Outdoor Education T

his year's intake of students choosing Outdoor Education was the highest the college has ever had. The year 2003 saw students tackle a variety of topics and challenges. Some of the outdoor pursuits tackled by the students included canoeing, rockclimbing, cycling, sailing, camp cooking and power boating. They undertook a number of expeditions during the year. The Year Twelve students tackled the Bibbulmun Track for four days. This required the students to carry all their food and equipment in backpacks and be self sufficient for the duration of the walk. This was successfully completed. Both Year Eleven classes participated in sailing expeditions. Inclement weather saw one expedition sail around the river camping at Pelican Point and out to the ocean, camping at Woodman's Point. The other expedition sailed the islands off Dampier. Both expeditions were unique experiences, with all students having a great time.

Outdoor Education

Year Ten students enjoyed an expedition down at Margaret River participating in a number of activities. Students reported the caving was the highlight of the trip. Planning for the Year Eight and Nine expeditions is underway. Both groups will be based down at Dwellingup with the Year Nine group participating in canoeing and the Year Eight group in cycling. All students involved are looking forward to these expeditions. Congratulations to all students involved in outdoor education this year and to the respective teachers for their co-ordination of the units and the expeditions.
