Grounds and Maintenance
The appearance of our grounds and gardens are a credit to our Head Groundsman, Ross Beatson, and his assistant Tracy Hancock. The Centenary Park improvements were Mr Glenn Pianto the next stage of the
Property Services Manager Landscaping Committee Plan. It has greatly improved the aesthetics of this central region of the College. The next stage of this project will be completed during the Christmas vacation. The maintenance team continue to work quietly behind the scenes and have been progressively renovating staff rooms and classrooms, as well as the complete renovation of the B block toilets. The appearance of the College, the Waterford playing fields and Camp Kelly is a credit to the grounds and maintenance staff and I thank them on behalf of the College community.
Waterford Playing Fields
The playing fields at Waterford continue to improve and this year we refurbished the Collopy oval. This oval has proved to be the envy of many schools that come to play during the winter competition. Graham Warne and his assistant, Michael Whitney, continue to work hard to maintain the grounds for the use of the Trinity students.
Camp Kelly – Dwellingup
Old Boys, parents and community members built our outdoor education camp at Dwellingup with busy bees between 1984 and 1987 under the direction of Mr Brian Dillon. Since then many parents have assisted in the annual maintenance busy bees to continue that great Trinity College spirit. Recent improvements have seen the replacement of the old wood hot water system with a new gas fired system, construction of a cool room pantry area and refurbishment of the dining hall to include an extra entry door and a new servery and stove. The busy bee in September gave parents, students and old boys the chance to complete further refurbishments on this magnificent facility for the College.
Conclusion
Although I have only been at Trinity for a short time, what impresses me most is the wonderful sense of community that exists throughout the entire campus. The parents, students, past students and staff are all willing to put in that extra effort to make this more than just a place to receive an education but also a community to learn a set of values and beliefs that will ensure our young men are well equipped to deal with all that life has to offer them.
