barrel on it, behind which the “radicari” proceed, as well as the representatives dressed in traditional clothes of the historic districts, i.e. the Garden, the Historic Centre, Pescara and the Madonna della Snow. The float with the puppet of General Championnet closes the parade.For tourists who come to see the famous parade there are some rules to follow: first of all, you must have an agave leaf (the radeca, in fact) in

your hand, or you would risk incurring a punishment, which consists in suffering “radecate” (blows of radeca); if you are new to the event, you have to let yourself be touched by the radeca on your back, a gesture that “baptises” foreigners; finally, there is an absolute ban on wearing hard hats, because they resemble those of French soldiers.

THE RONCIGLIONE CARNIVAL

Another Carnival that has its roots in ancient tradition, but was born in all its splendor between the Renaissance and Baroque, is that of Ronciglione, a small and pleasant village among the most evocative of Tuscia, in the province of Viterbo. In this case the tradition includes the parade of allegorical floats and the killing of the Carnival King, but events and celebrations take on a suggestive originality that attracts many tourists to the area every year.

The Ronciglionese Carnival opens with the classic Cavalcata degli Hussari, in which the knights, dressed in period costumes, cross the streets of the village on equally adorned steeds. The parade is linked to an event of the Napoleonic era, in which Ronciglione was under French rule: it seems in fact that at the time, a captain of the Hussars had fallen in love with a local girl, and to win her over he had his entire battalion parade for the country. Then there are the equally famous “corse avac”, i.e. horses without a jockey: also called “racing of the barbers”, that originated in the 1400s at the time of Pope Paul III. There are nine stables that compete for the Palio della Manna every year, and correspond to the respective districts of the town. Also famous in Ronciglione are the so-called “red noses”, a characteristic mask of wine lovers and devotees of Bacchus, who, with their white tunics and red noses, gather in the main square of the town on Carnival Monday, to then parade throughout the country offering steaming macaroni to the citizens in chamber pots, and climbing up on the balconies of the houses in order to do so. The culmination of the celebrations occur on Shrove Tuesday, when the Carnival King enters the city, very elegant in his tails, and the mayor gives him the keys to Ronciglione.

L’identità del brand prende spunto dall’attitudine asiatica ai ritagli che si unisce al rigore del design pulito e minimale. Un mood che nasce dalla passione di Miss Zaho per l’arte e la contaminazione con la moda capace di fondere più linguaggi. Un credo che ha portato a dar vita a un museo della moda. Con lo spirito delle arti e per la continua ripetizione innovativa del dna del marchio, Miss Huizhou Zhao è fortemente interessata a collezionare tutti i tipi di opere d’arte dal proprio paese ma anche straniere.

La sua costante ricerca della moda, della cultura tradizionale e del valore artistico le ha dato un’idea unica per presentare al pubblico il processo di evoluzione della cultura e della moda per creare un museo dedicato. Combinando tutte le collezioni attuali con il supporto del programma sui beni culturali immateriali della Fondazione Hui, il museo mette in mostra con successo disegni di costumi che vanno dalla dinastia Qing al ricamo del patrimonio culturale delle minoranze etniche, dal palcoscenico della Repubblica della Cina all’istituzione della Repubblica Popolare Cinese, dai tempi di riforma e apertura fino all’epoca moderna.

Ciò riflette perfettamente l’evoluzione storica della cultura della moda contemporanea cinese. Il museo si impegna a diffondere l’arte e la cultura cinese nel mondo, per accrescere la consapevolezza pubblica del patrimonio culturale. L’idea di ereditare e innovare arte e cultura si riflette direttamente nella collezione di moda Hui. Ma Hui è più di un semplice marchio, dal 2016 è anche una fondazione basata sulla protezione e promozione delle tecniche artigiane e ancestrali della cultura cinese e ha come obiettivo, attraverso l’arte e il design, di studiare progetti di benessere pubblico incentrati sulla riduzione della povertà e, in particolare, per migliorare la qualità della vita di donne e bambini. La Fondazione Hui organizza dei tour culturali per gli studenti, in particolare della scuola primaria e secondaria, per accompagnarli nell’hinterland di Guizhou ed evitare le attrazioni puramente. L’obiettivo è quello di creare delle relazioni: per gli studenti che si arricchiscono spiritualmente con la cultura dei luoghi visitati e per gli abitanti di questi villaggi che, da un punto di vista economico, possono ricevere donazioni. Grazie a questi aiuti le donne locali hanno la possibilità di continuare a lavorare per non disperdere lo straordinario patrimonio di artigianalità e manualità che le rende uniche.

Come definirebbe lo stile del brand?

Hui è un marchio di design indipendente che abbraccia la cultura orientale. Percepire un lusso, conferire dignità ed eleganza femminile, presentare una perfetta sintonia con l’eredità della cultura e dell’arte. Questi sono gli aspetti che connotano il marchio, semplice nella forma ma raffinato nel cuore.

A che donna si rivolge?

Abbiamo visto, incontrato e intervistato consumatrici che sono già clienti abituali di Hui. Tutte vedono nel brand un punto di riferimento per la ricerca di uno stile moderno ma facile da indossare, senza standardizzazioni.

Il marchio è in grado di parlare a diversi tipi di donne, quindi il gusto di Hui è trasversale. Le donne che amano Hui sono colte, eleganti, indipendenti, tenaci e audaci, con un lato morbido e una parte dura allo stesso tempo. Osano essere se stesse e vivere la propria vita.

