Route Management Manual Facility Route Map

Facility Route Map A facility route map is an important tool that can be used in the development, training, and verification of a route network. An example of a completed facility route map is shown in Figure 20. An initial facility route map should be generated prior to training any truck(s). This will be used to determine where the truck will travel and how the truck should be trained. It should include the planned Raymond Courier paths, designations and locations for all stations, as well as locations for all behaviors that must be trained. Once training is completed, the truck(s) should be verified (see page 73) to make sure the truck matches the information on the facility route map. If it does not match, retrain the truck to match or update the facility route map to represent how the truck actually behaves.

The following information should be included in the facility route map: • Stations – location, including dimensions relative to easily identified landmarks, and number designation • Drop-offs – location, including dimensions relative to easily identified landmarks, and number designation • Ramps – location and grade • Hazardous Zones and Restricted Areas – locations and dimensions • Fire Doors – locations • Trained behaviors – locations and any information needed to properly train those behaviors. See the Facility Route Map Key (Figure 19) for more information on trained behaviors • Pedestrian aisles and areas with frequent pedestrian traffic - locations and dimensions • Refer to page 35 for additional items that should be identified with locations and dimensions on the facility route map • Intersections – locations, dimensions, and designations • Gates – locations and designations • Uneven Floor Zones – locations and values

Fundamentals of Route Development

Once verification is complete on all trucks and the facility route map is updated, if needed, the facility route map can be considered final. Preserve a copy for future reference and for use if truck retraining is ever required. If training of the trucks is modified in the future, the User should generate a new version of the facility route map.
