Danger of explosion
Diesel fuel can also give off highly inflammable and explosive gases. When working on the fuel system: - Shut off the engine and any auxiliary heating, - secure the machine, - do not use open flames, - do not not smoke. Collect the contaminated fuel and dispose without polluting the environment. Diesel fuel can damage the skin. Wear protective gloves or use a barrier cream.
Impurities and water settle on the bottom of the fuel tank. This is the case especially if the machine is filled up frequently or regularly with fuel from cans or drums or when the machine is used on sites with strong fluctuations of daytime/night-time temperatures. The result is the formation of condensed water, especially if the tank is not full. At temperatures below 0°C, this water freezes and can no longer be drained off via the drain plug. For this reason, water and deposits must be drained off at the end of the workshift and the tank subsequently filled. - Secure the machine as described under
“Securing the machine”". - Place a receptacle under the drain plug (arrow,
Fig. 1). The drain plug opens when the draining hose is screwed onto the valve (arrow, Fig. 1). - Drain off water and deposits and dispose without polluting the environment. - Unscrew the draining hose. - The drain plug closes automatically. - Fill fuel through the strainer in the filler tube.
Wash the strainer in paraffin oil before filling.