Quali sono le fonti d’ispirazione per le collezioni? Come sono cambiate nel tempo?

La collezione si ispira all’antica cultura tradizionale cinese ma non solo. Si concentra anche sul potere delle donne, come nrll’ultima collezione Farfalla Madre che si basa sulla leggenda mitica

del popolo Miao di Qiandongnan. Le precedenti combinano tradizione e modernità. Sono tutte espressioni artistiche contemporanee della cultura non tradizionale.

In quali mercati siete presenti e quali pensate di affrontare?

Ora abbiamo 10 negozi partner, oltre a un flagship indipendente aperto a fine 2022 a Palermo. Sono previste altre aperture, a Milano e a Firenze. Vogliamo che Hui metta radici primadi tutto in Italia, con la sede di Milano come nucleo centrale, per formare una diffusione che si apra il mercato internazionale. Per quanto riguarda lo sviluppo attuale, si tratta di un prodotto di lusso cinese, in modo che gli europei possano comprendere meglio la cultura cinese

Quali sono le strategie aziendali, alla luce dei cambiamenti di questi ultimi anni?

Ci concentreremo sempre di più sul potere delle donne, permettendo alla tradizione e alla moda di confrontarsi, innovando nella fusione. L’abbigliamento è il nostro fascino per il respiro della vita e un veicolo per l’espressione dei nostri cuori. Cerchiamo di proporre sempre prodotti semplici, diretti e caldi per rendere la vostra storia più piena e memorabile.

Quali sono i programmi e i progetti futuri?

L’attenzione principale si concentra sul concetto precedente di riqualificazione e trasformazione delle industrie tradizionali e sulla direzione generale delle strategie di sviluppo culturale e creativo per renderlo reale e più profondo. Lavoriamo anche sul museo della moda di Eachway per condurre una ricerca sostenibile, mentre attraverso la fondazione Hui ci impegniamo a ridurre la povertà, a promuovere l’eredità del patrimonio culturale, in modo da far affermare il marchio e l’unicità dell’impresa.

Tra i progetti futuri ci sono anche contattare un sempre maggiore numero di buyer, organizzare mostre e aprire negozi all’estero per aprirci ulteriormente al mercato internazionale e, allo stesso tempo, fare affidamento sulla Fondazione Hui, avviata per aiutare gli artigiani e finanziare il patrimonio dell’artigianato tradizionale nelle aree povere. E migliorare il museo della moda di Eachway per mettere in contatto la collezione con la Fondazione Hui.

Che importanza e ruolo ha il viaggio per lei?

Viaggiare è davvero uno stato d’animo, proprio come vestirsi, bisogna avere il proprio stile e si diventerà sempre più belli.

Cosa contiene la sua valigia ideale personale e quella di chi veste le sue collezioni?

Forse perché viaggio molto, tendo a scegliere bagagli piccoli e comodi ma molto capienti, che mi faranno sentire molto comoda e a mio agio. Non ho bisogno di molte cose: qualche abbinamento e versatile, i vestiti preferiti, cappelli, fasce per capelli, prodotti per la cura della pelle, cosmetici, articoli da toilette, qualche libro.

Quali must-have consiglia alle grandi viaggiatrici?

Cura della pelle e make-up, protezione solare, occhiali da sole e cappelli, che possono bloccare parte dei raggi UV e proteggerci, ma allo stesso tempo sono accessori di moda, una piccola farmacia da viaggio con antinfiammatori, cerotti, medicine per il mal d’auto e per il raffreddore, batterie ricaricabili, cuffie, fazzoletti.

The idea of inheriting and innovating art and culture is directly reflected in the Hui fashion collection. Ma Hui is more than just a brand. Since 2016 it has also served as a foundation for the protection and promotion of the artisan and ancestral techniques of Chinese culture, and through art and design, aims to study public welfare projects focused on the reduction of poverty and the improvement of the quality of life of women and children. The Hui Foundation organizes cultural tours for students, especially primary and secondary school students, accompanying them in the Guizhou hinterland. The goal is to create relationships for students by spiritually enriching them with the culture of the places visited as well as for the inha -

bitants of these villages who, from an economic point of view, receive donations. Thanks to this financial aid, local women have the opportunity to continue working at preserving the extraordinary heritage of craftsmanship and dexterity that makes them unique.

How would you define the style of the brand?

Hui is an independent design brand that embraces oriental culture. Perceiving luxury, conferring dignity and feminine elegance, and presenting a perfect harmony between heritage of culture and art. These are the aspects that characterize the brand. Simple in form but refined in heart.

Which woman is it for?

We have seen, met and interviewed female consumers who are already regular customers of Hui.

They all see the brand as a point of reference for a modern yet easy-to-wear style, without standardization. The brand is able to speak to women of different types, so Hui’s taste is cross-cutting. Women who love Hui are

cultured, elegant, independent, tough and bold, with a soft side and a tough side at the same time. They dare to be themselves and live their own lives.

What are the sources of inspiration for the collections? How have they changed over time?

The collection is inspired by the ancient traditional Chinese culture but not only that. It also focuses on the power of women. As in the latest Mother Butterfly collection which is based on the mythical legend of the Miao people of Qiandongnan. The previous ones combine tradition and modernity. They are all contemporary artistic expressions of non-traditional culture.

In which markets are you present and which do you plan to address?

