Primary Hockey

The hockey options fielded three teams this year, the A, B, and C teams. The A and B teams played full rules hockey, while the C team played Minkey rules. All three teams played schools such as Aquinas, Scotch, Wesley, Hale, Guildford, Christchurch and the A team were lucky to play Bunbury Grammar in the Lighting Carnival. The A team won many games throughout the season and would like to thank all the other schools for their determination. The boys would like to give a big thanks to Mrs Main, Mr Pickford and Mr O’Leary for all their help and support during the season and most of all for putting in the time to coach us. The boys would also like to thank all the parents and supporters that attended the match and encouraged us to do our best. The boys from the B and C teams would like to thank Mr Maxfield and Mr Pearson for coaching them all through the season. Overall the boys had a great season and an enjoyable experience playing hockey with one another.

Primary Football

The 1st XVIII football team of the junior school was very successful this year. Our coach Mr Chitty led us to great success without a loss throughout the year. A game to remember was our huge come back win against Hale in terribly wet and trying conditions. We dominated the second half of the game but didn’t capitalise on the score board until the final quarter. After kicking countless behinds, we finally steadied and kicked the winning goal seconds before the siren sounded. What a game! Our most enjoyable games were against Aquinas (playing them three times in the season). Both teams were always very eager and passionate about doing well against one another, trying that extra bit harder to get over the line. We always played great team football against Aquinas. We were well suited to the bigger grounds because of our pace and clean disposal. We played top football against the other schools, winning quite comfortably. Unfortunately, our lightning carnival was not as successful as the season, but all the boys tried their hardest and that’s all that counts. We hope that next year’s boys will do just as well as this year.

Primary Rugby

This year the A rugby team had a most successful year. Led ably by their captain, Alex, and supported by their vice captain, Marco, the boys developed into a highly competent, well-drilled team. Westarted the year off slowly, building up our skills and commitment and finished the year highly credibly with a great performance at the lightning carnival. I am very proud of every member of this squad. They put their heart and soul into each game and behaved like gentlemen. I enjoyed coaching this fine group of boys and look forward to hearing of their success in the senior years.
