Student Roll Call

For me 2008 has been an excellent school year. In 5 Blue with Miss Totaro we have learnt some interesting things and had lots of fun too. I have thoroughly enjoyed being a new student at Trinity College. In reflection, I really didn’t know what to

Miss Natalie Totaro Year 5 Blue expect but I enjoyed camp at Forest Edge (especially the big fox and the mud fight trek). That set the tone for an excellent and BUSY year ahead! My favourite subjects this year were Maths, English, Science and Technology and Enterprise. We made catapults and pinball machines. Year 5 has been a special year for me and I have learnt so much. I can’t wait for another exciting year next year as we’ll be the first Year 6’s to lead Trinity Junior School.

Term 1 Waroona Camp Poem

Waroona Camp was heaps of fun; I thought it was the best. And judging from what I’ve heard, it was also fun for the rest. There was rock climbing, abseiling and a very big walk! It was even fun just to sit with new friends and talk. We had mixed emotions at first about the HUGE flying fox. Until we went faster and higher than the mighty Dean Cox! There was the challenge of raft building and good fun at canoeing. We loved it so much we didn’t care what we were doing! As camp day three dawned, we saw the end to our fun, But I admit I missed my home, my own bed and my Mum!

Term 2

Term 2 was super busy and went very quickly. The highlight during Term 2 was our trip to AQWA in Hillarys to learn about ecosystems. We saw some very colourful fish and some super scary sharks! Everyone had a great day. Unfortunately, we finished off Term 2 with some very sad news. Father Mac passed away. We remember Father Mac for his enjoyable Masses, great sense of humour and his courage and kindness.

Term 3

Term 3 was so busy, but really fun. We had our Sports carnival, Fathers’ Day Breakfast, Assembly, portfolios… and the list goes on! We also went to the World of Energy and learnt some crazy scientific facts! Our class topic was about the strange and wonderful lives of the Ancient Greeks. In class we made catapults and levers – two very important Greek inventions. For our Assembly I got to play King Midas who turned everything he touched into gold. It was fun playing a greedy king! Teachers always say Term 3 is the busiest term. This term was certainly no exception!

Term 1

I was very nervous on the first day of school because I didn’t know our new teacher and I was also very excited when I saw my new friends from the other class. In Term 1 we went to the Swimming Carnival. I had a great time; it was really enjoyable and

Mrs Jacqueline Williams Year 5 Green entertaining. We went on a camp to Forest Edge and I loved it! Although it was really tiring, we all had a fantastic time. We did enjoyable activities like abseiling, rock climbing, raft building, and bush walking. I liked the enormous flying fox and the mud fight was amazing!

Term 2

In Term 2 Mrs Williams and I decided to have a birthday party together. We all brought a plate of food and played lots of party games. My favourite game was the Chocolate Game, where we rolled a dice and if we rolled a six we could cut a bar of chocolate with a knife and fork. We could eat as much as we liked until the next person rolled a six. We all had a great time. It was about the third week that Mrs Williams told us the fantastic news that she was going to have a baby. We all enjoyed our winter sport options and we had a great time participating in our Assembly. We also had an awesome time at AQWA. I think Term 2 was probably my favourite term.

Cody Pegrum Term 3

We did some impressive things throughout Term 3, including participating in the Athletics Carnival and Cross Country and studying forensic science. Some people in our class went to the Spelling Bee and CANTAmaths competitions, which were daunting and scary for the competitors. We also went on two excursions this term; one was to the Art Show while the other was to the World of Energy. During this term Miss Paladino joined us and she organised some fun activities. I particularly enjoyed being a member of the Young Writers’ Club where I have been writing a fantasy story that Mrs Williams is going to help us publish.

Overall

The whole year was fantastic! Camp was really cool and we got to do heaps of activities. I’ll never forget when Gianluca fell asleep on the floor and Mr Hackett had to wake him up. All of the excursions we went on were fun and enjoyable and finding out Mrs Williams was having a baby was exciting. I had fun and thoroughly enjoyed being a part of 5 Green.