We now have 10 partner stores, as well as an independent flagship opened in late 2022 in Palermo. Other openings are planned in Milan and Florence. We want Hui to put down roots, first of all in Italy with the Milan office as the

central nucleus, in order to form a diffusion that opens up to the international market. As for the current development, it is a Chinese luxury product so that Europeans can better understand Chinese culture.

What are the company strategies, in the light of the changes of recent years?

We focus more and more on the power of women, allowing tradition and fashion to confront each other and innovating fusion. Clothing is our charm or the breath of life, and a vehicle for the expression of our hearts. We always try to offer simple, direct and warm products to make your story fuller and more memorable.

What are your future plans and projects?

The main focus is on the previous concept of upgrading and transforming traditional industries and the general direction of cultural and creative development strategies to make it real and deep. We also work on Eachway’s fashion museum on conducting sustainable research, while through the Hui foundation we are committed to alleviating poverty and promoting cultural heritage inheritance so as to establish the brand and uniqueness of the enterprise. Future projects also include contacting an increasing number of buyers, organizing exhibitions and opening shops abroad to further open up to the international market and, at the same time, relying on the Hui Foundation to set up and help artisans finance the heritage of traditional crafts in poor areas. Also, to improve the Eachway fashion museum to connect the collection with the Hui Foundation.

What importance and role does travel have for you?

Traveling is really a state of mind, just like dressing. You have to have your own style so you can become more and more beautiful.

What does your personal ideal suitcase contain and that of those who wear your collections?

Perhaps because I travel a lot, I tend to choose small and comfortable but very roomy bags, which will make me feel very comfortable and at ease. I don’t need many things: some matching and versatile, favorite clothes, hats, headbands, skin care products, cosmetics, toiletries and some books.

What must-haves do you recommend for female travelers?

Skin care and make-up, sun protection, sunglasses and hats, to block part of the UV rays and protect, but at the same time fashion accessories, a small travel pharmacy with anti-inflammatories, cosmetics, pain medicines, rechargeable batteries, headphones and handkerchiefs are musts.

Flavio da cosa nasce l’idea di questa capsule collection, cioè una collezione speciale composta da capi più leggeri rispetto a una tradizionale?

Sono un uomo e un imprenditore che viaggia molto, mi sono reso conto di quanto sia difficile gestire una valigia: le cose spesso occupano troppo spazio, il peso rende questa troppo pesante ed una volta aperta ci ritroviamo con gli abiti stropicciati. Ho voluto una collezione che risolvesse questi problemi, con capi d’abbigliamento leggeri, con tessuti termici e che non si rovinassero durante il viaggio.

Quali sono state le scelte cromatiche?

Molti colori ma prevalentemente quelli che amo indossare io: il blu, il nero e il bianco.

Flavio where does this idea of the capsule collection come from?

I am a man and an entrepreneur who travels a lot. I realized how difficult it is to manage a suitcase: things often take up too much space, the weight makes it too heavy and once opened we end up with wrinkled clothes.

I wanted a collection that solved these problems featuring light garments with thermal fabrics that don’t get damaged during travel.

What are the color choices?

There are many colors but mostly the ones I love to wear: blue, black and white.

HOW TO MANAGE ANXIETY

We have all experienced it or continue to experiences often times in our lives. Anything from minor to major issues, anxiety can affect our relationships, jobs, or the direction of our lives. A simple mindfulness practice can help. Here’s how.

Preoccuparsi è normale, ma quando questo sconfina, può portarci a provare ansia o al limite estremo un attacco di panico.

Ci ritroviamo dunque a passare la maggior parte del tempo nella nostra testa, a pensare. Ed è lì il problema: la nostra mente si trova in tutt’altro posto rispetto a dove dovrebbe essere, e cioè in un consapevole stato di presenza in ciò che stiamo facendo. Invece la nostra mente ci trasporta in ricordi passati, in pensieri di un ipotetico futuro, in luoghi diversi rispetto a dove siamo o in ciò che gli altri possono pensare di noi. L’ansia diventa un enorme palloncino, alimentato dalla nostra mente. La mente è occupata

a raccontarci storie, a interpretare le esperienze secondo il proprio punto di vista, che quasi mai corrisponde alla realtà oggettiva.

Quando siamo in preda alla preoccupazione è facile scambiare i nostri pensieri e le nostre paure con la realtà, invece di riconoscerli per quello che sono. Ed è ancora più vero quando i pensieri sembrano talmente reali da favorire l’insorgere di sintomi fisici ed emozionali. Lo stomaco si contrae, il cuore batte veloce, il respiro si fa più corto e affannoso, rischiando di andare in iperventilazione. Prima di accorgersene ci si ritrova in preda al panico, e le

conseguenze sulla nostra vita possono essere estremamente negative. Un disturbo d’ansia è qualcosa che va oltre il senso di nervosismo o tensione. Una persona ansiosa mostra uno stato di allerta esagerato e costante nei confronti di potenziali minacce (il più delle volte irrazionale), pensieri negativi intrusivi e ripetitivi, uno stato di iper attivazione e paura, la risposta di attacco-fuga è sempre pronta a scattare. Tutti possiamo vivere questa esperienza. Nessuno deve avvertirlo come un qualcosa di insormontabile. La buona notizia è che la pratica della Mindfulness può aiutare a gestire questi momenti, spostando l’attenzione, dai pensieri alle sensazioni del corpo e del respiro. Si passa così dalla modalità del “pensare” a quella del “percepire”. Questo permette di trasformare immediatamente le nostre sensazioni fisiche, psicologiche ed emotive.

