Main filter element

Clean or replace the main filter element when warning lamp (4, Fig. 3) lights up. When warning lamp (4, Fig. 3) lights up, the main filter element is already contaminated to such an extent that the volume of air passing through the filter is insufficient. If this is the case, the main filter element must be cleaned or replaced, even if the service interval has not been reached. - Carefully withdraw main filter element (6, Fig. 5).

Removing and checking the main filter element

Clean or replace the main filter element. - Detach clip (2, Fig. 4), remove cap (4) and clean it.

Checks before re-installation: - Check the filter paper with a lamp (Fig. 7).

A bright glare visible through the paper indicates damage. If the paper is damaged, the filter element must be replaced immediately.

Cleaning the main filter element

Never clean the filter element by beating it against hard surfaces. The main filter element must be replaced after 5 cleaning cycles or after one year in operation at the latest.

If the gasket is damaged, the main filter element must be replaced immediately. - Visual examination of the inlet duct between filter and engine for leaks and tightness. The intake duct must be free from apparent external damage. - Check the connecting hoses between filter and intake line for tightness and integrity.

Fig. 8 The filter element can be cleaned with compressed air if it is to re-used immediately. The pressure at the blowing nozzle must not exceed 5 bar. Blow dry compressed air from the outside at angle against the filter surface as shown in (Fig. 9).

Fig. 9 Then clean the inside of the element. Cleaning is finished when there is no more visible dust emerging from the filter. Do not beat or knock the filter against hard objects.

Never use petrol and flammable or hot liquids to clean the filter.
