The Elastic Band

During the past year the Elastic Band played a variety of pieces including "Whai Bamba" (an African tune), "The Addams Family", "By the Waters of Babylon", "In Nomine Domini" and "Gaudete" (a medieval tune). Weperformed well at the Performing Arts Festival, where we received a special Encouragement Award. All round it has been a good year.

Liam McCloskey (Captain) and Jerico Matarazzo (Vice Captain)

The Primary String Ensemble

We played "When the Saints Go Marching In" in Gibney Hall in front of the whole school. It was perfect. All that practice for the whole term paid off. Weare looking forward to performing at the Concert and Presentation Evening at the end of the year, with an even bigger audience. I would like to thank Miss Atkinson and Mrs Weinstein for all their help and support throughout the year.

Kyran McCaffrey (Yr Five)

The Primary Choral Group

Our first performance for the year was at the Trinity Mercedes Music Night held in Gibney Hall. We sang "Hitori", a Japanese folksong. We sang two songs for the Catholic Schools’ Performing Arts Festival- "Hitori" and "I’m a Believer" from "Shrek". We blew the crowd away with our outstanding performance. Then we relaxed and watched the other groups perform. We were very happy with the adjudicator’s report. We are all looking forward to Speech Night. We will be singing "Elijah Rock" and "Lo, How a Rose", and "A Child’s Credo" with the Junior Choral Group, Dannel Yeo on the violin and Alex Bray on the glockenspiel. I would like to thank Mrs Lamborn for choosing appropriate songs and conducting us, Mr Campana who always does an excellent job accompanying us on the piano and to the boys who give up their lunchtimes to make the Primary Choral Group a great success.

Gerard Rosario (Captain) and Liam Phelan (Vice Captain)

The Junior Choral Group

The Junior Choral Group members are rightly very proud of their "Honourable Mention" from the Catholic Performing Arts Festival. They sang (in only their second performance as a choir) "Country Sounds", an introduction to four-part singing (yes four!) and "The Promise of the Garden" a beautiful remembrance of those who died on September 11, 2001. The Concert and Presentation Evening in December will feature "A Child’s Credo" being performed with the Primary Choral Group and various instrumental accompaniments, "Music of the Day" and "The Computer".