Con la mindfulness, la persona si concentra sulle sensazioni del corpo che emergono quando si sente in preda all’ansia. Invece di evitare queste sensazioni, la persona rimane in un consapevole stato di presenza, sperimentando i sintomi dell’ansia nella loro interezza. Invece di evitare i pensieri ansiosi, la persona si apre a essi nel tentativo di divenire consapevole che i pensieri non corrispondono letteralmente alla realtà, guardandoli per ciò che sono, privi di ogni retropensiero e senso del giudizio . Ma prima di riuscire

a raggiungere questi obbiettivi, attraverso una pratica costante della Mindfulness, è possibile fare qualcosa per gestire i momenti più difficili di ansia ?

La risposta è sì.

Ecco tre facili esercizi che possono aiutarci .

1) ANCORAGGIO

Uno dei modi migliori per calmarsi è “ancorarsi” dirigendo l’attenzione verso la parte bassa del corpo. Comincia a concentrarti sui tuoi piedi e a sentire come stanno all’interno delle calze e delle scarpe, a contatto col pavimento.

Espandi l’attenzione dirigendola prima verso la parte inferiore delle gambe e poi sulle cosce. Avverti una sensazione di leggerezza o pesantezza? Ora includi la percezione del tuo respiro, sempre più rilassante ogni volta che espiri. Questo è un buon modo per ancorarsi ed è possibile farlo in ogni momento, con gli occhi aperti o chiusi, mentre sei seduto o mentre camminati.

Sentiti ancorato e poi, respira.

2) CONTARE IL RESPIRO

Questa tecnica può essere utilizzata insieme all’ancoraggio o da sola. Prima puoi ancorati. Alla successiva inspirazione, conta mentalmente fino a 6, e durante l’espirazione, conta mentalmente fino a 10. La tecnica ha lo scopo di rallentare sia l’inspirazione che l’espirazione. L’espirazione è inoltre più lenta dell’inspirazione, rallentando il ritmo cardiaco e favorendo uno stato di calma. Se il livello di ansia è alto e non riesci a contare, ripeti mentalmente “dentro” ad ogni inspirazione e “fuori” ad ogni espirazione, ricordandoti di cercar di espirare il più a lungo possibile. Vai avanti tutto il tempo che vi serve.

3) RESPIRARE CON LE DITA

Si tratta di un altro metodo per contare il respiro. Metti una mano di fronte a te con il palmo rivolto verso il viso. Con l’indice dell’altra mano, traccia il lato esterno del pollice fino alla punta mentre inspiri, fai una pausa sull’apice trattenendo il respiro, e poi discendi lungo l’altro lato mentre espiri. Questo è un respiro. Prosegui allo stesso modo tracciando i contorni di tutte le dita e al termine del ciclo, torna indietro e ripetete in

IL PROFILO DELL’AUTORE THE AUTHOR’S PROFILE

Sono nato a Roma ma di origini indiane e già da giovane ho sentito la necessità di approfondire la conoscenza interiore e la spiritualità , passando attraverso lo studio e la sperimentazione di diverse tecniche di conoscenza . Mi sono dedicato in maniera più approfondita alla Meditazione, e a sviluppare dei programmi e delle tecniche personalizzate per la gestione dello stress quotidiano, basate prevalentemente sulle ancestrali tecniche di respirazione e di rilassamento. Trovare quel punto di contatto tra due mondi e due culture : Oriente e Occidente. Tutto questo percorso di ricerca è oggi messo a frutto, sviluppando dei particolari percorsi di Mindfulness. Tecniche che in questi anni ho potuto applicare anche alla mia vita lavorativa. Worrying is normal. However, when it crosses a certain point it can lead to anxiety or even panic attacks.

We find ourselves spending too much time in our heads, overthinking. In actuality, our mind should be in a conscious state of presence but instead it wanders into a completely different place. And therein lies the problem. The mind transports us to past memories, thoughts of a hypothetical future, places other than where we are or what others may think of us. Anxiety becomes a huge balloon, fed by our mind.

The mind becomes busy telling us stories and interpreting experiences according to one’s point of view, which almost never correspond to objective reality.When we are prey to worry it is easy to mistake our thoughts and fears for reality instead of recognizing them for what they are. And it is even more true when the thoughts seem so real that they cause physical and emotional symptoms. Your stomach contracts, your heart beats fast, your breath becomes shorter and more labored risking hyperventilation. Before you know it, you are in a panic and the consequences on your overall well being can be extremely negative. An anxiety disorder is something that goes beyond a sense of nervousness or tension.An anxious person shows an exaggerated and constant state of alertness towards potential threats (most often irrational),

intrusive and repetitive negative thoughts and a state of hyper-activation and fear. The fight-flight response is always ready to trigger. We can all experience this, but no one should ever feel as though it is something insurmountable. The good news is that the practice of Mindfulness can help manage these moments by shifting attention from thoughts to sensations in the body and breath. Thus we pass from the mode of “thinking” to that of “perceiving”. This allows us to immediately transform our physical, psychological and emotional state. With mindfulness, you focus on sensations in the body that arise when feeling anxious. Instead of avoiding these sensations, you remain in a conscious state of presence, experiencing the symptoms of anxiety in its entirety. Instead of avoiding anxious thoughts, when you open up to them in an attempt to become aware that the thoughts are not literally reality, and instead see them for what they are, you become devoid of any afterthoughts and sense of judgment. But before being able to achieve this practice of consistent Mindfulness, is it possible to manage these difficult anxious moments?

