SEVEN BLUE SEVEN GREEN

In Term One we all enjoyed the Peer Mentor Program where we looked after and made friends with a particular year four student. During the year we worked and shared many school and sport tasks with our peers.

Term 2

This term was the biggest term of the year, as we had the Sacrament of Confirmation. We discovered much about our friends and ourselves; and about how we can follow Jesus to make the world a better place. At Camp Kelly, on Retreat, we participated in many team building and Spiritual activities as a class. The best activities were rafting, the Trust walk and reading a letter from our parents explaining how proud they were of us. In Term Two for science and history, we watched a movie called The Dam Busters. Our class novel was Friend or Foe, by Michael Morpurgo which we enjoyed more than the movie of the novel. For the last three days of term two and the July school holidays, two-thirds of the class went to Canberra for the biggest school excursion that we had ever had. It was great. We even went to the snow.

In the early stages of Term Three Seven Blue started making our very own mousetrap cars. In Term Three we also learnt about rainforests. We visited the Aviation Museum in Bull Creek, saw AVRO Lancaster Bomber as used in the Dambuster’s mission. Lastly, this term also contained the Winter Lightning Carnival. This was a huge success with all teams doing well.

This is our last term in Junior School, and we are all very excited (and nervous) about Year Eight. Graduation is looming, and we are looking forward to the special Mass and lunch. The Trinity Primary school has been excellent. We could not have asked for any more and we cannot wait for High School.

At the beginning of Year Seven, it scared me at first, but it turned into a fun filled adventure with Mr Chitty. We studied Ancient Egypt as our first language theme and wrote poems and stories about what we learnt. Early in the term we had a new Year Four student to take care of. It’s great how they always look up to us for advice. Midway through the term, we played our summer sport options that were great fun. By far the best part of term one was our project. We made a TV advert promoting an Australian product. It was great making your own short movie.

Term Two was a big one for Year Sevens because we were going to make our confirmation. To prepare for this, we had a school and home programme. We all really enjoyed our confirmation retreat down at Camp Kelly. It was a special experience prior to being confirmed. Wedid a lot of enjoyable computing activities and PowerPoint presentations on ‘Skin Cancer’ and studied ‘Democracy’. We were also very excited about going to Canberra in the holidays!

Term Three was a really good term. Something I thoroughly enjoyed was the Four Roles of the Reader programme. It was the first time we had Four Roles of the Reader and it was very successful. Our group co-operated very well with all of our jobs. My group chose ‘Holes’ as our first book and we were never let down because it was a really good read. Our Monaro enlargement we started in the 2nd term was also finished off and it looks fantastic! As we moved into the last term of primary school, I felt a little disappointed that it would be our last and I really could not believe how quickly my time has passed at Trinity Primary. We are currently preparing for our assembly item on the ‘Rainforest’ which is what we are learning about in S&E. Everybody is excited about doing sport options this term and can’t wait to present our Year Seven speech night item in a few weeks time.
