Explosion hazard due to vapours
Fuel vapours are highly inflammable and may burn explosively. Therefore avoid creating sparks and never use a naked flame, e.g. lighter or matches, for lighting. If you have to work on the fuel system: - Switch off the engine and auxiliary heating, - secure the machine, - avoid naked flames, - do not eat, drink or smoke while working.
Potential health hazard
Diesel fuel and any drained water/ fuel mixture are potential health hazards. These fluids must never be swallowed. Prolonged contact with the skin must also be avoided. Avoid inhaling the vapours. Wear protective gloves or apply a barrier cream.
Avoid environmental damage
Collect escaping fuel and dispose of it in accordance with local environmental regulations. Dispose of fuel filters and fuelsoaked rags separately from other waste. Never use “biodiesel”
“Biodiesel” may damage the injection system and the engine. Use only diesel fuel produced from mineral oil complying with standard specification EN 590. Further information can be obtained from your dealer service department.
Refuelling from cans
If the machine is refuelled often or regularly with fuel from cans or barrels, there is an increased risk of foreign matter and water getting into the fuel system. In this case: - Always fill fuel through a fine mesh; - drain off water from the fuel filter more often than specified in the maintenance schedule; - drain off water and deposits from the fuel tank at shorter intervals; - replace all fuel filters at shorter intervals.
Replacing the fuel filter

Read and observe: “Fuel system, safety instructions”.
Replace the fuel filter in accordance with servicing plan B every 500 OH. - Secure the machine as described under
“Securing the machine”. - Unscrew the fuel filter cartridge (1, Fig. 1) and dispose without polluting the environment.
Fig. 1 - Clean the sealing surface of the filter head. - Fill the new fuel filter cartridge with fuel. - Apply a thin layer of oil on the gasket of the new fuel filter cartridge. - Screw the fuel filter onto the filter head until the gasket is in contact with the sealing surface and tighten by hand. - Check after some time that the sealing surface between filter head and fuel filter is not leaking.