The answer is yes.

Here are three easy exercises that can help us.

1) ANCHOR YOURSELF

One of the best ways to calm down is to anchor yourself by directing your attention to your lower body. Start focusing on your feet and feel how they are inside your socks and shoes, and in contact with the floor. Expand the focus by directing it first to the lower legs and then to the thighs. Do you have a feeling of lightness or heaviness? Now include the perception of your breathing, becoming more relaxed

each time you exhale. This is a good way to anchor yourself and it can be done at any time, with your eyes open or closed, while sitting or walking. Feel anchored and then, breathe.

2) COUNT YOUR BREATH

This technique can be used in conjunction with anchoring or on its own. You can anchor first and then; on the next inhalation, mentally count to 6, and on the exhalation, mentally count to 10. This technique is intended to slow down both inhalation and exhalation. The exhalation is also slower than the inhalation, slowing the heart rate and promoting a state of calm. If your anxiety level is high and you can’t count, mentally repeat “in” with each inhalation and “out” with each exhalation, remembering to try to exhale as long as possible. Continue this as long as you need to.

3) BREATHE WHILE TRACING YOUR FINGERS

This is another method of counting your breath. Place one hand in front of you with the palm facing your face. With the index finger of the other hand, trace the outside side of the thumb to the tip as you inhale, pause at the apex as you hold your breath, and then descend along the other side as you exhale. This is one breath. Continue in the same way by tracing the outlines of all the fingers and at the end of the cycle, go back and repeat in the opposite direction. This practice is useful if the surroundings are too noisy and it becomes difficult to concentrate mentally.

Quindi la pulizia accuratissima è il fondamento della serata speciale. Pulizia del viso professionale ed esfoliazione sono operazioni che sono state sicuramente lasciate alle settimane che precedono la serata per non avere una pelle troppo arrossata dalle inevitabili stimolazioni meccaniche. Ora si può applicare il detergente con movimenti circolari, massaggiandolo leggermente poi eliminandolo con una salviettina dall’effetto leggermente esfoliante. Prima di passare alla base del trucco ci vuole una maschera. Si può scegliere una maschera rassodante prima di iniziare l’operazione make-up per un effetto lifting immediato ma che durerà di certo tutta la notte.

Con la maschera sul viso ci si sdraia sul letto con una mascherina per gli occhi e i patch imbevuti di sostanze attive, ascoltando un po’ di musica energetica. Eliminata la maschera e asciugato bene il viso, le facialist delle star di Hollywood consigliano di spruzzare un tonico leggermente alcolico e astringente quindi di massaggiare per trequattro minuti qualche goccia di olio concentrato per il viso con movimenti decisi dal basso verso l’alto per stimolare la circolazione e combattere il colorito spento dell’inverno.

LONG-LASTING MAKE-UP

Per un make-up che duri all-night long e resista anche a (eventuali) balli sfrenati si deve partire da una base il più liscia e uniforme possibile. Le makeup artist che si sono occupate del trucco di molte star per eventi come Grammy e Oscar, suggeriscono di utilizzare come base un siero che renda la pelle più uniforme, seguito da una base illuminante e funzionale al colore della pelle.

Per esempio, se si tende agli arrossamenti e alla couperose, la base avrà sfumature verdi mentre se la pelle risulta spenta, opaca e grigia meglio una base rosata. Se la pelle è più scura e quasi olivastra, il tono ideale è quello dorato. Prima di passare al fondotinta uniformare bene con un correttore chiaro il contorno degli occhi e delle labbra.

Forse non tutte sanno che lo spray fissante per i capelli può servire alla perfezione per domare le sopracciglia un po’ ribelli. O che il succo di mela al posto dell’acqua fornisce cubetti di ghiaccio per un lifting last minute, ottimo per rispondere all’invito a una serata speciale, magari arrivato all’ultimo momento.

PARTIRE DALLA BASE

Una bella pelle è alla base di qualunque make-up, anche del più complesso e perfetto lavoro di pennello.

Sembra una considerazione ovvia ma è fondamentale scegliere il fondotinta più consono al proprio tipo di pelle per avere una maggiore garanzia di durata. Va ricordato comunque che gli oli-free, quelli più adatti per le pelli grasse, tendono a durare maggiormente quando le notti si fanno lunghe. Meglio applicare il fondotinta con un pennello grosso e piatto (ma esistono fondotinta che hanno il pennello già incorporato per facilitare l’applicazione) per un effetto più uniforme e omogeneo.

Per un tocco di perfezione va scelta una tonalità leggermente più chiara per valorizzare i punti in rilievo come gli zigomi, la punta del naso e il mento.

