Senior Enterprise Program
Senior Enterprise
Mr Peter Duckett
Senior Enterprise Program Coordinator This year saw some new developments in Senior Enterprise. A key development has been the bringing together of the Indigenous students with the students enrolled in Certificates I and II in Business. This partnership will lead to other initiatives that students will be able to engage in at the College’s Dwellingup Camp School. Throughout the year, the Senior Enterprise boys again developed their business skills through their work for the Trinity Old Boys’ Association, College Auxiliary and the new Clothing Store. This primarily involved the design, consultation and production of ticketing and advertising for the organisations’ various functions held throughout the year.
As in previous years, the boys have successfully run a laundry program out of their work area. Next year this will be complemented by a new venture which will see the students run a nursery with the aim of eventually self-funding their own program.
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Kevin Dawson, a teacher at the Dwellingup School of Wood, for his support both at the wood school and at the Dwellingup Campsite.
The Senior Enterprise boys are, of course, to be congratulated on their hard work and enthusiasm throughout the year.
The extension of the olive grove project at Dwellingup has been complemented with the establishment of a new venture incorporating passionfruit and protea bushes. During Term 3, the Senior Enterprise students hosted the Year 8 Indigenous students and fenced the area that will be used for this new venture. Whilst on this camp (and again during the camp in Term 4), the students took advantage of a woodworking course at the internationally acclaimed Dwellingup School of Wood. Each student took home a jewellery box they had crafted themselves. This program was made possible by the generosity of Alcoa in the sponsoring of the students.
During Term 4 the Senior Enterprise boys hosted the Year 9 Indigenous students. They also completed a project at the wood school as well as working together to repair and maintain infrastructure at the olive grove.
