The 2003 Trinity Athletics team scored 1325 points in the 99th PSA Athletics competition. This result would have been sufficient to win most of the previous ninety eight carnivals. However, in what eventuated to be a battle of rare quality, Aquinas College held on to win the PSA title in the last event of the day. Trinity’s score is the highest recorded second place total in the history of the event. Whilst most team members and supporters felt the emptiness of coming so close to victory, there was a sense of admiration for the outstanding effort of all members of the team. The effort, discipline and determination of the athletes were of the highest quality. The team’s preparation, although only five weeks, was thorough. The team was fortunate to have a quality team of coaches that included teachers, parents, old boys and friends of the College. The Year Twelve athletes, led by Captain Christian Skinner and Vice Captains Alessio DiBiaggio and Peter Trend, set excellent training standards providing a fine example for the younger athletes.

Lead up competitions with Iona, Mercedes, Lumen Christi, Christ Church, Aquinas and Hale were important events in providing all athletes with competitive experience and the chance to press for selection in events on Inters day. In addition, in a lead up to the Inters, the senior athletes won the Western Australian School Teams competition and two junior teams were placed second and third in their division. It is testimony to the quality of the team that at least twenty of our reserves would have gained selection in other schools’ teams. The reason for Trinity’s improvement in recent years has been the progress made by the depth of talented reserves. Our reserves can take significant credit for the team’s performance. Parents played a significant role in the preparation of the athletics team. The collective effort of parents in being officials on competition days, providing morning teas, sausage sizzles and presenting the breakfast and dinner on Inters day has contributed to the development of team spirit. With the improvement achieved in recent years the Trinity athletics team has set itself to be in strong contention to win the 100th PSA athletics carnival in 2004.

We played in an AFL carnival. We went to Aquinas to play two games. It was 13-12 in the first game and 24-24 in the second. We lost one and drew one. We had a great time.

Four Green

It was a fun sports carnival day and even though it rained, it did not dampen our spirits. There was deafening cheering, though we loved it. Everyone did his best and we saw some great running. The fastest event of the day was the parents running out of the rain. Queens came first, Campion second, Chanel third and Xavier fourth. Thanks to Mr Hamer for all his hard work to make the day very special. Some boys were lucky enough to go to the Interschool athletics carnival. The Year Four boys did very well, achieved some high places, and showed lots of sportsmanship as well. It was a long day and there were a few sun-burnt faces when we returned

Four Green The biggest day of the term was the Athletics Carnival. Again Bronson had a great day winning Champion Boy. The winners were Queens, with Campion coming second, Chanel third and Xavier fourth.
