Student Roll Call

Trinity basketball has yet again experienced growth and success both on and off the court over the summer season 2007-2008. As a leader in PSA Basketball, Trinity continues to achieve the results throughout the year groups that reflect the skill and endeavour of the

Mr Andrew Osnain 1st V Basketball Coach students, and the hard work of coaches. The Middle School basketball teams performed exceptionally well, with the 8A and 9A teams remaining undefeated for the season. It should also be noted that two Year 9 students worked hard to earn a position in the 1st V squad. The Year 10 teams continued to develop, with notable improvements in results from the previous year. Finally the 3rd V and 2nd V teams demonstrated a level of basketball that reflects a well rounded knowledge of the game, and an ability to play basketball at the next level. With these performances in mind, Trinity is assured of success for years to come. The 1st V season began in earnest during the Term 3 holidays of 2007. The boys were well aware that a successful defense of the Blackwood Cup had not been achieved in the history of Trinity Basketball. Term 4 results reflected a distinct possibility that this was achievable, with significant victories over all but one school – Hale. In a cruel twist of fate it was to be two separate injuries that helped determine the overall outcome of each of the two games. The level of self belief and discipline each player demonstrated throughout Term 4 suggested a successful defense of the Blackwood Cup was on the cards. Unfortunately this was not to be the case. Heading into the last game both Trinity and Hale were undefeated and almost inseparable. Both teams had mirrored victories over the other PSA schools by large margins and the final game was by fate to decide the outcome of the season. The boys began the game with confidence and intensity, however were unable to sustain this over two halves. The Blackwood Cup slipped through the fingers of the mighty TC. With a taste of what could have been left in the mouths of the returning 1st V squad members, and a new group of players eager for success, Trinity is sure to make a bold assault on the Blackwood Cup in 2009.

The most encouraging aspect of Trinity basketball is the new found enthusiasm of the families who have helped raised the profile of the sport at the College and in the community. Trinity held its first Basketball Presentation evening, which was well attended, and enjoyed by the Trinity basketball community. With an increased volume of parental support the students are the direct benefactors; your continued support is much appreciated.

Congratulations to all players and supporters on a successful season, with special thanks to Mr Russell Hinks, Mr Kosta Ilic and Mr Brett Silver for their assistance in preparing the 1st V squad. I would also like to acknowledge all Trinity basketball coaches for their hard work and dedication throughout the season. Thank you for your efforts, experience and enthusiasm in making the season an enjoyable one for the students.
