6 Blue, Throughout the Year

Mr Matt Hamer Year 6 Blue

This year was the first time that I have been in Mr Hamer’s class and it has been an enjoyable experience from the start of the year to the finish. We went to Kalgoorlie, the Superpit, and the Perth Mint, have been underground, constructed a marble timer and made our Confirmation which was a big part of the year.

Since we were the first Year 6 class to be part of the celebration of Confirmation I felt anxious and honoured. In Kalgoorlie it was a very intriguing experience because it was the first time many of us went to Kalgoorlie, not to mention underground! We also went to the Superpit which is a huge and amazing mine. The marble timer construction was a very unique and frustrating experiment. It was difficult at the start for my partner Nicholas Marciano and I when we were trying to get the marble to run between a certain space of time. It has been a fantastic and fun year which all of us enjoyed! Max Formato

Marble Timers In Term 2 and Term 3 Ryan Somers and I made our marble timers. We had to make a marble timer out of recycled materials so that a marble of any size could run through the pathway without falling off. Some of

our problems were lack of materials such as wood, not enough toilet rolls and heaps of people were stealing marbles. We used wood for the base and so the marble timer wouldn’t fall over. We also used toilet rolls for the pathway which led the marble to the end and to a bell because the marble had to indicate when it was finished. When we showed the whole class our marble timer at the end the marble wouldn’t hit the bell so we were very disappointed. The good thing about it was that we got amazing results Matthew Murphy

A Little Election In Term 3 Mr Hamer sat us down on the mat to decide what to do for our assembly in week 3. We came to a conclusion; we would read a humorous book called ‘A Little Election’. The next day we sat down and volunteered for parts. The play was about Miss Wyatt reading a book to our class and getting interrupted by students and teachers while reading. I was chosen to play Mrs Wyatt. We spent the next two weeks rehearsing and on the morning of the assembly we had a dress rehearsal. The costumes were astonishing.
