Congratulations to Campion who were the winners on the day. Staff and parents alike were most impressed with the students’ behaviour, sportsmanship and the obvious level of enjoyment. The boys are all to be commended on their performances!
This year the A’s Basketball Team was coached by Geoff Anderson. We were inspired by such a great coach because he showed us how to play like a team on the court and he taught us all different types of plays and drills.
We had a great team, we may not have won every game but we had great fun and learnt many things. A game we will never forget is when we played against Guildford. We took an early lead 10-2 but Guildford came back forcefully after the break. It was goal for goal the rest of the game. With 10 seconds left Guildford was leading by 1 point and got a rebound off the backboard. Finally they had a great passage of play, got a lay-up and won the game by 1 point. The Lightning Carnival approached fast and we were very prepared. Our first game was against Wesley. Unfortunately we lost but that didn’t stop us having fun and enjoying the day out.

Our coach Mr Thompson taught us a lot about cricket but also about working together as a team. I think we had a great team because we were all mates and we knew each other well. We may not have won every game but we got better and better the more we played together, one thing we always did was have FUN!!!

The success we had was based around our teamwork, the talk we had out on the field and the understanding we had of each other was great. We outran a lot of opposition players due to training hard and working together which is what we did. I had a great time playing cricket for Trinity with my mates, good luck to the boys for next year.

The Trinity “A” Team of 2008 had a season of mixed results. We enjoyed moments of success combined with a handful of games ending in our unfortunate defeat. The season was one which I believe players in both the “A” and “B” teams had fun. It was also an opportunity for us to learn a variety of new skills which would assist us later in the season. I would also like to make a special mention of our coaches who must be rewarded for their continual support of the different teams.
Training for this recent waterpolo season was one which revolved around the concept of developing a strong swimming base and overall fitness. This would have an effect in our games to be later in the season, where our superior fitness levels ended up getting us the desired results we were looking for. Results in most games were close this season, with only a few goals separating the two teams competing on the day. The only time throughout the season that we were outplayed was our game against a formidable Hale School line-up, consisting of boys with a lot of experience in the game. However we did enjoy our much desired “pay-back” with a hard fought win over the same opponent in the Lightning Carnival. The Carnival was a great success and all involved should be commended for putting on such a well run competition for the boys.
Thanks must go to Mr Mepham, Mr Rigoll and all the parents who came and supported us throughout the season. We hope to continue to build on this year by progressing into the Secondary School and make Trinity a competitive side in waterpolo for years to come.

What a season of footy! This was not only a very successful year but it was one not to forget, and I’m sure that everyone can agree that the team put in 100 percent at all times.
The season of fixtures began successfully with a brilliant win against Aquinas by a matter of only 4 points; this match was then further backed up by a series of winning streaks.
During the year we played in many tough and challenging matches, none more so than the Ian MacRae Cup, against Aquinas. The outstanding match ended with a victory to Trinity and with the trophy sitting in our cabinet once again, with 100 percent, body on the line type of playing from the TC boys. By the end of the fixture season we only managed to lose twice, a very satisfying result.
The football season concluded as always with the Lightning Carnival. The boys gave it a testament to the magnificent standard of the Trinity 1st XVIII Football Team.
This year’s football season was a very successful and enjoyable one, with the compassion and commitment of not only the boys but the coach, Mr Hamer.
Well done boys and thanks again Mr Hamer.

Junior Rugby
We started our season playing Aquinas, and had a nail biting win 10-15 which showed our true potential after a very uninspiring performance last year. Next we played Scotch and Wesley and our confidence from the Aquinas game carried over too much and we drew both games.
With our heads down and confidence low we played Christ Church, playing with tremendous skill we won the game by a blistering 8 tries. We now felt that we were a tightly bonded team, not just a group of individuals.
Next was our most memorable game against Guildford, where their physical stature did not intimidate us. They were a very good team but we got a try in the final play to draw the game. It was then up to our kicker Andrew Eyres who was under a huge amount of pressure; however, he managed to kick the conversion to keep our undefeated streak alive. We definitely wanted to be the only team in the whole of the school to be able to beat Hale in rugby. At half-time it was equal at 5-5. In the second half we came out firing and defeated Hale convincingly with Hale failing to score.
We successfully won our final two games fairly easily against Wesley and Scotch and finished our season undefeated.
We would like to thank our parent coaches Mr Halpin and Mr Rigoll. Finally our thanks also to Mr Thompson and Mr Lewis for their constant encouragement. We look forward to continuing our Trinity rugby journey in high school.

In Modcrosse this year we had Mr Lamborn as our coach. We beat nearly every team but no matter what the result we had HEAPS of fun. Christ Church were tough but we remained strong and mighty. Almost every game we dozed off but Mr Lamborn kept us focused.
The Lightning Carnival took us by surprise. The bus trip was long but Aquinas was longer! We were low on numbers so we borrowed some players from tennis. The first team we played was Christ Church. They beat us by a point but our spirits were still high. We came back against Aquinas and we came back strong. Next was Scotch which we beat by 3 points. Last was Hale which we were victorious over by 2 points.
Over the whole season we all had great fun in every match no matter what the weather or result!

Junior Swimming Carnival
The Junior School House Swimming Carnival took place on Thursday, 21 February at the Beatty Park Aquatic Centre.
As with all sporting carnivals the students were excited and keen to do well in their respective events.
The age championships were hotly contested and congratulations go to the following boys who were the eventual winners:
Year 4 Damon Marciano Year 5 Aidan Wallace Year 6 Thomas Rigoll Year 7 Isaac Polini
I was most impressed with the behaviour of the boys and particularly the sportsmanship they displayed.
Carnivals require a great deal of organisation and assistance and I’m pleased to say that the coordinator of sport, Mr Luke Thompson, ensured the day ran very smoothly along with the many parents who offered their help on the day.
The victorious house was Queens followed closely by Chanel, Xavier and Campion.

Junior Swimming Carnival

This year tennis was one of the most popular summer sports. There were six teams of four that played every week against the other PSA schools.
The Trinity boys played well and improved each week. Most importantly, we tried to show great sportsmanship against other schools.
The ‘A’ tennis lost their first match against Christ Church, but we had some highs in the match. Through the season everybody played really well and enjoyed their matches.
At the end of the season there was a carnival played at UWA Tennis Club on the clay courts. The boys who were lucky to represent the school in the Lightning Carnival were: Stuart Zekulich, Matthew Hadfield, Joshua Rouphael, Fraser Staltari and Damon Keizer. Everybody who contributed had an awesome time. We all competed against every school in a doubles match and only lost to Christ Church and Scotch. Christ Church eventually won the overall Lightning Carnival.
The tournament was very strong and everybody enjoyed playing tennis!
