Badminton Sport
T
his has been the finest year for Badminton since the sport was taken up by the College as part of the PSA program. Given a few small bits of luck, the First VI could have won the J A Kelly Trophy, it was that close. The boys can be proud that they finished in Mr Kevin Johns third place – beaten twice Team Manager by Wesley (four matches to five in each case) and once by Hale (four matches to five). Key matches were taken to the full three games which were decided by only a few points each time.
Congratulations to Captain Anthony Gileno; Don Nguyen, undefeated; Tim Gargano, our number one player; Scott Tognolini, beaten only once in a tight contest; Jonathan Lo, playing number two; and Ryan Vincec and David Chua, each very successfully rotating a place in the Firsts. Special thanks to Ailing Zhang, our incredible coach, and to the large group of supportive parents who added sparkle to the atmosphere each Saturday - and home games morning tea!! Congratulations also to our Seconds, Thirds and Fourths who kept the flag flying throughout the season with an eye to moving up the ladder in 2009. Thanks to Mr Brendan Chapman for stepping in as coach of the Thirds and Fourths after the season started. Mr Kevin Johns Team Manager