ROMANTICA BUDAPEST

Oggi ospita la Galleria nazionale e il Museo di storia. Il punto più bello è senza dubbio il Bastione dei Pescatori, un belvedere sulla collina di Buda dall’architettura inconfondibile: le sue sette torri commemorano le sette tribù fondatrici dell’Ungheria. Da qui si può ammirare un panorama magnifico su tutta Pest. A due passi dal castello, si trova una delle chiese più importanti di Budapest, la Chiesa di Mattia o Chiesa di Nostra Signora. L’edificio è grandioso all’esterno, ma è l’interno che riserva le migliori sorprese: non c’è angolo che non sia decorato da stucchi, vetrate e dipinti. Non stupisce quindi che fosse proprio qui che venivano incoronati i re e le regine (come Francesco Giuseppe d’Austria e la moglie Elisabetta, da tutti conosciuta come Sissi). Budapest è nota anche per le sue antiche fonti ternali, sfruttate fin dal Medioevo, ed è proprio alla base della collina di Buda che si trova una delle strutture più celebri di tutta Europa: i Bagni Gellért. Un vero capolavoro Art Nouveau, con dieci piscine inserite in un meraviglioso ambiente decorato con mosaici e maioliche d’epoca. Pest, invece, è la zona più moderna di Budapest. È qui che si trovano i locali notturni dove fare aperitivi o andare dopo cena, specie lungo il fiume. Ed è sempre su questa sponda del Danubio che si trova il Parlamento, il terzo al mondo per grandezza, uno dei simboli della città, ben riconoscibile dalla sua enorme cupola. Al suo interno ci sono quasi 700 stanze, alcune delle quali sono visitabili insieme alla cupola. Questa parte della città è caratterizzata da ampi viali e piazze. Tra le più famose c’è piazza degli Eroi, inconfondibile per le statue che rappresentano i fondatori del Paese. Insieme all’arteria più importante di Budapest, Andrassy ut, è stata dichiarata Patrimonio dell’Umanità dell’Unesco. Non lontano c’è anche la Basilica di Santo Stefano, l’edificio religioso più grande dell’Ungheria. Ma soprattutto, da qualche mese c’è il nuovo Museo Etnografico, uno degli edifici più moderni d’Europa, il cui design evoca una coppia di pendii che degradano verso il centro, con giardini pensili e imperdibili punti panoramici.

IL PORTO SCAVATO NELLA ROCCIA

In Sardegna esiste un porto che non è fronte mare, bensì è sospeso a metà di una parete rocciosa. È Porto Flavia, un’ardita opera realizzata negli Anni ‘20 del 900, che permetteva l’imbarco diretto dei minerali sulle navi, destinati alle fonderie del Nord Europa. Un tunnel lungo circa 600 metri, scavato nella roccia dai minatori, sbuca su uno strapiombo che offre una vista mozzafiato sulla costa dell’Iglesiente, nella parte Sud-occidentale dell’isola, e sul suggestivo faraglione di Pan di Zucchero, un monumento naturale modellato dal tempo.

Dominated by the castle, also known as the Royal Palace, it was the residence of the kings of Hungary, an imposing complex that can be visited by walking along brand new panoramic walkways and going up via comfortable escalators and lifts. Today it houses the National Gallery and the History Museum. The most beautiful point is undoubtedly the Fishermen’s Bastion, a viewpoint on the Buda hill with unmistakable architecture: its seven towers commemorate the seven founding tribes of Hungary. From here you can admire a magnificent panorama over the whole of Pest. A stone’s throw from the castle is one of the most important churches in Budapest, the Matthias Church or Church of Our Lady. The building is grand on the outside, but on the inside it reserves its best surprises: there is no corner that is not decorated with stuccos, stained glass windows and paintings. It is therefore not surprising that it was here that kings and queens were crowned (such as Franz Joseph of Austria and his wife Elisabeth, known by all as Sissi).

Budapest is also known for its ancient springs, exploited since the Middle Ages, and it is right at the base of the Buda hill that one of the most famous structures in all of Europe is located: the Gellért Baths. A PORT CARVED INTO ROCK

On the circuit of Great Italian Gardens present in 13 of our regions, the gardens of the Terre Borromeo, on Lake Maggiore, are the most visited in Italy. Isola Bella, Isola Madre, Rocca di Angera and Parco Pallavicino are part of it and there is an increasing number of visitors who love to practice “horticultural tourism”, an opportunity to be in contact with nature. Together with the most important artery of Budapest, Andrassy ut, it has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Not far away is also the St. Stephen’s Basilica, the largest religious building in Hungary. But above all, just in the last few months there is the new Ethnographic Museum, one of the most modern buildings in Europe, whose design evokes a pair of slopes that slope down toward the centre, with hanging gardens and unmissable panoramic points.

L’ALTA BADIA, IL MIO PARADISO DELLO SCI

Ho iniziato a frequentare questa zona dell’Alto Adige negli anni ’90, su consiglio di un caro zio. La prima volta ho alloggiato all’Hotel Tablè di Corvara, località turistica principale della valle (le altre sono Colfosco, La Villa, San Cassiano, Badia e La Val). Ricordo ancora l’emozione provata la prima volta alla vista del paesaggio, rivissuta ogni volta che sono tornata per le mie vacanze sulla neve. Ho capito dopo pochi giorni quanta varietà di piste e percorsi escursionistici offre questa zona per praticare uno dei miei sport preferiti, sempre circondati da panorami mozzafiato. L’Alta Badia è a ridosso del maestoso Gruppo del Sella, tra Val Gardena,

Val di Fassa, le zone di Cortina e Arabba. Ogni giorno si può andare a sciare in luoghi diversi e i giorni della settimana bianca non bastano per sperimentare tutte le escursioni.

