Route Management Manual The Truck
Zones Zones allow the behavior of the automated truck to be altered for a predefined portion of a route. Zones identify areas requiring special behavior, such as: slow travel, intersections, ramps, uneven floors, or fire doors.
Slow Travel When the Slow Travel Zone is programmed, the automated truck will do the following: 1. Travel at the specified speed for the specified distance. 2. Resume normal speed. This Behavior requires the following inputs (in metric values) from the trainer (with default values): • •
Travel speed: 750 mm/s (1.68 mph) Travel distance: 3000 mm (9.8 feet)
NOTE: When training a slow behavior across multiple stations, the slow behavior must be added after each station. This is to make sure the slow behavior is recognized if the truck is restarted between stations. This Behavior is particularly beneficial in situations such as: •
Doorways
•
High-pedestrian-traffic areas
•
Hazardous Zones and Restricted Areas (see “Hazardous Zones and Restricted Areas” on page 43)
•
Route merge points with other automated trucks
NOTE: Travel speed must be reduced to no more than 300 mm/s (0.67 mph) in Hazardous Zones. The Slow Travel Behavior should be used to make sure that the appropriate maximum speed is maintained throughout Hazardous Zones. NOTE: Maximum speed for at least one truck approaching a route merge point should be <1073 m/s (2.4 mph; see “Multiple Automated Trucks on Intersecting Paths” on page 110).
