The Miscellany News is the oldest publication of Vassar College, and one of the oldest college weekly newspapers in the United States. Two thousand copies are distributed each week on Thursday morning at locations across Vassar's campus, including dormitories, dining facilities and communal areas. The paper welcomes contributions from all members of the College community—students, administrators, faculty, alumni/alumnae, and trustees. The paper has six sections: News, Opinions, Features, Humor & Satire, Arts, and Sports. The paper has been weekly since February 6, 1914, although it has published annual, quarterly and monthly issues since 1866. Widely known as The Misc among students, the newspaper staff is known for its thorough reporting and quick turnaround on breaking news. Members of the staff have gone on to be successful journalists.
