Alternator/water pump drive belt

Risk of injury from rotating fan blades and running V-belts. Shut off the engine before opening the engine compartment. Risk of burns through hot engine, exhaust and radiator components. Wait until the engine, exhaust and radiator have cooled down before starting servicing and repair work.
Drive belt maintenance specifications •
Visual inspection

Belt tension check every 250 operating hours
every 10 hours or daily
• Belt replacement every 2000 operating hours Unlock the engine hood with lever (101, Fig. 1) and open it (see “Engine hood”).

- The belt is frayed at the edges. - Parts of the belt material are missing. - If shining or chafed areas are visible. The automatic belt tensioner (3, Fig. 3) must be checked and replaced, if necessary.
Replacing the drive belt

Check the drive belt visually for cracks and damage. The belt must be replaced, if - longitudinal cracks and transverse cracks intersect (1, Fig. 2 replacement not necessary. 2, Fig. 2 replacement necessary.)