PRIMO GIORNO: PISTA NERA E PISTA ROSSA

Da Corvara saliamo con la cabinovia Boé a 2.200 mt e con la seggiovia Vallon a 2.500 mt s.l.m. Scesi dalla seggiovia, non proprio di ultima generazione, ci si trova sotto alle pareti del Sella in un anfiteatro dolomitico maestoso. Da qui possiamo scendere per la pista nera Vallon e abbinarla alla pista Boè (1000 mt di dislivello, oltre 5 km). Finito il “riscaldamento”, possiamo risalire e andare verso La Villa e San Cassiano. Dopo una serie di discese e risalite, arriviamo sul Piz La Villa, da cui possiamo scendere a valle con la mitica pista nera della Gran Risa (pista di slalom gigante dove hanno vinto campioni del calibro di Stenmark, Girardelli e Tomba). In alternativa è possibile sciare tra gli abeti sulla pista rossa, meno impegnativa e molto piacevole. Una pausa merenda con krapfen all’Hotel Gran Risa e risaliamo. In quota ci dirigiamo a Piz Sorega, scendiamo lungo la pista rossa La Fraina, una delle mie preferite, verso San Cassiano. Pranziamo in uno dei numerosi rifugi della zona.

SECONDO GIORNO: AL CENTRO DELLA VAL GARDENA

Partenza nei pressi della stazione con la seggiovia Borest, primo impianto di una serie che portano a Colfosco, passo Gardena e Selva di Val Gardena. L’escursione è a ridosso del Gruppo del Sella e dà la possibilità di “studiarlo” da vicino. Notiamo la Val Mezdì, ripida e stretta, una sfida per sciatori esperti. Arrivati a Passo Gardena, saliamo con la seggiovia Cir e in cima ammiriamo un nuovo panorama dominato dal massiccio del Sassolungo. Per scendere a Selva prendiamo la mitica pista Danterciepes che porta praticamente in centro, vicino alla Backerei Konditorei Mussner dove una sosta è d’obbligo prima di salire al Ciampinoi. Una volta in quota, ci sono varie piste per la discesa tra cui la pista nera Saslong o la variante che passa di fianco a Castel Gardena. Questa pista molto suggestiva porta a Santa Cristina di Val Gardena, al centro della Valle: da qui abbiamo ampia scelta di zone sciistiche (Monte Pana, Col Raiser-Seceda, Alpe di Siusi verso Ortisei e Plan de Gralba in direzione Passo Sella).

TERZO GIORNO: TRAINATI DAI CAVALLI

Da Corvara saliamo con la cabinovia Boé, direzione Armentarola. Dall’Hotel Armentarola partono i pulmini che portano alla partenza della funivia del Lagazuoi, a metà strada tra Val Badia e Cortina D’Ampezzo. Una volta in quota propongo una pausa caffè al Rifugio Lagazuoi per godere dalla terrazza affacciata sulle Dolomiti. Da qui consiglio di riscaldare i muscoli e scendere sulla pista rossa della funivia Lagazuoi, spettacolare e poco frequentata, prima di affrontare la lunga discesa della pista Armentarola che termina al rifugio Capanna Alpina e si snoda in uno scenario unico. Al termine è possibile farsi trainare dai cavalli fino al ponte Sarè per entrare nell’area sciabile dell’Alta Badia.

Sono 8,5 km di pista immersi nel più integro paesaggio dolomitico nel Parco Naturale di Fanes, Sennes e Braies di fronte alle calde pareti della Cima Scotoni e del gruppo di Fanis e al maestoso Piz dles Conturines. Farsi trainare è un’esperienza divertente e emozionante: i cavalli trascinano una slitta alla quale vengono annodati spezzoni di corda, gli sciatori disposti a destra e a sinistra si attaccano in prossimità dei nodi. Il cavallo in relax fa una passeggiata fino all’Hotel Valparola.

PER I GIORNI A SEGUIRE

Ci sono tanti altri posti dove fare escursioni sugli sci: si può raggiungere Arabba attraverso il Passo Campolongo e sciare sulle piste di Porta Vescovo, proseguire fino al Lago Fedaia e salire sulla Marmolada. Andare a Canazei attraverso il Passo Pordoi, percorrere il famoso Giro dei Quattro Passi attorno al massiccio roccioso del Sella, che attraversa le valli di Fassa, Gardena, Badia e Arabba. Il Giro dei Quattro Passi (detto Sella Ronda) è un carosello sciistico circolare di 40 km, percorribile in senso orario (segnaletica arancione) e antiorario (verde), senza punti di partenza o arrivo predefiniti. Sono tornata in queste zone anche la scorsa estate, alla fine di una breve vacanza con mio padre in Val Gardena. Immensa l’emozione di rivedere panorami a me così familiari.

Mi auguro di tornarci insieme a mia figlia, per condividere anche con lei la bellezza e l’unicità di questa zona delle Dolomiti dell’Alto Adige.

ALTA BADIA, MY SKI PARADISE

I started visiting this area of South Tyrol in the 90s, on advice of my dear uncle. The first time, I stayed at the Hotel Tablè in Corvara, the main tourist resort in the valley (the others are Colfosco, La Villa, San Cassiano, Badia and La Val). I can still remember the emotion felt the first time at the sight of the landscape, relived every time I got back for my snow holiday. I realized soon the variety of slopes and hiking trails this area offers for practicing one of my favorite sports, always surrounded by breathtaking views. Alta Badia is close to the majestic Sella Group, between Val Gardena, Val di Fassa, the

areas of Cortina and Arabba. Every day you can go skiing in different places and one week is not enough to experience all the options.

