Confirmation Holy Communion

Chaplain

This year we were very fortunate to again have Fr. John McGannon as our Junior School chaplain.

He has a wonderful rapport with the students and staff. We thank Fr. John for all his input and hard work with the students and his ability to make everyone feel very special.

Mothers’ Day Mass

Mothers’ Day Mass was a very memorable occasion for mothers and sons. This year the boys presented their mothers with a beautifully framed photo of themselves. The Year Four boys did a beautiful liturgical movement which brought many a tear to the mums’ eyes. The mums always appreciate the poems and reflections written by the students and this year was no exception. It brought more tears and laughter to the whole congregation.

First Communion

Year Four Green started the term well by going to the Shrine in Armadale. It was great fun preparing for our First Holy Communion with such kind helpers as Sister Lisette and our teachers and parents. We all enjoyed the atmosphere of the Shrine as it helped us understand the meaning of our First Communion. We received the Sacrament of First Holy Communion. Family and friends surrounded us and it was the greatest Mass of our lives. We all celebrated afterwards with a special cake and great food provided by our lovely Mums.

Year Four Blue went to the shrine in Armadale and Sr Lisette took us. We made our communion candles. Finally, the day came for the Year Fours, our FIRST HOLY COMMUNION. It was very exciting. Weused the candles that we made at the shrine and then, it was time to receive the BODY OF CHRIST.

My Communion Day

The mass was in the Chapel. It was at 9.00 am, for friends and family, on Friday 29th August 2003, Four Green parents came to our mass. We were receiving Jesus’ body. We had our morning tea in Gibney Hall. Everyone had to bring some food. We had to offer our friends and family some food. After about ten minutes, Father John cut the cake, which was in the shape of a bible with icing on it. My favourite part of the day was receiving Jesus’ body. I also think the mass was a success.

Confirmation

Our Confirmation journey began at the Year Seven Enrolment Mass. We renewed our baptismal promises, as we were now old enough to make decisions about the direction of faith.

The Confirmation Home Programme helped me to understand and learn more about my faith, the Holy Spirit, other people and myself. I enjoyed the activities we did as a group as they taught us about the many gifts that the Holy Spirit blesses us with and prepared us for the Sacrament we were to receive. We have also been busy in class researching a Saint whose name we have taken as our Confirmation name. We learnt about the lives of many Saints, which showed us that if we try to do our best and believe in God, anything is possible. The Confirmation retreat was a great success. Not only did we have a lot of fun but also I discovered more about my classmates and myself. I realised that some things that we fight over in this world are not necessary and I took a good look at my life and the things which I value. As a preparation for Confirmation, we went for Reconciliation, which helped us in our preparation for today’s sacrament. Webecame ready to receive the Holy Spirit. Overall, I really enjoyed this journey. I know that each of these experiences has taught me a lot about my faith especially the Holy Spirit and has helped me understand and prepare myself to receive the sacrament of Confirmation today. All our teachers, especially Mr. Chitty, Mr. Dean, Mr. Maxfield and Mr. Hackett helped us on this journey and we thank them all very much.
