Air conditioner, inspection and servicing work

Location of components inside the machine

The visual checks should be performed even if the air conditioner is not used. The air conditioner should moreover be switched on once a month for 10 to 15 minutes. This prevents drying out and embrittlement of the shaft seal in the compressor. Otherwise there is a risk of refrigerant leaking out of the unit. This also ensures regular lubrication of the compressor components.

The heater/air conditioner is installed in the driver’s cab on the right side of the driver’s seat. - Blower (1, Fig.1) - Heat exchanger (2) - Evaporator (3) - Heating filter (4) - Heating valve (5) These components are accessible after removal of the cover (1). The heat exchanger, the evaporator and the blower require no servicing.

In the cab Evaporator (3, Fig. 1) soiled or cooling fins deformed? - Blow out dirt and remove by suction. Straighten the cooling fins. Antifreeze protection sensor on evaporator kinked or leaking? - Have sensor repaired. Filter mat (4) soiled? - Depending on the conditions of use, the filter mat must also be checked more often and cleaned by blowing out or by beating. Temperature control knob (99, Fig. 2) difficult to move? - If sluggish, check Bowden cable for kinking or corrosion and replace if necessary.