FIRST DAY: BLACK SLOPE AND RED SLOPE

From Corvara we go up with the Boé cable car to 2,200 m and with the Vallon chairlift to 2,500 m a.s.l. Once you get off the chairlift - not exactly the latest generation - you find yourself under the walls of the Sella, in a majestic Dolomite amphitheater. From here we can go down the Vallon black slope and combine it with the Boè slope (1000 m in altitude, over 5 km). After the “warm up”, we can go back up and go towards La Villa and San Cassiano. After some up and down, we arrive at Piz La Villa, from which we can descend to the valley with the legendary black slope of the Gran Risa (giant slalom slope where champions like Stenmark, Girardelli and Tomba have won). the fir trees on the red slope, less demanding and very pleasant. A snack break with krapfen at the Hotel Gran Risa and we go back up. At high altitude we head to Piz Sorega, descend along the red slope La Fraina, one of my favourites, towards San Cassiano. We have lunch in one of the many lodges nearby.

SECOND DAY: IN THE HEART OF VAL GARDENA

Departure near the station with the Borest chairlift, the first lift in a series that lead to Colfosco, Passo Gardena and Selva di Val Gardena. The excursion is close to the Sella Group and gives the opportunity to “study” it up close. We note the steep and narrow Val Mezdì, a challenge for expert skiers. Once in Passo Gardena, we take the Cir chairlift up and at the top we admire a new panorama dominated by the Sassolungo massif. To go down to Selva we take the legendary Danterciepes slope leading to the very centre, near the Backerei Konditorei Mussner where you must stop before going

up to Ciampinoi. Once at the top, there are several downhill slopes, including the black Saslong slope or the variant that passes alongside Castel Gardena. This very suggestive slope leads to Santa Cristina di Val Gardena, in the center of the valley: from here we have a wide choice of ski areas (Monte Pana, Col Raiser-Seceda, Alpe di Siusi towards Ortisei and Plan de Gralba towards Passo Sella).

THIRD DAY: HORSE-DRAWN SKI EXPERIENCE

From Corvara we go up with the Boé cable car, towards Armentarola. At the Hotel Armentarola you find the minibuses going to the departure of the Lagazuoi cable car, halfway between Val Badia and Cortina D’Ampezzo. Once at the top, enjoy a coffee break at the Lagazuoi refuge, from the terrace overlooking the Dolomites. From here I recommend warming up your muscles and descending on the red slope of the Lagazuoi cable car, spectacular and not very busy, before tackling the long descent of the Armentarola slope ending at the Capanna Alpina refuge and winds through a unique scenario. At the end it is possible to be pulled by horses up to the Sarè bridge to enter the skiable area of Alta Badia. There are 8.5 km of track deep in the most intact Dolomite landscape in the Fanes, Sennes and Braies Natural Park in front of the warm walls of Cima Scotoni and the Fanis group and the majestic Piz dles Conturines. Being towed is a fun and exciting experience: the horses drag a sled with a rope knotted, the skiers arranged on the sides, grabbing the rope near the knots. The horse takes a quite walk up to the Hotel Valparola.

FOR THE FOLLOWING DAYS

There are many other places to go on ski excursions: you can reach Arabba through Passo Campolongo and ski on the slopes of Porta Vescovo, continue to Lake Fedaia and climb the Marmolada. Go to Canazei via the Pordoi Pass, take the famous Tour of the Four Passes around the rocky massif of the Sella, which crosses the valleys of Fassa, Gardena, Badia and Arabba. The “Giro dei Quattro Passi” (called “Sella Ronda”) is a 40 km circular ski carousel, which can be traveled clockwise (orange signs) and anticlockwise (green signs), no fixed start and finish points. I returned to these places last summer, at the end of a short holiday with my father in Val Gardena. I felt a huge emotion seeing those familiar panoramas and I hope to come back together with my daughter, to share with her the beauty and uniqueness of this area of the South Tyrolean Dolomites.

DUE ANIME E UN DESTINO

Questo romanzo ha come punto di arrivo quello della famosa battaglia di Waterloo ma in realtà va ben oltre a tutto ciò.

É innanzitutto un enorme viaggio, dal momento che la trama si sposta da Napoli (con splendide descrizioni di Capri, della Reggia di Caserta, del Palazzo Reale, la Cappella San Severo e molti altri monumenti) alla Francia della Rivoluzione, fino a Londra. É un sogno ad occhi aperti, ti ritrovi in quei posti solamente leggendo. I due protagonisti, Henri e Antoine, sono legati inconsapevolmente da un antico accadimento che si perde nella notte dei tempi. Ognuno prende una via dettata dal libero arbitrio che lo condurrà inevitabilmente a quel fatidico giorno che dà il titolo al libro. Un cammino va verso la luce e l’altro verso le tenebre. Sullo sfondo di tutto questo si muove un sordido gioco politico che mira a conquistare soldi e potere sulle spalle ed a discapito della guerra che è l’ultimo capitolo di un tragico momento che infiammò l’intera Europa. Chi è il buono e chi il cattivo? Il buono è veramente tale? Il Cattivo lo è per scelta? Nulla è sicuro nel gioco della vita.

LA VEDOVA DI MURUA

Può un orologio da taschino condizionare la mente del suo possessore fin tanto da fargli commettere atti malvagi?

Edgar è un giusto, un ragazzo dall’animo nobile che durante un viaggio in aereo si imbatte casualmente in un vecchio dalla moralità discutibile. Dopo quell’incontro Edgar non sarà più la stessa persona. Il giovane ruberà l’orologio da taschino dell’oscuro personaggio e comincerà a percorrere la strada della dannazione.
